Rise of the Guild Master Vol 1 Outline (Patreon)
Content
A note before we begin. I have something to say in contrast to that update I shared yesterday. I thought I would be posting the first half of vol 1's outline today, but I have decided instead to split my plans for vol 1. The reason is very simple. The outline for Vol 3 of Coye was 22 pages and 9k words, and that book ended up at 500 page.
This outline? 45 pages and 20k words. Suffice to say, I think I have more than enough material in this outline alone to justify it being its own book.
I must state for the sake of importance, PLEASE provide feedback on this outline. Given that this changes many core things about the series, I need your opinions now more than ever.

Sam Intro
- We open on Sam riding a caravan, laying in a pile of hay. She's chatting to a kind older man who's driving it. She's been on this road for a while now and was glad to be out of Cransmere, she mentions how creepy it was.
- They'll be in Dewhurst soon, and the guy wonders what business she has there. Sam says she's gonna be an adventurer there.
- He is concerned and warns her that the Guild isn't really in business anymore these days last he heard, and that DH is a bad town, especially for a pretty thing like her. He suggests Perlshaw.
- Sam is like hell no, and she thought that DH was THE guild town. It was, but things changed. The man shrugs and says its none of his business though and is sure Sam can handle herself, what with that huge sword of hers.
- Sam bluffs about her abilities, and he points out you can see DW on the horizon.
- She remarks on it, its gray skies and how shitty it looks. Gross smoke, a dirty-looking river with supply boats departing from the docks bringing things downriver to Vurgestrom through the Gnarled Woods.
- She's distraught, if she changes her mind he offers to take her to Dawnstead if she'll keep up with the bodyguard bit, at least then he wouldn't have to hire one of the local thugs.
- Sam thinks about it but is determined not to leave until she checks out the legendary Guild at least. Guy understands.
- They pass into town after an inspection from the guards, which Sam lays low during.
- Entering the city, Sam sees how awful everything looks. The addicts, the homeless, the thugs, the dilapidated buildings. Everything puts the worst slums of Imperalis to shame.
- He stops the wagon at a store and gives Sam directions to the Guild, admits memory might be rusty, she thanks him.
- As soon as she steps away, a thug approaches with a knife and tries to extort the man.
- Sam can't believe how dangerous this place is and she turns around to save him, gets mad, but she evades and clocks him so hard that tons of his teeth go flying and he is knocked out.
- The man is stunned by Sam's strength and he thanks her, says he won't be worrying about her any more.
- Sam goes on her way, conscious of all the dirty looks because of her bikini armor. She groans to herself about how dumb an idea it was to run away with this thing, but figures that tons of female adventurers wear bikini armor so there's probably a reason for it.
- On her way to the Guild, she comes across a bulletin board where a poster of the missing Princess is displayed. She tears it up in a tizzy, but is relieved that her current look didn't match the poster very much.
- She approaches the Guild down the dirt road and she is overwhelmed by its shittiness, wonders how this happened. We get a description of its exterior.
- She opens up the door and interior desc, looks abandoned. She calls out, no response, so she walks up to the reception desk and calls out again. The door to GM's office opens and before she sees him, a bottle of liquor is flung at her. She dodges and is like wtf.
- Out stumbles the GM, angry and in his boxers. He yells about how he doesn't accept quests any longer. In his hand he clutches a piece of paper- Sam's poster in fact, and he was just jacking off to it.
- It is stated that although Sam might've seemed like it, she wasn't the hero of this story. This was about a man who would rise to the top of the world, while starting from the absolute bottom.
GM's perspective
- GM's day started like any other. He had a massive hangover, he was naked, and breakfast was whatever random shit he could scrounge together.
- After that, he sat around in his office reading shitty porn but finds nothing excites him anymore, and his libido isn't helping his mental state.
- He contemplates his lot in life but a lot is left vague. This GM is a bit different from the GM at the start of the old version. He's younger, but much more bitter and depressed. He's hung up on how hard he tried and he has no motivation to do anything.
- He's running low on gold and doesn't know what he'll do anymore. He's sold everything that could be sold, save for all his liquor, which wasn't on the table.
- He remembers hearing he's not cut out for this. The memory makes him drink a bit more and say fuck it.
- In his depression he wonders what it would've been like if he had one more chance, but knowing him, he'd probably fuck that up too.
- He manages to dredge himself up to check the mail, thinking there might be a new porn book he ordered. It's been longer than he thought since he last checked it, and there's a headline newspaper talking about Sam and how she's missing before her coming of age ceremony.
- GM has some real innapropriate thoughts about it to make him seem like a sleazeball, and the picture of her has her wearing a frilly dress that shows off big cleavage. He gets a little excited, but also he sighs and recognizes how disgusting he is. Doesn't stop him from going to his office and jacking off.
- He gets close, and then Sam enters and we get to where we left off.
- GM looks at the newspaper and then at Sam several times, his eyes gleaming with magical light. He's certain that it's her and thinks to himself how his money troubles will be over if he turns this girl in.
- Sam asks about the Guild and says she's here to be an adventurer, GM turns her down and points to the state of things here. He admits he was the GM once upon a time, and he refuses to tell her his name. Not important, he's nobody.
- Sam calls him out on being drunk, he says so?
- Sam threatens him to go sober up. GM scoffs at her, but Sam gets mad and breaks a table with her fist to show off her strength.
- GM says he'll be right with her.
- GM goes to take some meds and washes his face, clutching his eyes to avoid them getting hurt. He grumbles a bit to himself, but it doesn't last. Once he's a bit more sober, he calms down and realizes he should at least be cordial and see what he can do for the girl. He's still interested in turning her in, but doesn't think it's worth it with that kind of strength.
- GM returns and has pants on, apologizes for his behavior and reintroduces himself, asks what he can do for Sam.
- She wants what any adventurer wants- a place to stay and do quests from. He points out that he's not equipped to pay her, house her, or feed her appropriately and that she'll want to head to Perlshaw or Cransmere.
- Sam is adamant that it has to be here. GM assumes correctly that it's because they'd find her more easily in Perlshaw.
- GM asks why it has to be here, and she says she heard that DH used to be the best adventurer's town and she always wanted to come here.
- GM stresses that those days are long gone, and he can hardly remember them.
- Sam is like why, weren't you the GM back then? He says no his gpa was. Sam thought he was a lot older, but he gets mad and says he's only 26. Sam comments that alcohol really fucks a guy up. GM sighs.
- He gets real with her and asks what it will take to get her to leave him to his misery.
- Sam looks at him and is kinda grossed out, seeing that this man has completely clocked out in life and doesn't give a shit about anything anymore. Still, this is the perfect place to hide, and is certain no one will come looking for her in such a shithole, so she's desperate.
- Sam says he needs money, right? She suggests that as long as he gives her room and feeds her, then he can keep most of her adventuring profits. Maybe then he'd be able to afford to get some help around here.
- He is interested in the offer but needs a moment to think about it. He excuses himself and goes to his office, annoyed and unsure what to do. He paces around, thinking about how he was ready to give up. A small part of him sees the light of hope here, but his negativity overpowers it and downplays it- but not entirely.
- He's able to justify letting her stay for a while and seeing what happens, but has no real intentions to make it permanent. He goes and tells Sam the good news, and she thanks him. Her excitement awakens something in him that he tries to push down. Before agreeing for sure tho, he needs to see her license. Sam produces it out of her breastplate, tells him not to be weird about it. He notes how she has no last name or birthplace, gets an evasive answer.
- Sam is eager to go and prove herself, and GM is like good, I've got to clean you a room anyway. Sam gives him a bag of her possessions and tells him not to be a creep, GM tells her not to get her hopes up over the state of her room, says it will match the rest of the place. He haphazardly sets her off on a quest to kill slimes, explains that she needs to gather their cores and Sam hypes herself up before leaving.
- GM is exasperated at what occurred and expresses doubt about what he's gotten himself into.
Cleaning and slimes - GM has moved upstairs, we get a desc. of the 2nd floor of the Guild and the rooms he's planned on cleaning. It's awful, and he wonders about how he's going to do this. He remembers back when he made an effort, how he cleaned this place right alongside the maids until he could no longer afford to pay them, and even after that.
- GM sighs and forces himself to clean, but stops halfway through. He hates himself for how hard it's gotten for him to feel like doing things. He was tempted to quit and go find another drink, but he remembers how Sam is counting on him to have a place to stay. Tries to justify it as not being his problem, but he's always been weak to pretty girls and he forces himself to finish cleaning anyway. It's not a very good job, but it was better than he intended on doing.
- Just as he finishes, he hears the door opening downstairs but loud. He investigates, finds Sam covered in slime. He assumes she finished the job, but Sam hasn't and that's why she's so mad. GM is taken aback. He ends up teasing her a little, asking if that big sword is only for show. Thought she'd be earning her keep.
- Sam angry blushes and snaps back, it's not her fault slimes kept dodging her. She gets more emotional about it, and GM feels a little bad. He sees himself in her, asking if she's going to give up. Sam thinks about it, no, she's just frustrated. He's happy, giving up sucks. Sam asks if he's talking from personal experience. GM asks her what she thinks, gesturing to the rundown Guild.
- GM guesses she's never been trained to use that massive strength of hers, correct. He looks at her and sighs, thinking about what they can do about this before eventually saying he'll take her out himself and see if he can't help her out. Sam is a little surprised at how nice this seems, but GM reminds her he's only doing it so Sam can only bring him more drinking money.
- She is skeptical of his intentions but admits she probably can't do it herself as she is now and that maybe he might have an idea of what to do.
- From here, the chapter with the slimes would be rewritten and adapted to match the new narrative, but the same events will occur.
- New additions to the scene, there's a gag at the end where GM reveals she could've just walked up to the slime, stuck her hand in and pulled out the core. Some slimes are acidic, these ones aren't. Sam is like WTF why didn't you tell me I could do that?! and he's like you wouldn't learn anything that way. Sam asks if he's gonna teach her to fight or something and become her wise old mentor, he denies this, he can only teach her the basics. Reveals a long time ago he was passionate about wanting to help adventurers improve and he studied a great many things to do this.
Dinner
- When they get back, we diverge from the original story significantly. GM and Sam will not get together on the first day, and will be built up much longer.
- Things are a bit more optimistic between them, but there's still doubt on both sides. GM explains the process of turning in quests and getting paid to Sam.
- I plan on there being a Stardew Valley type magic box, to make things simpler in this version. All Guilds have them. Put monster parts and mail in, Association pays the following day and he can take money out from his magic safe. Sam thinks this seems really simplified, GM urges her not to think too much about it.
- Obviously the box doesn't work with local quests, since they'd have to deliver them to the client, but he jokes about how it's not like they'll be seeing any clients anytime soon. Sam wants to ask about why that's the case but holds her tongue.
- Once done explaining, he says he'll file the paperwork and then make dinner.
