GUYS - what a finale episode that I was NOT expecting. I adored how this last episode was shot, each character that we didn't end up getting a season from having their own little moment. it felt so special to me! of course I cried - would it be a reaction from me if I didn't? let's be so real. I'm so curious to hear what your favorite season was and who your favorite characters were! I'll go first!

I want to start by saying I loved ALL of the seasons and really ended up loving all of the characters by the end of it but surprisingly, I think my favorite season was season 2 (I'm not sure if anyone is actually surprised by that). Noora has been my favorite from the very beginning and I continued to love her throughout the show. While I also love Isak, I think Even might be my second favorite? I would have loved to get a season around him. Sana, Isak, Jonas, and even William are also up there as favorites! 🩶

wanted to let u know that the reaction seems to have been un-synced when it goes to the jonas part! ): i managed to sync it up with my own copy of the episode so i could watch the rest though but it'll probably be a problem for others.

It's been seven years, and the bit with Vilde and Chris at the party still makes me tear up. So good.

I have seen all the skam versions and I liked most of them. France's version is my least favorite, because it's a very literal adaptation with little changes. My favorites stayed true to the seasons while switching up details. Though could still feel repetitive. Anyways, a lot of the other versions are worth it, in my opinion. Some of them were canceled before doing all 4 original seasons, and some have new seasons, but my other faves are: Druck (Germany, 4 Seasons+) WTFOCK (Belgium, 4 seasons +) skam españa (4 seasons) skam italia (5 seasons) Skam Netherlands (2 seasons) Skam Austin (2 seasons) Austin was cool because it was nice to experience one skam version in English without subs, but it might have felt a bit more cringey seeing Americans acting it out. I do wonder if Norwegians felt that way about the og skam sometimes too though.... Anyway, I have all the episodes of the main 4 seasons for every country with english subtitles, so if you ever struggle to find an episode, I can add them to my google drive to share what I have.

I fixed it I think! I'm not sure why that happened lol it wasn't like that in editing so that's so weird! but thank you for telling me! 🩶

this is so interesting! I've been seeing everyone either say that the France one is their favorite or that it's their least favorite. very interesting! I was going to say- are the remakes literally the same stories every time?

France is very aesthetically pleasing and has really attractive people, but it felt like a shot-for-shot remake until they got to season 3, where they finally made some good changes. That season is probably the reason people say it's a favorite and not that version overall, but I could be wrong. It's the only skam France season I enjoyed, but the season 3s from all the countries were more popular because of the size of the Isak and Even fan base. Germany and Spain made the most significant changes but didn't stray too far from the main stories. Noora was always my fave, so my list is biased that way.

One thing I think gets lost in translation on the subbed final episode, that final scene with Jonas' speech. You change from the character's perspective to the viewer's perspective. The messages shown on screen aren't translated so you don't get the context (and those in English pass by quickly), but those are comments from viewers. On the characters' social media posts or on the original 'scene' posts on NRK when the episodes originally dropped. It shows how much of a community this show had when it originally aired, how majorly it impacted some people, and how much Julie loved the community back. Something I'm not sure has been matched since.

I honestly enjoyed all the remakes. They are basically the same story with varying degrees of changes. For me personally, the different settings, portrayals and overall vibes still made even the most literal remakes seem fresh in some ways. Changes I loved and didn’t love so much in every remake. My personal favorite is DRUCK. My other favorites are Netherlands (a crime there were only 2 seasons), Espana and France.

I've heard that since Skam France was one of the first remakes (if not the first?) they weren't allowed to change the story much at all, which is why the first two seasons are so similar. They were given way more freedom to change things up from season three onward though. I actually haven't even seen any of the other remakes yet, and I also stopped watching Skam France after season 5 (or 6 maybe), but I've been meaning to get to the other remakes for a long time now. I do agree that the first two seasons are more or less just a copy of the original and don't really bring anything new, but I absolutely loved season three. I honestly wouldn't mind if Ryann only reacted to season three since she already knows the story and wouldn't really need to see the first two, but I'm fine either way. I'm just excited to see what ends up winning on the polls!

This finale really is one of a kind! The way they were able to tie up all the loose ends to everyone's stories is just incredible. And I also love how they had Jonas give the speech at the end referencing how the show first started in season one when he was showing his school project to Eva. It's just such a great full circle moment to end the show on 💛

