It's never stated in the series but Oda was asked how old Chopper is and answered as a human he would be 15 years old. He's so darn cute and I want to give him all the hugs! Oda is a master of making fans cry, it's only a matter of time before you find the one moment that just resonates with you.

Chopper's backstory is crazy. It's ridiculously sad and the music choices are perfect. I love it. If they can nail Hiriluk's death speech in the live action, it will be amazing. This is like the first real taste at just how deep Oda's writing can get. I feel like after watching the Live Action, no one would expect the story to hit notes like what it did in these episodes. The commentary on medicine and the country was so epic to me. Chopper being a Reindeer who ate a Human-Human Fruit was such a crazy concept to me when I first watched One Piece. The idea of it blew me away. Like how does someone come up with that? lol Thanks for the reactions 💪

Every character has a birthday. Usually, it is suggested by fans and Oda legit or approves it in his SMS (some Q&A sessions at the end of the chapters in his manga volume). The fans (Japanese fans basically) usually suggested those birthdays with the number that sounded like or had a meaning related to the characters. For example, Luffy's birthday is May 5, one of the reasons is that 5 is pronounced as "Go", and Luffy's devil fruit is Rubber Rubber fruit which is pronounced as "Gomu Gomu no mi", so Go Go is 5-5 here the fans suggested May-5 as Luffy's birthday. Similar to Nami's 3-Jul (7 is Nana, 3 is Mi, 73 sounds like Nami). Sanji's is 2-Mar, San is 3 and Ni is 2, so 32 sounds like Sanji, etc.; [Right, 3 can be pronounced as "Mi" and "San" as well] Usopp and Chopper's birthdays are another sort. They are meaning type of birthday. Usopp's birthday is 1-Apr which is April Fools' day. And Chopper is? Guess? Chopper's birthday is Christmas Eve, 24-Dec, I think it is because he is a reindeer and the date is kinda of related to him :P (His birthday is the same as my daughter haha I never predicted) Zoro's birthday is Nov-11 but I forgot how the fans derived it. I need to check the old SMS.

I never used to cry to anime but the writing for some of these cartoons eventually wore me down 😅 This one didn’t bring Jason to tears but we gonna get him right with one of the shows, inevitably one of these moments is gonna hit you like a truck!

Chopper’s backstory is deep and with elements we all can relate to. All the while I kept thinking how proud Hiriluk would have been if he knew Chopper will indeed travel the whole world with friends that love him dearly, while living free like only a pirate can, learn new medicine and use this knowledge to save lives in every country he visits. The doctor of the future Pirate King, and all thanks to Hiriluk’s inspiring life and open heart.

These are still some of my favourite moments in the whole series. And a really good arc on the whole! Not everyone cries, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they weren't moved by this arc. Ave Maria here really was an excellent choice, and though Oda definitely should get the majority of the praise for the story, the anime directors make some great additions with music and direction, I think! You are probably already hearing it, but this is another instance where the word "nakama" comes up a lot (basically every time someone says "friend"). I don't think "friend" is the best translation here, because what Luffy is essentially offering is somewhere for Chopper to belong (or a more literal translation would be "become one of us"). I think "crew" would be a good translation too. And Luffy puts so much meaning into that word. So what Doctor Kureha is drinking is Umeshu, I think, which is a sort of a plum liqueur (though not strong, more comparable to wine when it comes to alcohol content). It's said that women tend to be especially fond of the taste, but I haven't heard it's supposed to preserve youth, lol. A small note on Chopper's last name, Tony Tony: reindeer in Japanese is "tonakai", and it's derived from the beginning of the word. Doubling it up might be to make it cuter (as if that was needed, lol).

Just remember if it’s an Oda backstory get the tissues usually lol He’s a mastermind of character development and backstory. Can’t wait for you guys to see more in general. And expect further arcs from Chopper’s to have the kind of depth this one does. Oda really just continues to ramp up the world and its depth to make this world feel really real to the readers and watchers. And it can be overwhelming sometimes, but just enjoy the ride. 😊