- Sam asks what she should do now, GM says get comfortable, change out of her armor, but Sam says her change of clothes is really dirty and asks if he has anything around. GM sighs, leads her to her room, goes and gets her an oversized shirt and some of his shorts to wear and says they can get her some clothes tomorrow. Sam looks at the room and its clear she finds it shitty, he preempts her by saying he did his best.
- Sam asks why he's being so defensive, GM says something cryptic in response but Sam doesn’t back down and gives him shit back.
- He stands at her doorway holding his forehead, before wearily giving in and sighing, not wanting to get into it with her. To make it up Sam her and asks if she really wants more help getting stronger. She says yes, he says he’ll help her tomorrow
- Sam wants to know if he can teach her how to fight, but the GM self-deprecating in his answer. He’s never fought a day in his life.
- He leaves to go do work, Sam changes and takes a minute to contemplate how things are going. She admits it could be better, but at the same time, she feels like it could be worse. GM is a confusing guy and she doesn’t know what to make of him. She admits this place is shit but as long as it gives her a chance to lie low and live her own life that’s enough for her. It beats home.
- After she decompresses for a while, GM calls her for dinner. She comes down and sees a hot meal and is actually impressed by his meal preparation skills. It looks good, really good. She’s actually a little suspicious about it since someone is shady as him doesn’t look like they could cook.
- GM adjust his glasses angrily and states that he has many talents which he cultivated in the hopes of running this guild. What sort of host can’t cook he asks her.
- Sam digs in and is extremely impressed. She scarfed it all down but apologizes for her manners, claims that she hasn’t had a good meal in weeks and weeks.
- GM raises an eyebrow and implies it’s been since she ran away from home. Sam denies this or plays it off. GM tells her not to worry, he doesn’t care what her story is so long as she brings in the gold like she promised.
- They eat in an uncomfortable atmosphere shared together. Sam eventually takes notice and how he keeps staring her on and off, and she says something about it because his glasses make it weird.
- She wants to know why he’s wearing sunglasses inside at night. GM says he has had a condition ever since he was a small boy. He gets an inappropriate smile on his face and asks Sam if she wants to see a neat trick.
- He takes his glasses off and we get a description of his weird pupiless eyes, and then he looks off into the other direction until he nearly collapses from pain and blood comes out of his eye sockets.
- Sam gets up to help him, but once she’s in his field of vision the pain stops. She asks what the fuck this is all about, and he explains that he has magical vision. He can see extremely good so long as he has his glasses, but without them he suffers from visual overload… Except whenever he’s staring at women.
- Sam doesn’t believe this and calls him out on it. GM shrugs and tells her it is what it is. Sam asks where he got the glasses, and this gets a distant expression from him. He admits that it was Dwarven made, a gift from his grandfather, but that doesn’t matter now.
- Sam jokes on how he’s really getting off on the whole mysterious thing, and he neither confirms nor denies.
- After dinner is done, GM and Sam go to bed. GM shows her where his room is in case she needs anything at night, the girl quips you wish. She makes a joke about his perverted eyes, but he threatens to kick her on the street and that gets her to shut up.
- He goes into his room, and we got some more of his thoughts. He’s thinking about Sam’s potential and how strong she could be if given the right training, but he loses his drive to his negativity and he ends up drinking and thinking to himself how something will end up going wrong.
2nd Day Start
- GM awakens with a hangover as Sam pounds on his door. She’s been awake for hours now, and she tried being patient but it’s already noon. She already helped herself to breakfast. He groans and throws a nearby bottle at his door, Sam opens it up and is like are you fucking joking? You dare throw a bottle at me?
- He looks up and is groggy, but he sees the cute girl wearing his loaner clothes and he looks a little pervy causing her to feel creeped out. He tells her he’s gonna need a few more hours though and lays back down. he could tell her about the hangover medicine but he decides not to.
- Sam is annoyed as hell and she goes downstairs to The kitchen to see if he has any water in the building that she can dump on him. She finds a bucket and ends up discovering that this building has arcane tech so she fills it with water.
- She comes back upstairs and throws it on his face, causing him to jolt awake. GM is startled and swears at her, but she isn’t hearing it. She says it’s no wonder his guild is the way it is if he just drinks day in and day out. He scrambles for his glasses and stands up, causing her to freak out because his shorts are riding up and his dick is hanging out.
- He fixes his shorts and rolls his eyes saying we aren’t doing this romantic comedy bullshit, you don’t get to act all surprised when you wake me up in the morning like this.
- Sam huffs and agrees, says she won't do the whole kyaa it's a dick thing, but the rest of him need to get up and not just his dick.
- He tells Sam that he’s up now and he has something in mind for her training. He wants her to get into her 'armor' and go around the grounds and pick up all the decently sized rocks she can find, points at the bucket and says use it to make a pile.
- Sam is like damn how drunk are you, that sounds stupid. He promises he’s going somewhere with this, and demands she give him the space to wake up and take some hangover meds and have his coffee.
- Sam groans and accepts, leaves him alone.
- GM is tempted to crawl back into bed and say fuck it to all of this, but he can’t bring himself to do it. He asks himself if he actually wants to help Sam, but he convinces himself that he’s just doing it to keep her out of his hair and get her to the point where she can earn him some money.
- Then he thinks to himself what good even is money anymore, wonders what he’d do with it. Fix the place up? Hire employees again? He feels a spark, but ignores it as he gets up.
Training
- We get a description of the training yard.
- GM comes out to find Sam has made a huge pile of rocks and she’s waiting for him in her armor. She asks if this is enough, he makes a joke about what, you took me seriously?
- She gets mad but he calms her saying he was just joking. He has her take the same pose as yesterday, she asks if he’s gonna grope her again, GM asks if she wants him to and she rolls her eyes. She wants to know what the plan is, and GM picks up a rock, inspects it, and throws it at her face.
- Sam slaps it away with her sword and freaks out, asks what the fuck that was for. GM explains that she has trouble swinging her sword around efficiently, so it’s up to her to guard and attack against the rocks.
- Sam is like well what if I didn’t hit it just now? GM says it would’ve hit you in the face. Sam is angry, but GM is calm as he asks if she wants to get stronger or not, and that gets her to focus on it and allow this to happen.
- GM puts Sam through hell and she struggles a lot, and he corrects her whenever her form is slipping. Sam is determined, but sloppy. GM puts her on her toes by performing feints, nailing her with a few rocks but she stops complaining about it after a while.
- When the rock pile is half depleted a half hour later, GM says we can stop whenever you need to but Sam is adamant on continuing. He sees the determination in her eyes even with how exhausted she is, and his fist tightens around the rock. He contemplates forcing her to stop but he wonders if she has what it takes to really pull it off.
- Sam taunts him for standing around, and GM gives in and resumes throwing, watching Sam steadily improve even as she gets more and more tired. GM has the unpleasant realization that her determination reminds him of himself when he was younger.
- She stumbles when there’s a quarter of the rocks left and GM helps her up and brings her to the bench.
- Sam thanks him for the help. She is dejected at how she couldn’t make it through but GM cheers her up saying she did a whole lot better than most rookies would. He has her wait a moment, then comes back with a towel and a big cold drink for her.
- Again, she’s awkward about him being nice, and is still a little sulky and ends up asking him how many adventurers he’s overseen in his career.
- A lot, but they’re all gone nowadays. She asks if he's ever helped anyone out with their training like this, and he says no.
- Sam wants to know if he thinks she could really make it as an adventurer, and GM tells her not to think like that. Asks her if being an adventurer is what she wants more than anything, and Sam says it is. She wants to be strong enough to kick that new Demon Lord's ass.
- GM is stunned at this and laughs, asking if she means that incident in Bridgebury a few years back? Sam asks if there's something funny about a village almost getting destroyed, and GM shrinks back. He says that 'Demon Lord' hasn't been seen since, it was probably just a minor Demon Prince who got lucky.
- Sam doesn't care, and she says she wants to be strong enough to put down threats like that and keep people safe, and she also wants to go on cool adventurers and shit in between saving the realm.
- GM can tell she's serious, and he remembers telling his gpa how he wanted to run the best Guild in the whole Realm. He laughed at the boy, and GM realizes he just laughed at her dream and feels shitty.
- He tells her than forget worrying about if she can or not and just do it anyway. If you want something, chase it, even if the whole world tells you not to. Internally he thinks he’s not qualified to give this advice, but Sam is really appreciative.
- Sam ends up asking what GM wants out of life, and he’s introspective but says he wants nothing anymore. After a bit of prodding, he reveals that he used to want ‘everything’ and leaves it at that for now.
- Tells her to have a breather and they’ll go into town once she’s settled to get her some clothes.
Market
- They had a quick lunch, GM takes out gold from his vault and puts it into his magic wallet (which is still a present from Opal in the reboot, just something she gave him a long time ago now) and then they go out into the city proper.
- Sam has changed into his clothes and doesn’t know when she’ll ever get used to how crappy this town is. GM advises her to complain louder if she wants to get shanked sooner.
- Sam notices that there are a ton of eyes on them as they pass through the city, or more specifically, there are lots of eyes on GM. Lots of shady people around staring.
- She jokes and asks how many people he owes money to, but GM tells her to do her best and ignore it. They hate him, but they rarely do anything about it. Sam asks if there’s any special reason the whole town seems to hate him, and he’s cagey about it.
- They make it to the market and Sam has a good look at the place. We got a detailed description of it and how shady the place is. She remarks how the worst parts of Imperalis aren’t anywhere near this bad, The GM makes a comment about her coming from there and implies something about her origin, so Sam decides to tell a white lie and explain she is the daughter of a wealthy merchant who snuck away to escape life.
- GM knows this is bullshit but he plays along jokingly, leaving it up in the air as to whether or not he believes her. He softens up a bit though and gives in, telling her it doesn’t matter where she’s from or who she is. Sam thinks he’s going to be nice about it, but he kept it off saying as long as she keeps making him money.
- Rather than calling him an asshole or something, she actually laughs and playfully ribs back. We get the first inklings of their relationship starting to show here.
- They go to a clothing store and they buy her several hundred gold worth of clothes. Sam is a little surprised that he would spend more money on her than they made with the slimes, but he told her not to make a big deal about it. She’s going to be bringing in a lot of gold if he has anything to do with it so consider this an upfront investment in her cost of living.
- Sam is starting to catch on the GM is a lot nicer than he likes to pretend he is, so he threatens to put her back on a budget at which point Sam defends her horde of clothing.
- This interaction makes him feel good about himself but as they leave the building they get accosted by some thugs who harass GM in vague terms about him fucking up the city. Sam steps forward and threatens them, and the thugs are surprised to see him out with a woman.
- They ask where he found the prostitute, and Sam gets really angry but GM stops her from acting out. He tells the group that Sam is his newest adventurer, and at first the thugs are in disbelief until they all start laughing like crazy at him. They talked and say things like haven’t you had enough chances or how are you gonna fuck this one up?
