Let’s start with Yorna’s first Ex build. I will add up to 4 scenes with it, 3 of which is guaranteed. The summer takes its toll on artists’ time and they deserve some rest. Also, I’m working on several small quality of life improvements.

H scenes 0 / 3-4 

As for the next project prep, we are at stage I and I’m all in on checking how to get animation into the game in the most efficient way. League of Corruption had animated H scenes, but that implementation had a lot of problems from a need to pre-load scenes to RAM issues from parallax mapping and a load of frames to chew through.

This time I’m going the smart way, choosing between two options. Option one is Dragon Bones to RPG Maker MV via an existing plugin. Already tested it on one of the LoC’s scenes and it works great with small issues. These won’t be a problem to fix.

The second option is Live2D via a similar, self-written plugin. This will be harder because there are no existing solutions for this and I’ll need to write my own. Why bother? Live2D has several functions to make animations easier and more “alive”. By alive I mean auto-adjustments on the fly.

This allows for smoother animations with all elements moving at the same time. Doing the same manually with Dragon Bones will be harder and will require much more time. On the other hand, I’ll need to learn Live2D, never used it before.

In short, the next week will be Live2D vs Dragon Bones. Both options have their ups and downs and I’ll need to test them out to compare. DG is already in ok state, time to check the second option. It’s hard to tell but most likely I’ll be ready to make the choice on the next weekend.
