OK so on Cameron. Maybe comparison isn't a limited resource that is like a faucet that's been left on. She did have plenty of compassion in this episode. For the person she found more likeable, relatable with a case she identified more with. Her past trauma perhaps clouded her objectivity. Understandably that brought about comparisons in the weight of what's more just in an imperfect world. House didn't give a crap one way or the other for either. There was however only one puzzle to solve. I have no problem with the death penalty in principle. Just as long as it's defined correctly and not misrepresented. It's akin to old testament revenge in the hands of imperfect beings. That seems to me as the most honest description. Clarence obviously wasn't absolved of his crimes. The diagnosis simply framed the possible context for the lack of his control. He still had the feelings and desires to commit the murders he fully admitted to. The presence and affect of the tumor removed a percentage of his self control. If hypothetically the source had been another person. We might arguably have placed some blame elsewhere. But as it was a factor of random medical chance that he had this affliction. The individual has to bear full responsibility. If someone drugged you and during your debilitation you commit the murder of someone you have ill feeling towards. Would you feel more or less aggrieved in that context. I think the point that House was arriving at when analysing Clarence's crimes. They were all reactionary and not premeditated. He had the desire to hurt those people because of things he felt they had done. The significant absence of his ability to control himself contributed to him acting on those impulses.