- GM is silent until Sam intercedes and beats them bloody. She tells them to run along, and then they fuck off into a nearby alley because they hear the city gardens approaching. One of the thugs says this isn’t worth it, and they don’t want Niall to fuck them up.
- While in the alley Sam is beside herself and wondering why the fuck GM just stood there and took it. He told her that engaging in their taunts isn’t worth his time, and he’s spiteful about the fact that they’re not entirely wrong. Sam thinks he should stand up for himself more but the Guild Master doesn’t see much point in correcting them, considering they’re right.
- Sam wants to know what the GM means, and he nonchalantly mentions that it’s his fault the town is in such a bad state. Sam doesn’t believe that and thinks he’s just being overly negative because he is a depressive alcoholic, but GM shrugs it off and says truth is stranger than fiction or something along those lines.
- GM asks if Sam is ready to go home, but she wants to know if there’s anywhere they could look at getting her some armor. GM isn’t very excited about the prospect, because there isn’t much armor and weapons in the town that don’t go to one of the many different crime factions all vying for control over one another. They can look but he doesn’t promise any results. GM admits it would be good if they could get her out of her bikini armor though. Sam crosses her arms and jokes about how he wants to see her without her armor and he rolls his eyes.
- They stop by a blacksmith and take a look at his wares, only to find that everything on sale is very cheap and poor quality. GM remarks about how they used to be all sorts of different blacksmiths in town where you could buy magical weapons and armors, but the only people that are left are ordinary folk to poor to move elsewhere. Sam is very upset, and they don’t have anything that would fit her anyway.
- GM suggests that they look in the market stalls but there’s no doubt anything good would be out of their price range. Sure enough, they find a merchant who is selling decent quality wares at exorbitant prices. It is here that they find the suit of armor that Sam falls in love with.
- The merchant begins the sales pitch and talks about how this is to belong to a strong adventurer, and Sam, simple as she absolutely loves the idea of it. However, GM knows this type of merchant, he’s someone who keeps his ear to the ground for any dead adventurers and then hires scavengers to seek out their loot. It’s a shady business but he admits it’s probably better than letting their treasures go to waste.
- Sam is super bummed out about the price of the armor, and she makes a joke about how much GM wants to really invest in her. He says he doesn’t have that kind of gold right now, but if he did… He thinks about whether or not he actually would go the extra mile for this girl. There might be ways for him to finance the armor, but he keeps this to himself and doesn’t actually plan on doing so.it’s not like Sam will turn into a pro just because he splurges and get her some armor, he needs to train her better first, but then he catches himself thinking about taking this seriously and he begins to grow conflicted.
- Sam asks what’s up and GM reminds himself that even if Sam has the talent, she’s not going to stick around forever and will eventually have to move on to bigger and better things if she doesn’t end up returning to her family at some point. GM says it’s nothing and that they should return home for now. The merchant mentions that he will be in Dewhurst for several weeks and they are free to come back to the armor some other time. GM is skeptical that would ever happen and they leave.
Home
- They return home and they have dinner, afterward Sam asks what he thinks they should do tomorrow. He says that she could probably tackle another very low-level monster if she wishes to pay him back for all those clothes. Sam is very pumped at the idea of doing so, and GM tries his best not to smile at her enthusiasm.
- She asks what he plans to do for the rest of the night since he doesn’t need to do any paperwork, and he mentions how he’ll probably go read. Sam asks if he’s gonna be drinking again, and he remains silent on the matter. She sighs and suggests that they do another round of training. GM is surprised, but she is enthusiastic about getting better and he finds it hard to say no to her. Sam gathers up all the rocks after getting his permission and they spend another hour working on her form. After a certain point, he starts throwing rocks at several feet away from her position so that she actually has to start moving. Her footwork is clumsy and she isn’t always able to hit the target but it clearly does her a lot of good.
- Once they are done Sam is in a great mood and GM again finds it difficult not to be infected by her positivity. Gives her some praise and Sam is weirdly receptive to it because of her latent daddy issues. She asks if there’s any way she can get a bath around here. She doesn’t trust going to a local bathhouse, and she knows that GM has arcane tech in his Guild so she assumes he has a shower or bath somewhere.
- GM says it she’s correct and that they have a shower/bathtub- but it’s in his master bedroom. Sam asks what the hell are all of his employees and adventurers supposed to do, and the GM points at a building past the training hall which is indeed a bathhouse but it’s in a sorry state at the moment. After he had to start letting go of employees, it was the first thing that deteriorated because one person clean the whole bathhouse on their own.
- Sam grumbles and caves, asking if he will let her use his shower and not be weird about it. GM wants to know why she assumes he would be weird about it, and she points out his weird pervert eyes that can only look at women. GM tries to claim that has nothing to do with his character while ignoring the fact that he’s a porn addict with a gigantic libido who used to have very lofty ambitions when it came to women also, she literally interrupted him spanking it to her “wanted” poster like… yesterday.
- GM leads her to his bedroom and Sam is overwhelmed by the smell of years of jerking off alone. She references Olivier, saying it smells even worse than her little bro's room. GM asks if she wants to shower or not, she says yes but opening a window wouldn’t kill anyone. He does so and then sets out an outfit for her on the bed. GM goes away and told her to call him if she needs anything, Sam laughs like what am I gonna need, for you to come in and join me? He tells her not to test him and leaves.
- Sam reflects on day in the shower. She remembers some of why she left home and hopes that people aren’t too worried about her. She feels exhausted today after all the training and she’s feeling proud of herself, but she hasn’t really had time to relax in a while. She thinks it might be a little rude to do it in here, but it’s better than that stuffy bedroom so she decides to masturbate.
- It’s mostly just lewd for lewds sake early on, but it gives Insight into some of her thoughts and feelings and how she ended up in Dewhurst. By the time she is done, she’s doing a lot better. Sam finishes her shower and she gets out. With her towel wrapped around her, she goes out and gets the clothes only to find out that there’s a rat on top of them. The rat is the one that will go on to become Little Sir.
- Sam tries to get it away but it runs off and takes her clothes with it. She chases after it in her towel and follows it downstairs only for GM to come out of his office and see her running around in a towel. She dives after the rat and it drops her clothes but she ends up exposing herself to GM.
- She knocks him out but once she’s dressed she feels bad about it and brings him upstairs to his room. When he wakes she apologizes and says it’s not his fault, but this wouldn’t happen if he kept the place more clean. GM is disappointed because it’s not like he can clean all of this by himself. He tried.
- Sam suggests that maybe they can put in some work around the place sometime soon. GM doesn’t know and seems to be evasive about the topic of cleaning. He promises her he’ll think about it and tells her to go off to sleep for the night since she’s going to be on a quest tomorrow. Sam gets him to promise he won’t drink too much before bed, and he jokingly says yes mom or something like that.
- After she leaves he looks at a bottle and thinks about it. He decides not tonight, but he does end up jacking it thinking of Sam. He can only be so much of a good person and one day he says. Sam knocks a couple of times and then enters asking if she can have one of his dirty books or something to read, she’s super bored but then freezes when she sees him.
- She lingers on it and finds it intriguing but slams the door. He tells her that he has some books in his office and she tells him to have fun or whatever. It’s awkward but not tsundere about it.
Next day
- GM awakens the next morning at a reasonable hour and he is shocked at himself for waking up before noon. He can’t remember the last time this has happened and it actually feels kind of nice. He gets dressed in casualwear and considers barging in on Sam to see if she is awake but then decides he’s better than her and calls out to her. She doesn’t respond so he decides to go ahead and make breakfast ahead of time.
- As he makes food and has his coffee, GM is in an introspective mood and he remembers doing this years and years ago when he tried to run the guild. He didn’t ever think a time would come again where he’d put effort in, and even he isn’t sure if this is going to last or not yet.
- He decides to make the most of his good mood before something bad happens again and fucks it all up. GM gets annoyed his negativity and shrugs it off, reminding himself that Sam is depending on him. Do it for Sam.
- Sam comes down not long after he starts cooking and calls out to him that she is awake. He brings food out in a few more minutes and when she sees him she blushes a little. GM feels a little playful and teases her if somethings wrong.
- He doesn’t get full on flirty but jokes back about sexual harassment in the workplace. He ends up bringing up how guild master can’t enter relationships with their adventurers or employees but for the first time he mentions how the Dewhurst guild is special and he’s technically not bound to their laws.
- Hypothetically he could hook up with an adventurer, not that he ever has. Sam is interested in knowing why the hell he is allowed to do that, and GM reveals a bit about his grandfather and how this guild was an experiment.
- Sam is impressed, but GM says it’s got a whole lot of other problems to make up for it. If the Guild fails than the Guild fails, no help from the association. GM wants to move the conversation along and not talk about the stuff first thing in the morning.
- After breakfast, Sam gets all suited up and asks GM what the plan is for today. He tells her slimes again. Sam is obviously upset about this, but GM explains that there's more to it than that. She'll be learning how to multitask today, as to really make it as an adventurer it often helps to kill multiple birds with one stone.
- He puts a flier on the table, illustrated heartroot. He explains that adventurers not only kill monsters and raid dungeons, but they procure things for others- ingredients, rare foods and such- and there are certain things that the Association is always looking for and willing to pay for. Heartroots are one of them. They're a superfood and one of the most important components of healing potions.
- The AoA pays adventurers to gather them, processes them, and sells them back via subscriptions at hugely inflated prices. Sam thinks that sounds really shitty, GM agrees, but shitty is what brings the profit. Sam picks up that GM sounds a little annoyed at the idea, but he shrugs it off.
- He doesn't care, what matters is making money.
- Sam notices an intense glare in his eyes and she feels compelled by it, asks if he's put some thought into the what he's going to do once they start making real money yet. GM hesitates, and Sam decides to ask about it later. They set off after he gets lunch and all that prepared.
Gather Quest
- Back on the plains of Arrark, Sam is reaping the results of her training. Her movements are better, her sword swings faster, and she is proud of herself. Once again, GM is happy for her but he forces himself to play the role of a hardass because he's noticing that she starts getting a big head. He points this out himself, and Sam admits to having her an ego problem every so often.
- It's gotten her into trouble before, but she mentions it runs in the family.
- GM has an eye opening moment as he recalls what he'd read in history books. We get an overview of House Lundreame- starting from Rhoivandis and covering how the line has seen just as many tyrants, imbeciles and madmen as it had just rulers. He wonders if Sam will end up being more trouble than she's worth, but when he sees the smile on her face after killing another slime, he sighs to himself and says it's a problem for some other day. He jokes how Sam doesn't seem genocidal or anything, at least, which is more than can be said of some of her ancestors.
- After clearing up a few slimes, GM points out a nearby heartroot and Sam is eager to pull it up. GM prepares a knife and explains how you need to dig the area around it and cut the roots since it's really strong, but Sam is like huh? and has already pulled it up with her massive strength, roots and all. GM isn't surprised.
