Suzette Lillis

• A 34-year-old human woman living in Cransmere.
• Suzette is a widow. Her husband, Gregory, was an abusive alcoholic.
• In her youth, Suzette was somewhat of a wallflower and had low self-esteem. Her parents rushed her into marriage with the son of a family friend.
• Although he was an asshole, she caved to pressure and they married when she was 20.
• Suzette inherited her family’s store, Darkwood General Store, while her husband brought in money through lumberjack work. Neither liked each other even early on, but it was cordial enough between them.
• Two years into their marriage, Gregory had an accident out in the woods. A monster tore off half of his face and ate his genitals along with a chunk of his thigh.
• Their marriage, which was already strained, became a nightmare as he gave up on life to drink and steal money from Suzette’s store.
• The years changed her as she suffered, her weakness and timidity were quite literally beaten out of her until only resentment and anger remained.
• When Suzette was 28, her husband had an ‘accident’ and died. According to her, Gregory got drunk and left into the woods to go and find the monster that ruined his life. There were witnesses who saw him do so, so Suzette’s story wasn’t questioned in much more detail than that. Some people believe she had a hand in it, but nothing could ever be proven.
• Since his passing, Suzette fully emerged from her shell and took on a new persona. She became confident, changing her life in many ways. She started doing her hair more often, wearing nicer clothes and jewelry, putting on makeup, and acting more outgoing.
• Suzette became the talk of the town for a while, the mysterious and beautiful (potentially killer) widow turning many a man’s head around Cransmere. While she enjoys the attention, she’s open about not being interested and admittedly plays it up to keep customers coming back.
• Darkwood General Store has evolved along with her, too. Without Gregory stealing her profits she was able to turn the place into a thriving business thanks in no small part to her newfound popularity as well as her burgeoning confidence. Now it’s one of the nicest stores in town.
• Over the last few years, Suzette has grown restless. While she closed her heart off to letting new people in on account of her failed marriage, her enjoyment of the single life is drying up and she’s lonely.
• Although her confidence is higher, she’s still fairly naive when it comes to the opposite sex and she has very high standards for obvious reasons. Like many of Cransmere’s women, her eyes were drawn to Coye.
• She sees the boy as a sweet and innocent little thing who couldn’t hurt a fly and always tries to catch his attention whenever he’s around.
• The widow isn’t entirely sure what she’s looking for, whether it’s love or a fling, but she knows she wants something and that she has to go for it to find out what it is.
