Nathan ‘Nate’ Russell

Nate is a lewd writer who makes erotic stories mostly focused on harems. He’s done so since his early high school years but back then he did it as fanfiction. He’s great at characters and worldbuilding but his sex scenes lack spice. His pen name is Max Masters, while his old fanfiction account went by HaremMaster69. He’s embarrassed of his old work’s contents, but not that he did it. He’s unashamed of who he is.

His favorite uncle died two years back and left him a surprising chunk of money, his house, and his possessions, which estranged him from a lot of his family since they didn’t get anything. Nate wasn’t always on good terms with his parents anyway, who were just generally not supportive of his interests which made him latch on to his uncle. His uncle was a sketchy type but super friendly, it’s unclear how he made so much money when all he did was get high, play video games and watch anime from Nate’s POV. Nate doesn’t use much of the money if he can help it, just to pay his bills.

Before his death his uncle told him to chase his dreams with that nest egg, do something stupid like in all those shounen anime we used to watch.

Prior to that, Nate worked two years in a retail job after high school. Department store cashier. He didn’t want to do college and was wanting to figure things out for himself, and he really wanted to make money through his writings. He tried to do commissions but no one was buying. His uncle’s death was what allowed him to take a chance, and for two years he’s been writing short stories and posting them on Amazon. Not much luck.

He’s very influenced by anime and his works are often inspired by specific things. A lot of his guy friends moved away for college and he feels lonely currently before meeting up with Nicky again and starting the story, and living in his dead uncle’s house doesn’t help.

Nicole ‘Nicki’ Parker

Nicki is a honors student turned college dropout who now works at Pizza Palooza as a delivery girl. In high school, she was the most popular/beautiful girl in school and in truly a genuine way. She was super nice to everyone, the teachers loved her, and she got straight A’s. She got a scholarship and left for some preppy college but didn’t last a year before it was too much. She’d been pretending to be someone she wasn’t her whole life and Nicki said fuck it, returning home.

Her parents did not approve and she’s been crashing with her older brother and his husband ever since while trying to figure herself out and work on her student loan/scholarship repayment. Their family is religious, not wanting much to do with her older brother, and Nicki is agnostic. Too optimistic to go full atheist. Her mother gave her a lot of shit for liking anime and games and junk like that, believing it to be satanic, while her father was distant and didn’t care much.

Her years since have actually been pretty great- no pressure, just finally getting to enjoy her hobbies without being shamed for them. She’s been through a few jobs but has it’s all good. She’s become friends with the other girls who will get roped into the harem in future installments in this time.

She’s had a crush on Nate since high school when he forgot his notebook once and she cracked it open and saw all his fanfic notes. She gave it back to him and joked a little about it, but he wasn’t ashamed of it at the time. He was serious about his work and his interests, and she was jealous he could be so open with himself like that, then teased she would be his first fan.

His handle was somewhere in it and she googled him and found his stuff and was even more impressed when she saw the kind of shit he wrote. This is a weird ass dude who sits around writing Naruro harem smut fics and I kinda vibe with that, she realizes.

From then on she’d chat him up in high school occasionally, which always was uncomfortable for him, and she secretly following and commenting on his online junk for years and will finally reach out when he vents about something on Twitter, leading to their reunion and subsequent relationship beginning.

She DMs him that he needs a hands on editor if he’s gonna improve, winky face. No but really, you’ve never had sex and are trying to write porn? He’d be skeptic but she’d send some suggestive pics and says I can be at your place in an hour. Given how this person is someone who’s been commenting on his junk for years, he caves and gives it a chance. The night’s events transpire, he learns that Nicki is super kinky and into him, and she becomes his ‘editor’ and they work on stuff together with the growing roster of other nerd girls.
