Man this episode is something else, there is truly nothing cooler and scarier than Peter vs the observers, there were a lot of really cool callbacks in the episode starting with the first scene being a mirror to the opening of ''Plateau'' with the man that had taken a ton of smart drugs and could predict the future, i love how they showed Peter being immidiately adept at reading futures because his starting point was already a super smart person so with this tech in his brain he is rapidly becoming smarter than observers that have had it their entire lives, but at the same time he is not a master yet and we see him make a mistake earlier in the episode but immidiately learn from it and strike again, so cool. Another great callback was the toxin he uses to kill the observers being the one used on the flight from the pilot, i loved the line ''our first fringe event was their last'', observer mode Peter truly is THAT guy, you don't want to mess with him, in that sense this whole episode could also be seen as a big callback to ''Reciprocity'' when Peter gets activated by the machine and ruthlessly kills all the shapeshifters, the robotic/cold mannerism is very similar) All the stuff with Walter and Nina was outstanding, you really get the feeling that those two have known each other a long long time, those moments where the ''Walter that was'' sort of appears (nice pickup) are truly frightening and so well acted by John Noble and i liked that they showed at the end that Bell did in fact love Nina but she still wasn't enough because he had felt what it was like to be a god (also a reference to how he was talking at the end of season 4 on the boat). That conversation between Peter and Olivia at the end was chilling, he is so gone by that point that he has started to talk and move like them, he is not pretending anymore, the moment he starts predicting what Olivia will say you can see the fear in her face and we as the audience get the feeling that the situation is almost hopeless at this point. And then an episode that was already pretty much perfect ends with that scene with Walter listening to the music paralled with Peter seeing futures that is just... chef's kiss. I also want to take this moment to highlight once again the perfomances in this season because they are truly outstanding Joshua Jackson and John Noble in particular truly elevated the already amazing writing to even higher hights than i thought was possible, this season just doesn't miss for me, there are no moments where i find myself thinking they could have done something better, all the writers, actors and directors gave it their all to make the best possible final season. P.S. I love that we keep seeing Etta constantly in the posters as a reminder of what was lost and a symbol of hope for humanity, so good.
