More than 2 years have passed since I sat down and finally decided to make something on my own instead of just scouting forums for new games to play. It's been an absolute blast, and now it's finally time to finally dedicate a part of my monthly time towards developing a new project.

I can't say how long it will take, as it took me almost a year to develop Succulence[0.3] from scratch. But back then I was a complete noob in everything: coding, assets, working with images, the editor itself, etc. This time I am more prepared, and even though Succulence 2 will be made on new engine, I have most of the essential components ready.
And don't worry, updating Succulence is still top priority, so the updates for it will be released every month still.

I'll be posting development progress at least once a month, and there are a couple of polls planned for the outlook of new characters.

The general script right now is very raw, but I'm able to present you a general idea of what to expect from my next project:

+ 16:9 Resolution
+ New setting
+ 2 Switchable protagonists(Serena will be one of them)
+ New job for Serena
+ 1 or 2 Characters from the previous game
+ Multiple side-characters, each with their own standing image and story arc
+ Raising Sim mechanics for side-characters
+ Stat management for Serena will be simpler
+ No mandatory dungeon crawling(I might add one somewhere, but more as a mini-game/side-activity)
+ Enemy encounters will remain, but they will be minimal, and combat system will be deeper to make it more interesting
+ New outfits

What will remain the same:
+ Business Suit themed job
+ Some of the old outfits(a few will be redesigned, a few will remain unchanged)
+ Day/Night cycle

Obviously since it's a work in progress, some things might get changed along the way(I will keep updating this post), but this is the gist of it. I think by spring I should be able to release a small demo to showcase new engine and some of the characters.

Release dates(alpha ver.1):
Released!

That's it for this post.
Cheers!

I was planning to post this last week, but I chickened out, because I honestly don't know if I'll be able to actually present a demo by the promised time(working with the new engine might result in all sorts of delays after all). But procrastinating won't do me any good either, so I'll try my best to work on the sequel every week, and we'll see where it leads me. By the way, working title for it is "New Blood" :P

RPGM MV?

rnest

Yes, at least that's what demo will be made in. I am still considering Ren'py, in case I'll decide to make it feel more like a visual novel.

anxious and curious about pictures and more information And very good luck

Max Perez

Would you say this is a sequel or an alternate universe?

rnest

Thank you. I might post some news(with possible preview)next week.

rnest

It's too early to say for sure, since the script is as raw as it gets. It might be both.

New job? But I Like the teacher idea for Serena hehe New job sounds like agent Alona, she went to a company then to find a new drug lol Good luck. And Renpy would be a nice option, if you don't want to include fights.

rnest

I might reveal what the new job will be soon, but it might stay a secret until demo release :P

Is it reasonable to have two leading characters? Updating at the same time or switching between the two with each update? I am looking from the point of view of how long people will have to wait to see their character progress. Can you switch between the two leads on the fly or do you have to pick one and your stuck with them till the end?

rnest

They switching mechanism will require some testing, but what I have in mind right now is: Switching will be done in the "home" location, and will last until morning of the next day, and you'll be able to switch again if you like. The stories of 2 protagonists will cross each other, but for the most part they will be done in different locations. Updates will be done for both of the protagonists at the same time.

Hi RNest, I finished the game and think in retroperspective I enjoyed the dungeon crawling a lot. You could spice it up by having more enemies that do different things to the player and stuff like leeches and parasites. The storyline outside of the fantasy world was very enjoyable aswell but I felt it didn't go far enough. I'm a feminist in real life but in this game it's weird how nobody notices how she acts or dresses. On the other hand it's nice that the game doesn't get too dark on this. Thanks for the enjoyable gaming experience. This game is by far the best of this kind I've played yet.

rnest

Thank you. I don't have any monster assets, so I can only have humanoid enemies in this game, unfortunately. As for passerby reactions, those are hard to do because of how many npc's there are in the locations(I kinda shot myself in the foot there), but they are coming, some will be added in the next update.

Also I cunt understand where to find second part. Btw, this is the best game what i ever play. I become crazy every minute of waiting for an update! Wish u luck! And cunt find a word how to explain how awesome u r!

Thank you very much :) Check recollection room(book in Serena's house) to see your progress. New update will be on February 28. I only started to work on the second part, demo will be ready sometime in spring(between March and May).