Isak saying what we're all thinking about Sana being beautiful! She always looks gorgeous, but WOW! She just looked absolutely stunning this episode! It's such a small thing that just always makes me smile, but when Vilde tells Chris that she does have someone to talk to and looks over at Magnus, it just makes me think back to the moment in Jonas' part where she's stressing over what to get Sana and Magnus tells her to get her a card. And it's because he knows she can't afford a big gift and that it's clearly stressing her out and it just makes me smile every time. Even believing Isak is too good for him though! And Chris telling him that's not true and everyone trying to get him to stop stressing so much about Isak's birthday. They all know he's good enough! They all know that Even has been so good for him! Then of course that homophobe came along and sucked. But I love that we get to see Even calm Isak down right after that conversation. We know Isak has had to figure out how to help Even with his Bipolar, and that was ofc what Even meant when he said about what Isak has to deal with the rest of the year. But then we see that Even grounds Isak too and it's not just one sided. They both have their struggles, and they're both able to help each other out. I love William just telling his Dad that they won't be going back to London and not even bringing it up. Not putting that pressure onto Noora to make that choice. Not making her feel bad when she inevitably said she wanted to stay with her friends. Not making her feel bad by knowing he turned down going back to be with her instead. Chris and Emma was SO random, but it always makes me laugh. And I like Jonas and Eva together and love the idea of them figuring things out now that they've grown a bit. Chris is a great friend though! And I love that Vilde basically told her she doesn't need to be anything other than who she already is. She already helps her every single day just by being herself and being her friend. But I absolutely love that Chris, despite not being the most comfortable with having these serious talks (which I totally relate to!!) pushed herself and did it because she cares about Vilde and needs to make sure she's okay. Loved seeing Linn's insecurity over Noora potentially leaving again. We really didn't get enough of Linn! Glad Noora doesn't plan on leaving anytime soon though!

interesting! yeah, I'm so unsure of how I would go about it! there is a part of me that just feels like it's so wrong to jump into a show in the middle but who knows 🤣

Ryann Rodkey

omg yes I totally missed that so thank you for pointing it out!! that makes the ending hit so much harder than it already does! I also think it's such a beautiful thing when the creator of a show really loves the fan base! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

oooh I really appreciate this comment and insight! I'm looking forward to doing some more in the future! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

yes! I was getting literal chills when it switched to his voiceover like it was at the start. such a genius move to tie everything up together! I loved it! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

omg I'm melting! I didn't even think about that with Magnus. he's truly such a gem 😭 yes! I loved getting to see even able to help isak out after everything we saw in season 3, it's such a beautiful relationship and that tiny moment in this episode had such a large impact! couldn't agree more about William! I was so happy that he was able to watch her for a moment and process everything and make that decision without the pressure on noora, we stan 🩶 seeing more of linn this episode was a plot twist but I did really enjoy it! and yes, Chris really is such a wonderful friend pushing herself out of her comfort zone to make sure vilde was all good and knew she was always there for her. ugh, these friendships get me so emotional! 🩶

Honestly, I think Penetrator Chris getting up from the bed to greet Eva's mom wearing only her duvet, and mistakenly thinking her name is also Chris is maybe the funniest scene in the entire show. The brazenness! And them giggling about it after is the cutest, even if he is a fuckboy. This episode really, really, really made me wish we could have gotten a Vilde season. In the scene with Vilde and Chris, when they look over at Magnus, he mouths "Are you good?" to her, which is never translated, and I love him for it okay. Just highlights the fact that she does have someone to talk to. Edit: Also, Noora and William <3 Plus the whole scene with Jonas doing the speech as a callback to season 1 is so great. Edit 2: Runner-up to the funniest scene might be Eskild and Linn with William and Noora at the party, tbh. William's facial expression during the whole thing is wild, lol, and you can tell Thomas 100% breaks when Eskild talks about the colours they could be in the boardgame. He calls Noora "Aunt red", which is basically our version of "Aunt Flo", which also gets lost in translation sadly.

Some backstory for the P-Chris/Emma thing (which I think is ridiculous, but whatever 😅): After P-Chris sends the text to Jonas asking for advice, this text exchange between P-Chris and William happens, so the idea is that the moment with Emma is the moment William talks about. Chris: Sealed the deal. Brought flowers and got invited to the party 😎 William: cool Chris: Bro show some respect William: why you're not in love with her Chris: What why do you say that? William: Are you? Chris: I think so William: Then you're not in love Chris: What the fuck William: You wouldn't say you THINK William: You want her because she doesn't want you Chris: So the same way it started with you and Noora then. You're not in love with her either? William: Yes I am Chris: What's the difference? William: I KNOW Chris: And? William: So would you. You haven't had the moment that changes everything Chris: Lol William: But it'll happen sometime Chris: It'll happen with Eva William: Ok bro. I'll back you. Cool that you're coming to the party on Saturday. There's also a text exchange where Eva admits to girl-Chris that she slept with Jonas some time this same week and feels bad because she's got the thing with P-Chris, but also that she finds P-Chris a bit cringe and confusing after he showed up with flowers, because "once a fuckboy always a fuckboy right?" and girl-Chris is like "I don't really see a fuckboy. I see a boy who always wants to hang out with you." Anyways, the whole thing is weird, haha. Didn't love how it wrapped up, but loved everything else, so it's all good. And it kind of makes sense for at least one of their storylines to be a bit messy even at the end.
