Well, it’s almost 2019 and I wanted to thank everyone who supported me, gave feedback or simply played and enjoyed Yorna.

It was an interesting year between halting League of Corruption, my re-evaluation of gameplay and Yorna’s birth. Looking back, I’m sure of one thing – the game is what you see now because of your support and interest. That’s why I wanted to leave a small teaser plan for 2019 before wishing you a happy new year.

I’ll introduce new features in the upcoming months and research some for the next projects. If all goes well, the animation will be my goal for future projects. Yes, RPG Maker can somewhat support it but only in a rather limited scale – I already created animated scenes for League of Corruption and know it well enough.

Yet I think this feature can be pushed further with Live2D. It seems as a great tool with unique options based on the trial version and preview/example works. Professionals can really bring the picture to life with it. If you saw nothing related to Live2D, here’s a good example.

Bonus points for those who noticed the squirrel… Ahem… So, if I can manage to learn the tools, the next project will have interactive models as its core feature.

Dialogues and cutscenes look alive with it. The scene feels almost like a cartoon where actors don’t freeze up. Passive animation takes care of this by altering sprites between active animations and passive standby modes like breathing.

And just imagine what it means to H scenes…

Though, I will require a different engine to support the added functions. Can’t say for sure, but it looks like there’s no clear winner. I’ll have to test out Visual Novel Maker, Renpy and Unity as the most likely candidates and go from there.

Of course, Yorna’s support and development go without saying. Guess it will be a tough year for me. Ugh, now I just made myself sad :P

Either way, thanks for supporting me and happy new year!