- Heartroots are bright red and they look like actual human hearts, beating and all. They're pretty creepy, but the beating stops after a few seconds. Sam feels worse about killing the vegetable than she does about killing the slimes, and they share a small laugh.
- Two hours pass and GM is cool with the amount they've gathered. He can't carry much more bags of slime cores and heartroots, and Sam is starting to get worn out. She's annoyed about not getting to push forward but he reminds her she's not used to this lifestyle before. She says she used to run around town all the time, he points out not with a giant metal bar strapped to her back.
- There's a joke about if her tits not already giving her back problems, then her sword will. Sam laughs and calls him a perv, and they sit down together for a minute to rest before heading back.
- Sam points out how the day's work was pretty good, and GM agrees and says she covered her clothing debt and then some. Sam not so subtly tries to guide him into buying some cleaning supplies and he says he has them, and it's not about the money it's about the motivation.
- Sam tries to get his desires out of him again and GM is surprised she's so stubborn about this issue. Sam admits to not being able to give things up, and she again pushes him on the topic saying he's doing so much for her and yet she still barely even knows him. GM retorts how Sam is being secretive herself, which shuts her up.
- Says she has her reason, GM replies similarly. There's a serious moment where Sam asks dead on why he doesn't want her knowing anything else about him, and it looks like he might open up a bit, but they're interrupted by something GM notices approaching. He stands up, hands her some bags and tells her to get hurrying.
- She's surprised/confused and is like what why, and GM explains how there was actually another lesson she has to learn today. Running away. There's a Slimeslurper Bear drawn by the smell of all the cores they were carrying, and GM has Sam throw a couple to distract it and they make it out, comedy tone to the scene
That Night
- Sam is hanging out in GM's office as he works on paperwork, reading one of his lewd books. She makes fun of a line in it, mentions that they really need to get more fun shit to do because she's gonna lose her mind if she reads too much more of this junk. GM promises they can look into it, then finishes up the paperwork and dumps most of their stuff into the bin save for about fifteen heartroots.
- Sam asks about it and he explains that they're part of dinner. His gpa used to provide free meals for his adventurers by serving up certain monsters and other things that they brought him and Sam is interested. Asks if you can eat slime cores and GM says yes, so she's down for it if it means saving more gold.
- GM is amused and tells her to have fun with the porn while he makes dinner. After he leaves, he looks back and sees her on the couch. It occurs to him he didn't even remember allowing her into his office, she just did it and hung out with him and it felt natural. She asks if something's wrong, he dismisses it and says it's nothing.
- Internally, he's confused. They've known each other for three days, but there seems to be some chemistry developing and he isn't sure how to respond to it. Her armor doesn't help, and he's scared his desires might get out of control, and he curses these eyes of his. He mutters something about if only he didn't enter that cave, and then goes and makes dinner.
- He makes a steak with heart roots and he flattens the cores with a rolling pin and covers them in sugar before baking them, making chewy treats that are quite nutritional.
- He calls Sam and she's down with it, takes a bite and he warns her that it's burning but it has no effect on her. Slime things taste real good, but asks about drinks. He says he'll go get tea, but she asks for something stronger. He raises a brow and she says what, don't want to share a drink with me? He's like aren't you trying to get me not to drink? She says she'll stop him from getting too drunk and that they did real good today, he deserves a reward.
- GM allows it to happen and he returns with beer. Sam is surprised with the quality, GM asks what would she know about quality- she just had her coming of age ceremony a few months ago.
- Sam is like what you never snuck a few drinks before you were of age? Then she's like wait I never mentioned it was my coming of age- but GM moves on and doesn't mess with her over it. Explains his gpa left him a ton of amazing booze when he died ages ago, Sam is like yikes, silver lining at least.
- Dinner passes and it gets to the point where they're just drinking. Sam's had two, GM has had four, and his mind is much less coherent than hers. We now see a more devious side to Sam, as she makes it obvious she got him drunk so he'd talk a bit more about himself.
- She steers the conversation to be about him, getting him to tell her about his gpa. He explains a bit of the story, how his dad dropped him off here and dumped him on his gpa to raise. He was a hard man, a bitter, miserable one, but he was good to him in his own way. Most of the time.
- Sam asks about the bad times and GM shrugs saying there were a few major fights, neither of which turned out good. One led to his eyes, and the other... he takes a drink.
- Sam stands up and sits next to him and she pats him on the back, saying it's ok, she knows all about shitty families. She goes on a rant about how shitty her dad is, and GM is apologetic and proposes a toast to shitty families. They clink tankards and when he's finished, GM sighs and admits he should prolly stop.
- Sam wants to keep talking, using her puppy dog eyes to guilt him into staying. What, you don't like hanging out with me?
- GM says he's her boss, it's weird. She counters they're the only two people in the building and there's nothing to do but hang out, drink and read porn. He relents reluctantly, and Sam steers back to what they were talking about before they ran away from the bear.
- GM knows her dream, so she wants to know what his is. He says he doesn't have one anymore, Sam is like then what was it and what did you mean when you said you wanted everything.
- GM is drunk enough to fall for the trap and asks if she really wants to know. Sam does, so he downs the rest of his drink and stands up, throwing his mug.
- He claims his dream used to be for this to be the best damn guild there is, but not only that. He wanted everything this realm has to offer. Money, power, women- all of it. He espouses his endless desires to the point where he starts coming off like a villain, but surprisingly, Sam is into it.
- She can feel that there's something special about the GM, and she tries to goad him into doing something about it if he really wants all that stuff. GM's flight of fancy ends and he sinks back down, exclaiming it's too late for that now. He's never had power, never had wealth, and as for women, he's never even... he stops and Sam is like what seriously, you're how old again? He slams his fist on the table saying he was to busy to ever pursue any.
- He stares at Sam for a moment and they both feel awkward about the topic of romance and GM tries to break off, saying this is only getting weird. Sam agrees, but calls him a coward. For someone with all those wants and desires, he's done jack shit about the cutie sitting right next to him. GM teases her and says she's too young for him, and Sam somehow seriously doubts that.
- He asks what she's implying, but she leans in and looks at him all sexy like, teases him with a lonely voice, only to start laughing when he freezes up.
- GM is grumpy and he hobbles over to the stairs, then looks back at Sam mock-threateningly and says it's a good thing for her sake that he doesn't have the ambition to do anything to her. Sam jokes that it sounds like sexual harassment, and she dares him to make a move. He ignores her and tries to escape upstairs, but he topples and Sam has to come and help him up. She drops him off at his bad and looks at him with concerned eyes, wonders if she got him too drunk.
- She remembers the look in his eyes and the conviction in his words, and she reaches down to take off his glasses for him and look at his sleeping face. Sam gets the feeling he's the sort of person who could get everything he wanted if only he tried, so she wonders aloud what the hell happened to make him the way he is now.
- Sam sighs, and then puts on his sleeping mask for him-assuming it must be for his special eyes- and she heads to bed, her mind full of questions and an odd desire to see what the future holds.
Cleaning Day
- GM awakens hungover yet again, but after scrambling for his glasses he dips his finger into a glass of water and finds Sam left him some hangover medicine on his nightstand. Thinking about Sam makes him feel awkward, although he can't fully remember what he said last night. He opens up the curtain and sees Sam training with her sword without him, so he opens up the window and calls out to her.
- Sam teases, well if it ain't the future harem king himself. Sleep good?
- GM asks what exactly he said, and she does a mocking impersonation of him repeating his aspirations for power, wealth, and she calls him out on how much emphasis he put in women. GM defends himself, saying he has such a high libido it would take a dedicated team to keep on top of it. The two laugh, and GM asks if she ate yet.
- He makes a quick breakfast for them and after they're done he starts talking about a potential plan for the day but Sam interrupts him. She suggests that maybe they could take the day and put in some work around the place, cleaning. GM is skeptical over whether or not Sam has ever cleaned before in her life, and she dodges the question as beside the point.
- GM is dejected, asks what that would accomplish. Sam says he'll be in a better mood if they got at least the entrance hall taken care of a bit. It's not like they need to clean all three wings top to bottom. Sam also says he'll need it to look better if they get more adventurers and clients, right?
- GM pinches the bridge of his nose and says he's not sure what all he said last night, but he's certain his time is up and he's lost his chance to make this whole Guild thing work. Sam challenges him on it and says he doesn't sound too convinced of that, and she bets him he can't say that to her face. She goes on to claim she's his last chance, and he retorts Goddess help me.
- Sam asks what she has to do to motivate him to put some work in, and she asks if his perverted ass wants to touch her tits or something. GM is shocked she would suggest that, but when he sees she's dead serious he's even more shocked. He asks why she's so hell bent on getting him to do this, Sam gets upset and reaffirms that he sees potential in her, right? He says yes, and she's like well I see potential in you, isn't that enough?
- GM is put on the spot, and he gets a little emotional over the concern Sam is showing for him. It's been a long time since anyone was in his corner like this, and it does inspire him a little. He consents at last to spending the day cleaning, and Sam gets psyched up for it and she goes off to change clothes and she returns with a cute ponytail.
- GM assembles all the cleaning supplies as well as a number of rat traps, and we get a description of how long and hard the cleaning is. We cut back in a few hours into the session, and GM is exhausted and covered in sweat. He asks if it'd be sexual harassment for him to take his shirt off, Sam gaudes him into it.
- She is shocked to find out he's fairly ripped and is like woah do you work out, and he explains he's always had a naturally muscular body. She comes up to him and touches his abs, almost drooling saying you don't say. GM quips about how silly it was for him to be worried about sexual harassment, and she rips her hand back, blushing.
- The cleaning continues until both are physically exhausted, laying down on the newly cleaned floor side by side and drenched in sweat. Sam congratulates him, mission accomplished. Somehow. GM can't believe it, but yes. Sam asks if it feels good, and he can't deny that it does.
- Sam ends up asking him what the real reason was for him giving up on his dreams, besides old age. He ignores the tease and says that it's a long story.
- Sam reminds him that it's not like she has anything else to do.
- GM opens up a bit and reminds her that this guild is special in that its allowed to do whatever it wants without AoA oversight, but only so long as a member of his family was acting Guild Master. He is hesitant to explain why his gpa died, but when he did, it was either lose his home to the AoA or run this place himself. Sam asks how long ago was that, and he says he was ten.
- Sam is in disbelief. A ten year old can't ruin a business, but GM says he had no other option. Sam starts to assume this means he never even wanted to be a GM, but he cuts her off and said it was his dream anyway.
- He had help, at first, and a family friend made sure he was taken care of, fed, and spoiled rotten. But a kid can't run a business and no one respected him, funds dried up, and by the time he was 21 thing were already dying. Then, the Bridgebury incident happened and the Perlshaw Guild constructed. All his remaining regulars drifted off, until he was a glorified inn for travelers headed to Perlshaw.
