Content

I've got a few different things to talk about in this post, and while it mostly pertains to supporters, I'm making it public because there may be at least some information relevant to non-money-paying fans. We'll start there and move progressively toward more supporter stuff.

Although speaking of which, please do consider supporting the game, etc. etc.

First, let's talk about the previous content poll

Some people have expressed some curiosity about what the results were, and since the poll has been ended for a while now, I don't really see a reason not to share.

Pretty clear, although I'm not sure if it was what I expected or not. As for some comments from me:

  • I'm not sure if the "Expanded content depth for currently existing threats" entry was very clear in what it meant or not, since I've felt like people have since then asked about features that would definitely fall under this umbrella (more events/interactions with the imp/bat girl/maids etc.)
  • Lack of interest in boss monsters/dungeon NPCs leads me to think that, to a degree, people are satisfied with the complexity/difficulty of gameplay in the dungeon, even if I personally still want to push it some more (and have been working on doing so, more on that in a bit).
  • This did very much prompt me to work on the actions part of the desire manipulation system when I might have moved it off longer otherwise. I've been getting some very positive responses to the Raine sex scene added in the last update in particular, which makes sense as it follows the trend of this voting.
  • I love me some Witch interaction, so the number of votes for her probably doesn't matter.
  • In general, the options here were rather vague, and the resulting work from them was pretty unfocused as a result, but I've already talked about that in a previous devlog.

So that's interesting, what next?

If you've read the previous devlog or been following my tweets (@_NRFB), then you know generally what I've been working on. Status effects and more modifiers for threats, in order to increase the amount of variety in what those threats actually do.

It's coming along pretty well. The system is all in place now, and previous work on threat modifiers (meaning stuff like Runty or Monstrous monsters/Simple or Efficient traps) has been converted over into it. I can start making new stuff for new threats to fill out the dungeon more and with greater variety, which was the general point of adding this stuff.

But let's get more specific

Separate from this post, I'll be setting up another content poll, this one about, specifically what kinds of new threats I should add to make it feel justified to make the dungeon longer than 10 floors. This will give the work being done on content have a consistent theme for me to work toward fulfilling, since I already have some ideas I want to do all of eventually, but I don't necessarily know what the audience might want.

So let's look at the options!

Beastkin

The rage filled wild men and women using the dungeon as their own endless battleground. You've already run into some of the dumb beasts they use for scouting, as well as their used funeral pyres. What would happen if you wound up in their territory for real?

The Sealed Ones

What happened when Eschahn was a bit too heavy handed in trying to bring people in? Some went along with it, and some tried to seal their awakening desires away. It didn't quite work how they wanted.

Eschahn's Votaries

Can't have a dungeon filled with churches and shrines without people who follow the goddess' creed. Probably the most PLOT option of the bunch, up to and including the previous squad of knights.

More Maids

Because you know I can't help myself. Keeping the dungeon clean isn't easy, but you haven't even met the specialists yet.

Experiments

The dungeon is practically lawless. If you were looking for somewhere to try some so-called heretical experiments, you could definitely make a worse choice of where to set up shop.

I'll be putting up the poll in a separate post after this one. As a reminder, anyone at the Knight or higher support level who wants to have a say in what theme I should put together first can vote!

And speaking of Supporter levels...

Something that I've wanted to do for a while now is add a bit more benefit to the Paladin support level. While getting your name in the credits is nice, there can be a little more bang for your buck there. I've got what I wanted to do for it working, so I'm announcing it now.

Starting now, and in any future builds, I will also be putting up a Debug build for Paladin level supporters. This build will have all the same content as the public version, but will also allow access to the menus that I use for testing. If you want to break the game (either through making your squad exceedingly overpowered or just finding all the bugs), this will definitely let you do that!

I'll be putting up another post after this one for Paladin level supporters with more details, as well as a debug build of the current update, including some of the changes I've been working on for the last week or so

But if you're a non-Paladin who wants a non-exhaustive idea of what options the Debug menus would give you:

As always, thank you for the support, even if it isn't monetary. Even just discussion and enthusiasm about the game really brightens up my day AND my work!
