desolate leng

You've heard by now, but yeah, only the very end of 101, where Ace gives Luffy the paper, is canon/part of the real story, the rest of it is filler. The farewell is kind of important, though! Ojisan means "uncle", both in a general way, like a respectful way to address men who are a bit older, and for real relatives. Luffy often uses a less polite version of it, "ossan". It also mean uncle, but less politely, lol. I don't quite know how it's best translated, but these subs usually writes it out as "old guy". Often when you get the names of cities and titles, the subs will put it at the top of the screen instead of at the bottom, keep an eye out! Crocodile is so much like a Bond villain, I love it so much. Did you notice that Luffy actually calls Vivi "nakama" when he tells her to put his and the crew's lives on the line along with her own? Overall I just love this character moment so much, both for Luffy and Vivi. You see that Luffy understands the world better in some ways than Vivi does. I kind of get chills when Luffy simply says "people die". But I also think that Vivi breaks down in part because she's been carrying so much on her own for so long, and suddenly she has someone tell her "we're in this together. You're one of us".

Yes, we did notice! And you nailed it! We totally get the bond vibes!☺️☺️ It’s so powerful, when she tells her you’re one of us!🥹🥹❤️❤️

As a long time fan it's hard to even express how much I love Vivi's character. The gravitas of her character only grows as you go further along in the journey. She's really a princess for the ages. These characters are all essential in what they represent, to what is happening in the story of One Piece today that it makes them that much more beautiful to watch. The tenacity within the context given, of Vivi, Toto-ojisan (this guy, I just love this old man for what he represents), and even Scorpion in the filler episode is so important. It was campy, but that filler was like a microcosm of the story of One Piece. It's almost startling to see a kid in a filler episode wish to be able to eat till he's full, and like be afraid to be wishing for that. Like no, f that, we need to create a world where children CAN eat till they're full, always. So that their dreams aren't consumed away by hunger.

So so true Schlotzovich! It’s part of what makes One Piece so very special! 🥰🥰