- Sam sees it now, why he gave up, and she wonders what she would've done. GM says he doesn't need her pity, and she gets angry saying it's not pity, she's genuinely concerned for him. GM apologizes, says he's not used to people caring. She asks about the family friend, GM cryptically hints that she's mad at him and refuses to elaborate. GM admits that she would've helped if only he'd ask, but he was stubborn and still is.
- Sam reaches over and grabs his hand smiling, saying he's got help now, and GM is overwhelmed. He squeezes her hand back for a moment, but then takes it away and Sam frowns as she realizes she still has a ways to go before really breaking through to him. GM suggests she hit the shower and he'll make dinner, and she jokes about missing the chance to see him cooking like a badass without his shirt on? fat chance. He dismisses her and rolls his eyes, then he slinks back to the kitchen, before looking back at the cleaned room. it's still full of structural problems, but it's amazing progress.
- His head is full of thoughts of Sam. How she pushed him, her upbeat attitude, everything about her. He slinks against the door and grumbles, cradling his head as he tries to downplay his feelings for her and how it would only be trouble. He reminds himself that she's a fucking runaway Princess and that the entire Realm is looking for her, and he could be in trouble for harboring her. Even so, he's unable to fully deny his want for her.
Living Fungi
- We cut to the next day where GM is already done cooking breakfast, and Sam is waiting in the hall. We get a sense that he's settling into a routine, and it's doing good for him. Once they're done, Sam asks if the plan for today is training or work. Work, but also training. He has an idea to procure both.
- GM produces a quest flyer for Living Fungi and says a bit about them, Sam saw one on her way here. Sam asks him how there are always quests if no one registers any here anymore, and GM gives an explanation about how many monsters you can just go out and slay them at any time for pay. These are association quests paid for by the Duke of each province. All monsters have a bounty ascribed to them, and it's actually a little bit higher than the one on the paper since there's a cut to both the GM and the AoA, but the price on the paper is what the adventurer gets.
- Sam is confused but mostly follows along, admits to not being good at the math. GM provides the example and Sam gets it then, but to cheer her up GM tells her that they'll be able to eat the Fungi and Sam is interested and perks up. As she gets ready to go, she asks him how he's feeling in an out of the blue tender moment. He admits to being in a better mood now that the place is cleaner, and Sam is satisfied.
- On their way out, they walk away from the building only to hear a voice from behind them- saying so it's true in a playful way.
- They turn around and are met with Niall, who is obviously being introduced much earlier and who will have a much different role in the reboot*.
- He congrats GM for getting the place up and running again, and GM has a more playful response to him than in the old version. He crosses his arms and says yes, you're free to come back to work anytime you know.
- Sam is confused, are you friends with this bum? GM shrugs, saying friend is a bit of a stretch. Niall takes a swig and narrows his brow, looking at the two of them. He asks GM if he's fucking the help, Sam freaks out and GM is defensive about it, but Niall laughs it off and is just messing around.
- Niall takes it that he doesn't feel like sharing a drink (even though it's barely afternoon) and GM is like yeah. Niall is pleased with this answer, tells him it's good to see you out and about. GM thanks him wearily, and Niall asks a bit about Sam in a friendly manner. He can tell she's super inexperienced at adventuring just by looking at her, and although defensive, she admits it's true.
- Niall jokes there's no better town for adventuring than Dewhurst.
- GM suggests Niall stop by sometime and give her some pointers, maybe try and teach her a few Arts but Niall jokes that just because GM is going clean and putting in work again it doesn't mean he's about to do the same. He downs more booze and reiterates he's no teacher, but hopes GM will be able to find one for Sam sometime. Kid's gonna need it.
- Niall gets up to leave, but not before GM telling him that the old man would be proud to see him working again. GM's expression grows tense, and he says he seriously doubts that. Niall shrugs, admits he's probably right, that old bastard.
- Niall asks if he can nap in one of the dirty rooms as long as he's gone by the time they get back, GM says knock yourself out. Sam warns him not to go around messing in her room, Niall jokes about how unlike GM he's not interested in some brat's panties, then he waves them off and leaves them both blushing.
- As they leave, Sam asks for context and is irritated. GM explains that Niall is an old adventurer who worked here in his gpa's day. They were close back then, but Niall gave up and is now little more than a drunk transient. They still see each other from time to time, and he looks out for GM.
- Sam points out he's a bad influence, coming by to drink with GM in the afternoon, which GM admits yeah, well, it's complicated. Sam asks if he has any other shady friends she needs to know about, GM denies the idea.
- She tries to ask about the mysterious gpa, but again GM avoids the topic much to Sam's annoyance.
- From here on I will take the original vs Living Fungi chapter and rewrite it to match the new events using the original as a base. I don't expect much to change, the point is still to teach her to think during a fight and to avoid the spores, and she gets the hang of it after a while. GM is proud. Sam ends up asking about Arts when they're done, and GM says you ever wonder how people with swords can do fancy moves and how people wear bikini armor without getting hurt? Tells her the basic premise and Sam is super hyped up, when do I start.
- GM doesn't know the first thing about teaching someone how to do them, you can't really teach them through a book. Sam is dejected. GM tells her she really would be better off at another Guild more equipped to help her out, but Sam isn't hearing it. He's done right by her so far, give or take the sexual harassment.
- He's amused as they head home, he prepares the mushroom steak, and GM spends another fun night hanging out with Sam. They have an awkward moment where they go to bed and don't really know how to say goodnight to each other, Sam looks a little expectant but GM won't respond to it.
- When Sam is alone in bed, she grumbles about how he's a fucking coward but at the same time she's well aware of how weird things are between them and how fast she feels herself getting closer to him. She notes the obvious chemistry, how fun it is being with him, how he's kinda hot, but as she's never felt like this before Sam has no fucking idea what to do.
- She thinks about writing to Zutiria but decides against it, as it's not like Zuzu has ever had any romantic experience. Sam is real confused about what she wants as she goes to bed.
*Niall was set up as a villain down the road in the original, but I don't want to pursue that in this version. Now, he's a recurring confidant and GM's ally with extremely shady connections. GM doesn't really had any male friends in the old version, so this will help with that as well. There's not as much tension between them either, and Niall has been a fairly steady part of his life even if he didn't help GM much.
Incident
- There's an aura of awkwardness hanging around them the next day, both acting strangely distant. The awkwardness gets to the point where Sam outright asks if there's something he wants to say to her, and GM deflects it.
- Sam is like come on and show some balls, you never know what might happen if you're honest about what you want. GM raises a brow and asks Sam what exactly she thinks he wants, and she teases him a little back. She gets annoyed when he ignores her attempt at getting his interest.
- GM points out her need for attention and asks if daddy didn't love her enough, and Sam grumbles something back at him.
- GM thinks Sam should train today, but Sam is agitated and wants to work through her feelings by fighting. It takes some pushing but she gets him to agree, and rather than a specific target he says they'll just see what comes up- there are times when she's adventuring and not knowing what to expect, so this will count as training for dealing with the unknown.
- Sam asks how long he's going to keep accompanying her on quests, and GM admits that it's not something he can do forever. She'll get stronger and be able to head to more dangerous locations, and she'll have to rely on her own skills and experience. Sam awkwardly mumbles how that sucks and she wishes he could always provide guidance, before masking the comment by saying since he's so smart and all and how useful he is.
- GM tells Sam he believes in her, reinforces the idea that she should really think about going somewhere that can better see to her development. Sam still isn't hearing it, and there's a tense moment where Sam asks if he's really that desperate to get rid of her.
- GM says no, he's just thinking about what's best for her, and this language pisses Sam off really bad. She's had enough of people telling her what's best for her, and GM realizes this has something to do with her royal upbringing and drops it. He apologizes, but Sam is dismissive and just wants to hurry up and go kill shit.
- Cut to hours later out on the plains, and Sam has killed slimes, fungi, and even a few minor goblins. They've got a good haul, and GM is suggesting they head home. Sam is still frustrated about things, and nothing has really helped her. She's in a bad mood and wants to keep going.
- They run into a Slimeslurper Bear again and Sam asks if GM thinks she could take it now that she's had a lot of training, but GM doesn't want her to. It's still too early, but she asks how much it is worth. GM says it's not worth as much as her life, which makes her blush and even more frustrated and she demands to know if he thinks she could take it or not.
- He says it's fifty fifty, but won't sign off on it. Sam gets annoyed and insists on taking this fight anyway. She sneaks up on the bear and attacks it from behind. She deals damage, but it roars back so hard it hurts her ears before slashing, barely blocks with sword.
- GM tells her to roll, she avoids downward slash and scrambles to feet. GM asks what she's thinking and she tells him that she's showing some initiative, something he should try for once.
- GM argues that now is really not the time to be starting passive aggressive shit with him.
- Bear tries to wrestle the sword away but she kicks its face and slashes, chops off a hand. Sam gets arrogant and says look what happens when you want something and actually put in the effort to get it. Progress!
- GM calls her an idiot for pointing out this during a battle, says never take eyes off foe.
- Sam looks back once she hears the Bear making lurching sounds, only to have GM yell for her to run. Her feet get covered in throw-up slime that the bear has eaten, and it makes it hard to move.
- GM throws the slime cores as a distraction, runs over to her and tells her to get out of her boots. He helps pull her out amid bickering and calling her stupid, she responds in turn, and the bear looks back after having eaten the distraction.
- It launches a couple of gunk balls but Sam is able to get out of the way this time and she lands a big hit, but her sword is stuck and she has trouble pulling it out. In the confusion, the bear scratches her arm and causes it to bleed. She howls in pain but it makes her pride activate and she gets stronger, ripping the sword out and finishing it.
- Once the battle is over, Sam falls and holds her arm in pain. GM rushes to her and tears off his sleeve, bandaging the wound. They are still bickering. She tells him to shut up and tell her what she needs to harvest for the kill trophy, he's like you think that matters to me right now? You're hurt. She yells for him to tell her anyway, and he's like one of its fucking paws, or whatever.
- Things are tense after she bags it, and they agree to cool off and go back home for now. He wants her to rest at the Guild, and he'll be back with a healing potion for her. Sam is skeptical he's talking about from some backalley alchemist, and he tells her he'll be visiting that family friend he referenced... even though he really, really doesn't want to. She runs a clinic and she'll give him one, Sam grumbles about how she's fine but whatever.
- They start heading back, but emotions are still high.
Clinic and Argument
- GM stands in front of Opal's clinic, and we get a vague description of their relationship and how he's terrified of her in many ways. It's been a long time since he visited and he hadn't planned on doing so for a while if he could help it, since she took his decline badly and in his depression he made a wedge between them.
- That's why he's greatly relieved to see a sign on her door saying she'll be out for a few weeks on business. He gets out a key from a potted plant or w/e she hides it and goes in. Minor description, he goes into her lab and helps himself to a couple of potions while writing a note with something from her desk explaining it was him, and after hesitation, he writes he's sorry and that he'll see her soon.
