FYI: much of the modern popularity of "Tiny Dancer" is due to this film, which created a revival of it after being a relatively minor hit before. Since you liked the music of Stillwater, you might be interested to know the music was primarily written by Nancy Wilson of Heart, along with Peter Frampton. So some powerhouse talent writing for the fake band. In answer to your question, yes, electrical mishaps can happen on stage (or in the studio), though I've never witnessed or been shocked myself anything as seriously as the incident in the film. But I only play LA dive bars, not huge theaters or arenas where there's more juice going around. If the grounding on your instrument and/or mic aren't right, it can be a painful annoyance feeling a shock every time your fingers are on your metal guitar strings and your lips touch the metal mic screen at a gig. Going wireless for my bass has ended that. So now that you've done School of Rock, and Almost Famous... I think it's time you do the movie This Is Spinal Tap. It's a comedic mock documentary about a fictional rock band called Spinal Tap. The band may be fake (of sorts, anyway. They have actually gone on several tours and they are genuinely talented musicians), the cultural impact of the film has been huge among musicians and music lovers. Any musician and OG rock fan knows what it means when someone says "But this one goes to 11." You need to as well. ;)
