I was so excited at the start of this episode getting to see them be together but of course we had the hot and coldness of sonja and even are on a break because he told her about Isak, to needing to slow down, to Isak seeing even kiss sonja again! was it all a lie?? 🤔 I loved the conversation with eskild and watching eskild very respectfully put him in his place and try to offer a way for him to see what he had said a little differently! ugh, I'm getting worried about Isak and need to just give him a hug! 😭🩶

that ending always breaks my heart. everything was going so good for isak in the beginning and then it just all falls apart. he just feels all alone at the end. isak and Even's age difference is not big. its only 2 years, so i think Even was being more playful when he said "i forgot how young you are". the age info significance i talked about in my previous comment has to do with something else which i'll be able to bring up later! i love ur comment about Even's eyes! i see it too. its so cute!! isak's comment about not wanting to be around mentally ill people for sure is a strong take and feels VERY harsh, but i can see why he feels that way. this whole situation with his mom has made him very prejudiced against mental illness which is actually quite common i feel with children who have parents with a mental illness. the only way isak and his mom can repair their relationship is if she accepts him and if he comes to understand her mental health issues. the isak and eskild convo is so great. i love that eskild called him out and did not let what he said slide. especially because there is toxicity in the gay community where gay men judge other gay men for being too "flamboyant". and i loved that eskild, the character who is usually the comedic kind, delivered such a serious moment.

this episode is a rollercoaster of emotions. that opening scene is just so wholesome. i too, am glad that eskild put isak in his place. he really needed to hear that - but moreso, viewers need to hear that. it's one of the strongest and most powerful conversations of that nature that i've seen in a show. it's an important reality check for people who think they're above "the community." just to give you a heads up and is a common issue ive seen in reactions and wondered the same when i first saw it; even's parents aren't dead.. that line seems to have been a translating error. cant wait to watch the second half of the season with you!

Yes, yes, yes! Eskild is a King!😌 And Isak is very confused gay marshmallow needing some important guidance in his life.. also Evan is toooo mysterious at this point🤔 (btw you haven't missed a thing , Evan did say "my parents WOULD HAVE liked you") I'm surprised you caught it))** and of course I can't not to mention Magnus 😂 he is such a horny sweetheart ) I love him! His obsession with Vilde is ridiculous and I'm here for it! Vilde needs the singular focus of someone like that in her life 😅

I really love the way they handled that conversation between Isak and Eskild. Isak's definitely struggling with some form of internalized homophobia. He keeps insisting he's not “like that” because deep down he thinks there's something wrong with being “like that”. It was also apparent in the scene in episode three where Isak said the comment about the dance teacher being “so gay” and Jonas putting him in his place there like Eskild did here. It's unfortunately common with queer people who've grown up having to hear homophobia. You hate what you are to the point of projecting it onto other queer people. Isak's mom is heavily religious, so it's not surprising he's internalized some of the thoughts that religion often brings. I have a lot of respect for Eskild for handling the situation the way he did. He didn't full on lash out on Isak, even though what Isak said must've hurt him, but instead he said just the right things that could make Isak reflect on his ignorance and then left him there to think things through. Just overall a very well executed scene.

It's actually not a translating error. Even did say “would have” which without context makes it seem like his parents are dead, but it actually means something else that doesn't make sense now but will in the future.

ahhh ok. i apologise. ive been wrong all this time. i originally read about it being incorrect over the years and no ones ever said what you have. thanks for clearing it up!

ugh this episode is wild. such a steep downhill after the first part lol. every scene just gets worse and worse but i love the gradual break down (lol sorry isak). i get what isak is *trying* to say to eskild. and not that he didnt absolutely say offensive things there, but i do think his actual point of being confused that he doesnt fit the stereotype is valid. he just ... lol, worded it in the worst way possible. eskild calling him in during that moment is such king shit. i think the saddest moment for me is the part where he's sitting there drinking while his friends laugh and tell stories about girls and no one like checks on him? not even jonas. he looks so dead inside and the fact that he can't contribute to the conversation about his own relationship issues because they dont know and are always just talking about girls is so sad. whew, what an episode. also emma's "it's 2016, get out of the closet" comment was totally uncalled for!! it's not that easy.

A brilliant episode with so many iconic moments for all of SKAM: Even and Isak's conversation about parallel universes (which have led to 6 remakes of SKAM in 6 different countries/cultures and languages - Isak and Even literally exist in 6 other universes). Eskild's killer conversation about gay pride and what it means (I reflected back on this conversation watching season 3 of Young Royals with Wille lamenting having to be a symbol for queer people just because he openly loves Simon, and Simon's quiet disappointment with and acceptance of Wille's stance). Isak's stance on mental health. Emma being rightly upset about being used as a beard but being so wrong shaming Isak for being closeted. The mounting problems in Isak's life and as you pointed out, his rising isolation. It's so worrying.

yes Im so glad you got what I was saying about his eyes! 🤣 also on the mental health thing, something that I didn't really talk about, I feel like maybe Isak has also only really experience his mom's mental health troubles so feels like that is how they all go? just a potential thought totally agree! eskild was so respectful but also very firm to show his seriousness and he just handled it so well and got the point across that it was a serious convo 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

yes!! one of my favorite scenes so far out of the entire show was that conversation, it was just handled with so much care and done incredibly well!! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

little Isak is going through it MAJORLY 🤣 woohoo, look at me, catching stuff 🤣 I agree, I'm loving magnus, he's so out of control in the best way and I'm here for a magnus/vilde situation 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

yes! I think it was handled so incredibly well! we have seen multiple instances about Isak making these kinds of comments and I'm so happy it was eskild (someone who cares about him and what he's going through) that was able to make him think about what he said and how he is thinking! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

I totally see where you're coming from. he is just dipping his toes in and learning about the lgbtq+ community and I totally get him feeling like he doesn't fit in to the stereotype he typically sees. and I agree and I think eskild also knows that which is why he reacted the way he did. he gave him so much room to learn and grow and I'm so thrilled with that scene!! I totally agree! I'm quite surprised no one has taken notice to the way he's acting bc he's not contributing at all and it's very sad to see 😭

Ryann Rodkey

wait - omg I love that!! I don't think I realized that the remakes were similar storylines!! how fun! I totally agree with everything you said here and exactly!! him locking everything in and hiding so intensely is pulling him away from eery relationship he's made and it's super sad to see 😭

Roj

agree! i don't think he's been around anyone else who struggles with mental illness or has been educated on it (mental health education amongst teens is incredibly lacking) so he judges it as a whole based off his mom. its sad though, because i understand he has struggled because of his mom but i also think he does not understand her struggles either. thats why theres such a disconnect

Where is the next episode?? Cant wait for your reaction