- When he returns home, Sam is in her room sulking. He comes in and hands her a potion and it gets cleared right up after about half. She thanks him, and they're silent.
- When he finally asks what this is all about, she thinks he's treating her like a kid and she can tell he's trying to be more distant. They were getting along good- really, really good, and he keeps talking about how she should go to some other guild or something, and he's like because you would benefit from it.
- He tries to argue how she has tons of talent, and regardless of how he feels about her or how fun it is having Sam around, he's a washed up loser just barely getting by. You won't flourish under me, I don't have the facilities you need to reach your maximum potential. He believes he'll only drag her down like he's dragged everyone else down his entire life.
- Sam gets angry about how he keeps talking himself down, and she demands to know why he has such a low opinion of himself and he finally reveals it. He killed his grandpa and fucked up this entire town in the process.
- Sam is stunned, and after a bit he starts to speak. He takes off his glasses and looks at them nostalgically.
- He recounts a bit about the old man, and how when he was five they got in an argument and GM ran away into the Gnarled Woods to the south. It was a miracle nothing ate him, but he stumbled into an odd cave and found a pair of eyes that came to life and replaced his own- very painfully. Niall brought him back, but his condition was awful.
- For years they tried to fix him, his gpa calling in connections all across the Realm. He showed the true power of a Guild Master- calling in old favors, blackmail, etc- and after five years of pain they landed on a dwarven craftsman who made the glasses.
- GM didn't know about the lengths gpa went to until sneaking into his office one night and looking over his files, and it was then that he realized how much power a Guild Master truly has. It inspired him, made him want to be one, and he asked his gpa about it.
- He laughed him off at first but the more GM insisted, he more furious he got. They were shouting, he was crying, in his anger, he pushed his gpa and he tripped, hitting his skull on the desk. Hard.
- Sam is shocked but she's like... but... the town?
- He clarifies how he said the guild was special and that he had to take ownership or cede it to the AoA. Sam doesn't follow, but GM explains this is a town with a monster economy. Before gpa set up shop here, there were barely more than a thousand people. The guild caused a boom, and by the end of his life it reached nearly 30k people.
- GM asks Sam what she thinks happens when the focal point of an entire town's economy just stops producing. The town dies. People leave. The ones who remain turn to crime.
- Sam can't comprehend how all that is his fault, but can't argue with GM when he insists that it is.
- Things are quiet, and GM eventually says that this was all a mistake. He never should've taken her in because all it's led to is-
- Sam interrupts him and asks holy fuck are you fucking done yet. He asks with what, and she says feeling sorry for yourself.
- He gets angry, asks if she heard a single thing he said.
- Sam says yeah you had a hard life and it's shit, tragic how he tried for so long and how it didn't pan out, but that doesn't give him and excuse to stop trying for the rest of his fucking life. Says he could have all the money, power and women he wanted if he put half as much energy into getting his shit together as he did into feeling sorry for himself.
- GM is mad, says that he did try, and Sam is like yeah and then you stopped so get back on the fucking horse.
- GM clutches his fist. He knows she's right but he can't bring himself to admit any of it yet. Instead, he walks away and says he doesn't need to take this from her, and that she needs to go. Sam follows after saying she's not going anywhere and he can't make her.
- He goes to his office and starts counting out gold into a bag. Sam demands to know what he's doing, he's counting out her money and he thrusts the sack at her, tells her to pack her stuff and get going. This much will get her to any other Guild in Arrark or Rhoivan at least. Since Perlshaw isn't an option he recommends Roselake or Hollobell.
- Sam looks at him, a little disgusted. Asks if he's really this afraid of change. GM insists he isn't afraid of change he's... afraid of hurting worse than he already does. If he tries again and fails, then he isn't sure what he'll do, so he'd rather not even try at all. He thanks her for the last couple of days. They were fun, but it's time for her to go.
- Sam takes the money, is strangely calm about it, but then she gets mad and knocks him in the head with it. He's unconscious and she dumps the gold all over him, saying it'll take a lot more than that to make her give up on him, only for her to realize she just fucked him up and is like oh shit.
Regret
- GM awakens a few hours later to a cold sensation on his head and a really soft feeling beneath it. He stirs, and then realizes he's on Sam's thighs as she's holding an ice pack to his head.
- He's like Sam? and first things first she says she's still mad at him, but admits she took things a little too far and she's sorry for knocking him out but not sorry for anything else. GM says she needn't be sorry about anything and that she was in the right.
- He's the one who should be sorry, and he is.
- Things are awkward, Sam asks for clarification that he doesn't actually want her to go.
- GM says of course not, she's just right about him. He can't imagine taking a chance to better his life anymore, and the thought of doing so is scary to him to the point where he'd rather try and get rid of her than to face his problems head on.
- Sam is like geez self destructive much, and GM agrees.
- GM says even if Sam does stay, it's not like he's going to change overnight.
- Sam mentions that she has a friend like him. She lived in their 'family house' and wouldn't ever leave her room. One day, Sam discovered her and wouldn't stop annoying her until they were friends and the girl started leaving her room.
- Her friend didn't change overnight, nobody does, but he won't ever change unless he tries.
- GM draws the conclusion that Sam likes people who require fixing, and she says it's more like she can't abandon people in need. Sam says GM is kind of a shady, perverted asshole, but damn if there isn't something special underneath it all.
- GM says he wishes he could be the kind of person she thinks he is, and Sam tells him he's got the wrong mindset. Don't change to impress her, change for himself. Asks doesn't he want to be that wealthy, powerful harem lord he always dreamed of?
- GM is silent as something stirs inside him. Long lost ambitions rise, and he thinks of himself surrounded by women and money and he ends up getting a hard on. Sam is like dude are you fucking serious right now as she laughs, and throws a pillow on him to cover up.
- GM says he wasn't kidding about that libido comment the other day, says it goes off at the drop of a hat sometimes. Sam is amused that they're kind of having a moment and he totally just ruined it.
- GM tries to sit up but his head hurts and she's like woah there one step at a time.
- GM is like damn, the one time I want to get up and improve my life and I'm stuck laying on a pair of juicy thighs. She laughs him off.
- Things are awkward for a moment, GM tries to approach the topic of whatever weird thing is brewing between them but Sam blushes and says he should just enjoy the thighs and they can leave that kind of talk for when he doesn't have a concussion. Plus, right now he's liable to be thinking with his dick.
- GM concedes comically, but points out she could've given him the rest of the healing potion. Sam reminds him that she's still pissed and she felt bad enough to give him ice, but not bad enough to heal him up completely. GM agrees that's fair.
- GM is starting to feel tired again and Sam asks if he needs to nap. He says its bad to do so after a possible concussion, and she groans and gives him a sip of potion. He feels better, but is still tired.
- Emotions are high so Sam thinks that makes sense.
- GM tells her that he might be out of it for tonight so she can just eat whatever she finds in the cabinet, but tomorrow, he promises her he's going to show Sam he means to start taking steps forward with his life.
- Sam is happy to hear it and she starts playing with his hair idly, then reminds him that talk is just talk and he'll have to actually own up to it.
- GM says if he doesn't, she's free to rough him up again. Sam jokes he'd like that, and GM admits he likes aggressive women. Sam teases him back, but GM is like, and shy women, and clingy ones, and so on before saying he just happens to enjoy women as a whole.
- Sam does the usual calling him a pervert, but it's lighthearted, fluffy and warm.
- GM asks if Sam will let him lay with her for a while longer, she says she has no choice, her legs are pinned by his massive head.
- He thanks her, she says np boss, he says Gil.
- Sam is surprised to hear his name, but says she likes boss better. So does he.
Change
- The next day, GM awakens to his face in Sam's crotch and he's really embarrassed about it, pulling away rough enough to wake his companion. Sam realizes she fell asleep here after everything went down, tells him not to make a big deal about it.
- GM says he must have turned over in his sleep, Sam's like so you wound up with a face full of pussy and didn't do anything, huh? What a gentleman. So much for you learning how to take some initiative. She doesn't say this desperately, more jokey.
- GM shrugs that much to Sam's dismay he's not the type to assault someone in their sleep, bringing up a historical example/parody of Sleeping Beauty where a knight awoke an old Lundreame Princess with a kiss only for the king to have him gelded for defiling his daughter.
- Sam awkwardly plays it off saying she doesn't know junk about Princesses or whatever, but teases him and asks if she's not worth being gelded over.
- The two start to laugh, and we get the feeling that they're way closer now for having fought.
- Both of them realize they're exceedingly hungry since they slept through the night without dinner, so GM makes breakfast and then announces he has some errands to do alone today and that Sam should work in the yard on her form, practice strikes, do some push ups, whatever she wants.
- Sam asks if these errands have anything to do with his resolution to change things about himself, to which he says she'll have to see when he returns. Sam comments on how there's a fire in his eyes that wasn't there before, and she can see it even despite his glasses. It's a subtle moment that makes him feel good. She gets her sword and goes off to train, leaving him alone.
- Now alone, GM gets out a couple of crates and a small handwagon for moving things, and he spends over an hour sorting all of gpa's expensive booze collection into different boxes before loading it all up. We get detailed description of some of them and how sad GM is to part with them, but he fights down his temptation to open some of the bottles and have a sip before loading them up.
- GM is resolute. To even have a chance of getting the Guild up and running, he needs capital, and to get capital he needs to make some investments that go beyond getting the girl a bunch of clothes to wear. He goes to his office and picks up every coin from the bag and even empties his vault into his magic wallet. He considers packing up all his erotic books, but they wouldn't resell for much and it'd just take him even longer to get going.
- With the wagon loaded up, GM puts a blanket over it and rolls it into town. On his way to the market he comes across Niall, who tags along. Says he's walking around with a target on his back with all that booze, offers to come and protect him. GM doesn't turn him down.
- Niall, observant as always, asks him what's going on here after peeking under the blanket. He makes an exaggerated reaction of GM getting rid of the 'good stuff' and he remembers knocking back some of these with the old man.
- Niall asks if cash is getting low now that he has another mouth to feed, but GM tells him no, he's doing this to improve the Guild. He tells Niall that he's ready to start trying again and Sam needs armor and other supplies if she's going to make it.
- Niall is like well I'll be. Good pussy really does wonders for a man and he clasps GM's back. GM states it's not like that, and Niall is confused. Says that giving up drinking usually happens AFTER the girl has you by the balls, not before.
- GM says she doesn't know he's doing this and that they had a big fight after he told her everything. Niall- everything, everything? Yes, about gpa and the town.
- He's like shit, how'd she take it?
- GM- She hit me with a sack of gold and told me to stop making excuses for myself.
- Niall whistles, she really is a keeper.
- GM- I told her to leave, get to a guild that could take better care of her.
- Niall- and you don't want that?
- GM says he was trying to take the easy way out. Instead of turning the Guild into a place where Sam and other adventurers could thrive, he tried to kick her out and he's ashamed of that. GM doesn't know if he's really on the right path or if this will end in failure, but at least for now, he's wants to start improving himself.
