Great afterthoughts. Do you see the metaphorical parallel.... Bones lied to Booth to shield him from 'potentially' an uncomfortable truth that could unravel the very identity that in part defines him and perhaps has emboldened him to live with some uncomfortable decisions he has had to make. I think she might love him too much to risk that potentially devastating effect, that stripping away some of that underpinning could have on his psyche. (Big moment for Brennan.) If 'hypothetically' speaking, a country did a similar thing to it's self, their citizens and the rest of the world over an event that maybe implicates their involvement in the assassination of maybe one of their more popular leaders in that nations history. The very idea of that potential breakdown of identity, is the very reason for the obfuscation in the first place. The episode isn't as much attempting to answer that question, but maybe as a means to define why it's their in the first place. Hodgins is the best. We basically said "You want it to be him" together!!! An adorable moment, that made me clutch my chest. 🤗
