Na, in reality I don't think they don't show crime scene photos as a form of identification in situations such as this. Perhaps, in an interview, under certain conditions, to obtain a reaction. I'd imagine that images like that would be considered part of the evidence file and not for the eyes of the public. Pretty much everything about things like that, are not standardised practices. Stuff like tasting drugs we saw the other week, and a litany of other nonfactual plot driven short hands are obviously endemic to these US procedural cop shows. Dark humour on the job, absolutely has to be a real thing. Certain professionals exposed to all manner of horrific things while working on cases will inevitably find individual or group ways of dealing with it. But this water cooler banter has more of the feel of a committee of inexperienced writers tasked with spicing up an episode. Perhaps placed in a script to in part provide a sneer or titillation at sexual predilections. Also in the form of deriving chemistry between two characters out of the situation.