- Niall is touched to see GM like this and he asks GM where he's planning to sell all this shit. GM names a liquor store and Niall waves it off, saying they won't give him what it's worth. He leads GM to a shady backstreet and into a pub where Niall talks business with a shady Dwarf. Bunch of real expensive booze, asks if the Dwarf's friends in Dawnstead would be interested in a big payloud.
- GM infers this is an interrealm smuggling thing and is impressed with his connections as ever. He doesn't care much about harmless crimes like this, so long as it doesn't get traced to him. Niall is one step ahead of him, phrasing everything as being 'his' while the GM is just a friend who helped load the wagon.
- The dwarf looks it all over and makes a generous offer on account of it being Niall. Niall barters a bit and gets it to go a little higher before accepting.
- After they leave, GM and is very grateful for the help, and Niall says its the least he can do, even if the gutter will be all the more lonely without GM there to keep him company.
- GM supposes he shouldn't bother reminding Niall of the offer to come back to work, Niall tells him he assumes correctly. He asks what all he's going to be getting his girlfriend, and GM says everything she'll need to succeed.
- Niall tells GM to give him a list and the gold and he'll see what he can do. GM knows Niall is good for it, but says he wants to get everything today. Niall sighs and says he's got no choice but to tag along, then, and he'll see if he can't help GM find some 'choice deals.'
- GM is a little overwhelmed by how helpful Niall is being, but Niall tells him that he shouldn't be so afraid of asking for help. There's nothing to be ashamed of, and GM is humbled. Niall informs him they're grabbing a drink when they're done though, and GM is paying. GM laughs and says that depends on how choice those deals end up being, and the two get going.
- We get a scene describing GM and Niall visiting all sorts of back alley pawn shops, people's basements and other suspicious places. Everywhere they stop they pick up a few things until the wagon is starting to grow heavy.
- Their last stop is the market and Niall looks over the thing and is like, you sure? I can find something cheaper that's just as good somewhere for her. GM is like she really wanted this one.
- Niall then not to spoil the girl too much, but admits it might be too late since her highness has probably never wanted for a single thing in her life.
- GM freezes, Niall clarifies he's not threatening him or anything. Just wants GM to make sure he knows what he's getting into. He asks to confirm GM likes the girl, yes, asks if GM is going to make a move on her at some point, also yes.
- GM couldn't care less about the consequences. He's been scared of failure for too long, and he wants what he wants and isn't going to let anything stand in his way anymore.
- Niall is proud of him and says that he'll be there for GM when the crown locks him up in the dungeon. He does offer the advice to maybe wait on it though, since dumping all these presents on her might seem like a power move and you don't wanna base a relationship on foundations like that.
- GM thanks Niall again, and Niall proposes they go get that drink.
Present
- Just because he sold all his fancy booze doesn't mean he's giving up drinking. One drink turned into three, and he had dinner while he was out. He returns home with takeout for Sam, and Niall says goodbye after dropping GM off at the road to the Guild.
- GM walks in, obviously drunk, carrying a full wagon. Sam is in the hall, and she's in casual clothes. She is playing darts alone. She wasn't training all day and after a point she started exploring the other wings of the Guild looking to entertain herself. She found the lounge in the west wing and although it was too dirty to actually hang out there, she brought the dartboard out at least.
- When she sees him drunk as fuck, she assumes the worst and throws a dart so hard that it pierces the board and goes into the wall. She storms up to him like are you serious? what was all that shit about changing your life?
- GM gets her to quiet down and explains he was out with Niall, and he brought dinner for her. Sam looks at the wagon and asks if he's trying to make her fat, and he laughs saying he has a bunch of presents for her, too. Sam gives him the floor skeptically, but crosses her arms. He says he helped out a lot today and that all he wanted in return was a few drinks in return.
- GM pulls the wagon behind the front counter so Sam can't see all the stuff he's going to show off, and then he starts making a show of it.
- GM presents her with a series of important tools. Magical canteens that hold more than they appear. A couple of bags of holding for storing loot. A second-hand monster stripper knife for collecting trophies. An enchanted pouch that is damage resistant and will prevent potion bottles and food from breaking even if she falls right on top of it. (Other recommendations are welcome) He has multiples of each of these items, Sam is stunned, but he's not done and he takes out a big box and walks over to hand it to her directly.
- Sam opens it up and she is shocked to find the armor they checked out a while ago. Sam is happy but asks where he managed to get all of this, and GM reveals he sold all of his inherited expensive booze. You wanted me to show some initiative, so I made an even bigger investment in your future at this Guild.
- She puts the box down for a moment and then hugs him hard enough for his back to crack loud and painfully, praising the alcoholic and thanking him nonstop. Although in pain, GM has enough liquid confidence in him to joke just a hug? he thought the armor was worth a kiss at least
- Sam jokes back ask her again when he's not drunk, and he has an internal struggle to move in and get close enough to kiss, says maybe I will. Sam blushes and takes a step back, gets a bit haughty/prideful over his courage and GM finds her really cute, but she steps away and ducks out to another room to go and change.
- She then calls out to him for help, just as he suspected she would. Sam has already changed into the undersuit and greaves/sleeves, and he helps her suit up as he roleplays as a humble squire. Sam notices he's touching her a good deal, and in his defense he's drunk. She says ah yes that excuses all the groping no prob.
- Breastplate gag, it's a little tight. Sam's like don't say it. He loosens it and it's good enough, though they might need to get it better fitted at a later date.
- Now fully decked out Sam shows it off and we get a detailed overview of it, and GM is floored. She asks how she looks, and GM tells her like a hero. This affects her deeply and she thank him. Hints of her past, just a few months ago she wasn't even allowed to hold a sword and now she has her own set of armor. Everything she's wanted is coming true bit by bit, and GM says the same could be said for him, even if it took him a while to see it.
- Sam uses this chance to reinforce that they're good for each other. GM asks in what way. Sam says lots, is a bit shy about it.
- GM ruins the moment teasingly as he asks if she needs help stripping, and she's like gods you are horrible tonight, but accepts his help.
- After she's fully undressed down to the undershirt, GM seemingly pins her to the wall and whisper's Sam's name into her eat. She freaks out, what do you think you're doing?! Only for it to be a fake out as he asks her to help carry him to his bed, he's so fucking drunk.
- Sam is furious at him for making her emotions so conflicted/getting her hopes up, but she does so and dumps his ass on the bed rather unceremoniously. He tells her not to stay up too late as they're gonna go out and make the most of the armor tomorrow, Sam is like yeah yeah I'm gonna make sure you're up nice and early.
- GM falls asleep peacefully not because he's drunk, but because he feels like he got things done and has a purpose again after so long.
- She goes and eats her dinner, then as she lays down for bed, we get her unable to sleep. her heart is beating too fast, she can't stop thinking about him. Thighs rubbing together, groaning in frustration. We don't get a full masturbation scene, but we get some light touching and then a fade to black as she reaches into her panties and mutters 'damn it, boss...'
Big Day
- GM wakes up with a surprisingly clear head, and he knocks on Sam's door after getting himself ready. She's flustered when she answers and he says to get ready for the day and shower if she wants, he'll get breakfast going. Sam ends up taking a while longer than he expected and he goes to check on her, asks if she's coming.
- Sam's like funny you should say that, give me just a minute. GM raises an eyebrow.
- Not long after Sam comes down and GM can tell she's looking a bit wary today. On edge. His eyes pick up on some sexual cues as well that confirms his suspicions. GM asks if she's doing alright and she mentions not having slept well. GM is concerned, wanted to take her on a bigger quest to really test out the armor and see how her training is coming along.
- Sam insists it's fine, then scarfs down breakfast angrily. She wants to know what GM has in mind.
- I believe in the original rewritten chapters GM's goal was to draw out Piglets, but I'm going to take the same premise and the same events but swap it out for a normal Pigman. There will still be Piglets or w/e I called them, but yeah. We'll get a little info on Pigmen here as he explains the Gnarled Woods, and we'll get some references to Cransmere and how the woods aren't quite as bad as they are out east but they're still bad.
- Sam perks up at the idea of fighting something strong for once, and GM is happy to accommodate. Sam, flustered, fixates on the 'date' part of that word and tells him not to get ahead of himself and he's like ?
- Sam forces herself past it but is still grumpy. GM is unsure what to do and he realizes some of his memory is fuzzy, he ends up asking if he did something last night when drunk that put her on edge today and she's like yes, no, I don't know!
- Now that he knows where this is coming form, he feels a bit daring, GM reaches down and pats her thigh and asks if she'd like to maybe talk about 'things' tonight.
- Sam asks what he thinks he's doing touching her there, GM teases that he doesn't see a problem given that it was his pillow the other day. She swats him away but then admits that yeah maybe they should talk about 'things' or whatever.
- GM thinks its adorable how Sam is all flirty but when pressure is actually placed back on her she gets all huffy. It makes him want to push more buttons, but she's distracted enough as it is. They get Sam suited up and decked out with her new gear, and they go out.
- From here, I will rewrite the Pig fight that ends up leading to Sam's big boss battle against the Forest Troll. It will remain nearly identical, but instead of Sam doubting herself at first GM uses it as a moment to show how much he trusts in Sam's development. Sam respects his decision and she assumes they're going to back out but he's like no, I believe in you. Put everything you've learned together and show me what you've got.
- The fight is the same. When it's over, GM congratulates her and her mood is super hyped up. She ends up hugging him as they celebrate and it knocks him to the ground. His hand is pushing up against her breastplate and he notes that armor makes this trope a whole lot less fun. Sam reacts flighty, backs off, but to her surprise, he actually follows after her and pins her again.
- He's in the moment, and doesn't realize that acting on his impulses here of all places is a probably a bad idea. He draws closer and closer as Sam gets increasingly excited and nervous, asking where did all these balls of his come from. He jokes about how watching badass women at work apparently does it for him. They're silent for a moment and he's like, so, about that talk we need to have...
- Only for a Pigman to show up and ruin the moment. Sam wastes no time and throws GM over her shoulder as they run away, humiliating him right after he went and acted so manly.
It Happens
- The walk home was awkward. Sam was cagey and GM couldn't get much out of her, although she was pouty in an excessively adorable way.
- GM comments how the sexual tension between them was reaching critical levels and anything was liable to happen when they were like this, so it would be good to finally clear things up and maybe get her thoughts on how they proceed from here.
- She gets changed, they have leftover mushroom steak and other random crap, and after dinner, Sam apologizes for how she's been acting. She's never felt like this before and it's making her confused. She tells him to wipe that smile off his face, but he says no I think I'll keep it.
- He asks if she'd like to have this conversation upstairs and she is stunned for a moment at that and asks if he means his bedroom, and GM asks if that's not an appropriate place for it. She takes a deep breath and nods, undoes her twintails and walks toward the stairs without him, then calls for him to hurry up.
- He puts away the dishes and we see how nervous he is about this when he's alone, but he fights back against it and is ready for whatever comes next.
- He enters his bedroom and Sam is sitting on the edge. She's stiff, her eyes are flighty and she's sweating a bit.
- He sits down beside her and asks what's on her mind. She's surprisingly honest and says it's pissing her off that it's taking him so long to make a move on her. It's obvious she's struggling with this and she's like its your fault for not manning up and sealing the deal.
- GM says it's a bit more complicated than that. He's more comfortable with the idea now, but there's the age, the employee relationship, and potential problems with her family to consider.
- Sam doesn't confirm anything but she's extremely defiant on that topic- saying her family shouldn't factor whatsoever in this matter. They have nothing to do with it, and she plans on never seeing them again if she can help it.
- GM apologizes, and Sam accepts it and lowers her head. Jokes that he missed his chance- bringing up her family made her lose all interest in continuing this talk today. GM shrugs and teases that she'll just have to make do with his shower again.
- Sam freaks out and asks if he peaked, but GM takes off his glasses and reminds her he can see all of her body language tics. She's not subtle when she's horny, and she punches him in the arm, embarrassed.
- Without letting anything slip, GM says they do need to talk more about her past sometime soon. Sam sulks but agrees, wants tonight to be about 'us.'
- GM takes her hand. Sam says she will allow this.
- GM asks what she thinks of the other things bothering him, and Sam says she doesn't give a shit about his age- especially since he spent five years as a shut-in and hasn't progressed mentally at all. He's basically 21 if you think about it. GM is like fucking ouch.
- As for the employer dynamic, she doesn't mind either. In fact, it's kinda hot, Boss.
- GM asks her to look at it from his point of view. It's his job to send her off on dangerous missions, each of which has a chance of taking her away from him forever. That's the real reason GMs are forbidden to date their adventurers, besides favoritism and giving them all the best quests of course.
- This part shakes Sam a bit, and she sees his point... but...
- But?
- It's not like they can just turn off their feelings for each other just because of that fact. If anything, it means he should work even harder to become the best damn Guild Master ever to make sure nothing bad ever happens to his adventurers.
- GM is won over by her stubbornness and her attempt at motivating him, and Sam presses forward asking if there's any other concerns he has stopping them from getting on with their... whatever it is they have.
- GM does have one, but he doesn't want to say it because he's afraid it will ruin the mood and make him look bad.
- Sam guesses this has something to do with his villainous sounding dream of drowning in power, wealth, and women. GM jokingly chooses to remain silent, but when pressed he says Sam inspired him to chase his dreams again and his dream explicitly revolves around multiple women serving his needs on a daily basis.
- Sam performs the knockout move by leaning in and whispering into his ear, asking, what's stopping you from bringing more girls into this bed, boss? it certainly isn't me. Powerful, wealthy men deserve as many women as they can provide for.
- GM remembers how her upbringing and social circle probably had her exposed to lots of noblemen with harems, and Sam goes on to clarify he's not the only one who wants to fuck women around here.
- GM flips Sam over and pins her on the bed, staring into her eyes. She's a mix of nervous and excited, and she goads him into doing more by telling him to go on, chase your dreams, boss. Lucky number one is right around the corner.
Sex
- And then they fuck.
- Joking aside, I'll take the original scene and re-adapt it but I assume the tone is going to be very different. There is so much more sexual tension, their emotions are high, and GM is really proactive.
- Other changes include him having increased stamina from the start as after the first time cumming he barely takes any time at all to reharden and he tells her that he warned her. Sam thinks he probably will need more than one girl to help deal with this, and he teases that she'll just have to do her best which she takes as a challenge.
- We also establish Sam's daddy kink here, as she ends up asking for a weird request and he teases the fuck out of her for it, how it makes sense for a spoiled brat like her to have a dd/lg fetish. She's defensive.
- Sam tells him she's been on Succu-Bye since her first flowering so don't worry about protection, but asks him to be careful at first. She's like you're not the only one with a high libido and she broke it on accident, but she's never... you know.
- GM teases she took his prize from him, and she's like oh so women are prizes, huh? GM jokes that she may as well be.
- After penetration, we get our biggest change and his eyes flash pink and Sam is like what the fuck. It doesn't stop them, though.
- GM is mentally overwhelmed. It feels like he was made for this, like life wasn't complete until bottoming out in Sam. No wonder he had such trouble getting off on erotica these days. His body was crying out for him to finally do it.
- I'll probably add another round at the end since there was a long, long wait for this sex scene.
- The twist happens as they're cuddled together after it's all done and she can't believe he's still hard. He asks if she's done, cause he could use some more. She asks for a quick break, and they relax together...
- Only for GM's eyes to glow brighter and summon a screen congratulating him for unlocking IntiMate at long last. It registers Samantha Lundreame as his first lover and alerts him he has one unspent Desire Point.
- Sam looks at him in utter confusion after shouting, it freaked her out, and he's just as shocked.
- Screen says to close screen say close screen, and to open it up again say open IntiMate.
- They're silent until Sam complains how this just ruined their night, and that they probably need to have a talk about some things.
- GM agrees, and says he’s ready
Epilogue
- GM brings tea into his office where Sam is sitting on the couch. He places it on the coffee table. He's wearing shorts, she's just thrown on panties and one of his shirts. She thanks him and he sits next to her.
- They're focused on an awkward dilemma and they mull over on what to discuss first. The magic eyes, or Sam's background.
- Sam decides to be honest and just up and say she's the crown princess, and GM reveals he already knows. Sam isn't surprised, but she thanks him for not pressuring her about it. GM says that it's not his place, she's his adventurer before anything else and her history doesn't matter.
- She's like so you knew and still wanted to hook up with me? He reiterates that he's done worrying about consequences if he can help it. He wanted Sam, so he acted on it. Sam is smily at the fact, thanks him for not treating her special. He jokes that it's no big deal, he fucks all the help. No special treatment whatsoever. She ribs him back.
- Silent, then she sighs and asks him if he wants to know why she ran away. Not if she doesn't want to tell him. GM seems to have a good feeling about what happened more or less anyway, and Sam's like what is that supposed to mean?
- He explains how runaway nobles is a common enough occurence and they're all cut from the same cloth- no offense. Someone didn't love her enough- a certain father figure if he had to guess- or they insisted on forcing her to do things she didn't want to do. GM jokes bonus points if there is an arranged marriage involved.
- Sam is embarrassed by how obvious all this is, and GM asks what Prince Charming was like. 60, twice widowed. GM- Yikes. GM quips how he thought she liked older men, and she punches him saying there's a limit. Sam says if that's not enough he was her literal uncle- the first son of Duke Glorigold. GM is like incest? How... unfortunate while patently ignoring a small subsection of his erotica collection.
- Sam explains how they gave her this heads up a few months before her coming of age, and she ran away that night with the help of her friend. GM asks where she got the armor and sword, Sam says she got it from her father's armory, but now she admits it was probably not that given all the other slutty costumes.
- GM quips about how the stories regarding the Young Lion's lust are not exaggerated then, and Sam shivers like you have no idea... the shit she saw growing up, man. GM silently worries about the source of her daddy issues and decides to leave well enough alone there.
- Now that this is all out in the air, Sam wants to know that this isn't going to change anything, right? GM confirms and comforts her, says no matter what happens this is her home from now on and no one will take that away from her.
- Sam is a little emotional but hides it and calls him a bastard etc, while he smiles.
- GM segues the topic and says what does change things is this, and opens up IntiMate. We get a base screen with Sam's picture positioned under 'Lovers', an icon showing his desire points, and a button for opening skill tree.
- Sam is like yeah, so, what the fuck is up with this? GM has no damn clue and she's like really? This seems like something he should've been aware of. He points out that she was there when it said he unlocked IntiMate and it'd be hard for him to know about something he hadn't unlocked yet.
- Sam concedes and asks what his thoughts are. He surmises it to be some sort of magical skill inherent to his eyes that is related to him having sex. It said Sam was registered as the first lover and then rewarded him something called a desire point, as if it's expecting him to have more than one and even incentivizing it.
- Sam is a little offended because it feels like she just jumped into some sort of huge commitment before knowing what she was getting into. GM jokes if this was just some hookup to her, but she's like not what I meant and you know it. Whatever this is, it's big, and she's a part of it just for having slept with him.
- GM apologizes, feels bad about this, but Sam believes that he really doesn't know shit about IntiMate and that it's ok. She looks at the screen and is like, do you wanna mess around with it a little? He's not sure how, but Sam has seen magical screens like this before and says try pressing his finger somewhere.
- He clicks on Sam's face and it brings up a submenu showing her current equipment, a list of milestones and a button to bring up skills. The only milestone is there first time having sex, Sam is like if we meet more of these do you think we'll get more points and GM is unsure but it's likely. They click the skills only to see four buttons unnaccessable, each only saying ???.
- Whatever these are, they can't be unlocked atm. Sam's like what about the skill button on the main screen? So they open it and see GM has three clickable buttons. Taskmaster, Establish Domain, and Sexual Adaptation. They examine all three of them and are a little floored by the vague but helpful sounding descriptions.
- GM doesn't want to get ahead of himself but he's like do you know what this means, Sam? She's like we need to speed up the whole bringing more bitches into their bed, for one. GM quips 'their' bed? Sam sasses him saying yes, their bed, as she's gonna be moving into his room. He's just joking, but he says if this IntiMate thing is as good as it sounds like it is, then it changes everything.
- GM has another villain moment where he goes off on how he could build an entire harem guild and support them through an ever-developing web of powers, and Sam has to bring him down from the hype. She's like we really got to work on your whole villainous mastermind thing going on, even though she's kinda into it.
- She stresses caution, which GM finds odd coming from her. She's saying we don't know anything about this, and she thinks that they should have his eyes checked out or consult with a Mage on this power before buying any skills. See if they've someone has ever heard of IntiMate before. GM concedes she's right, but the only Mage who he thinks would be able to help is out of town and will be for a while.
- Sam says she might know someone, and she can write a letter tomorrow. GM asks if that would lead them to her, but Sam explains they set up a system before she left for her to safely contact Zuzu without just writing her directly.
- GM says by all mean, and Sam gets that he's still overexcited about this. GM admits its hard not to be, given that he was just given substantial justification for whoring around with as many women as possible in the name of furthering his ambition. Sam does admit that it all seems too good to be true, but asks if he's really just gonna screw every whore off the street.
- GM says no, it needs to be with others like Sam or else it won't mean anything. Sam is glad to hear that, was worried he'd get too big of an ego for a minute there. GM teases and asks for more details about this friend of hers- if she's cute and if she's single.
- Sam laughs and says some cryptic junk about how it'd never happen with Zuzu, and to put it back in his pants.
- There's a moment of warmth between them and GM both of her hands in his, telling her that no matter what happens from now on, they face it together.
- She says you're damn straight, Boss, and we end on a kiss.
