This episode. Wow. I was crying during the last part of it! It's so sad! I'm so glad Rossi finally got his closure though. And the "kids" too. This haunted them all for 20 years. Rossi talking about how much it all effected him though. Heartbreaking! How he can still hear the kids' screams, and how he associates it all with Christmas and so he hasn't been able to really celebrate Christmas since. It really shows why he was so determined to solve the case, because it was just destroying him. So I am so glad he managed to solve it, with the help of his team. Even if the ending wasn't as satisfying as he was hoping for. The "kids" (I put kids in "" because they're not technically kids anymore, but Idk what else to call them... Haha) thinking Rossi was sending the gifts is honestly really sad. Because as they thought it was Rossi, they never thought to mention it to him, and because they never thought to mention it to him he didn't know about it and so he didn't have all the information. It's obviously not their faults! How should they have known it was the killer sending them? But it's a horrible miscommunication thing that kinda kept the case from being solved for so long. And also scarred them in a different way to if they'd known who was actually sending them. I love the scene with them thanking Rossi though, and him giving them the house. Then him looking out the car window at them standing on the path and seeing them as kids. Because I feel like in some weird way, he almost sees them as family. Kinda like how Gideon used to call the people he'd saved his family (when asked if the pictures in his office were his family he replied with kind of or something like that...) But Rossi kept in touch with them, got super attached, and really wanted to solve the case for them. And I feel that in some way, the feeling was reciprocated. They hated the phone calls after a while, but only because it reminded them of what happened. Idk, just the way they acted around him. Like the oldest, there was that small moment where she's telling him about the truck where she works, and she stopped herself from saying strip club. To me that's always felt like she didn't want him to be disappointed or worried or something. It's a small detail, but it just felt significant in a way. I feel so bad for the Unsub this episode. He truly didn't know what he was doing, and he clearly needed help. And I also do feel for the Dad. He went about things in the wrong way, but his heart was in the right place. He just wanted to protect his son, but he never let him forget what he did. It's understandable, but at the end of the day, his son needed help and the kids deserved closure for their parents deaths. I agree that the Hotch and Reid stuff felt kinda out of place, but I really enjoyed it. I also thought it was gonna be linked somehow when I first watched it. But figured out pretty quickly they weren't. I liked how Reid could tell Hotch was off before they even went in to start the interview, and offered to do it himself. I just always like moments like that, where members of the team notice when someone is struggling with things and might need to take a break. Then Hotch winding the guy up, and poor Reid just looking at him like "WTF ARE YOU DOING?! ARE YOU TRYING TO GET US KILLED?!" Was kinda hilarious... And I loved seeing Hotch getting ready for a fight, and Reid just stepping in like "No. We are not doing this, Dad." Haha and just rambling on about everything that caused the guy to become who he did, then when they're leaving he asks if it was true and Reid just responds with "I don't know. Maybe." That is the ultimate "Screw you!" Like, he gave him all these answers, but then basically made him wonder if it was true or just a distraction to get them outta there. I do have to say though, it was kinda messed up that the Guards all just left. Someone should've still been there, in case of emergency. If they had died, or gotten hurt, that would be on the Guards for ALL leaving. Someone should've stayed to let them out... I get they had other things to do and all, but come on! One person. Anyone... Then the talk in the car, where Hotch tells Reid he did good distracting him so they could get out. Then apologises for winding him up, and Reid tries to tell him he didn't (he did. We all know he did... Haha) but agrees when Hotch says he didn't help. I love their relationship so much! And then how Hotch kinda opens up about what's going on with Haley, and Reid just kinda listens, he doesn't tell him what to do, or even give his opinion on it, he just lets him tell him. Which is what people need sometimes. And of course the last scene with Kevin asking to talk to Rossi, JJ doing the whole "Garcia and Kevin sitting in a tree thing" and Morgan being surprised, Emily being excited and poor Reid having no idea what that means... Oh, Reid... As for the scene where Rossi showed up at Garcia's. It was definitely rude, but it did make sense tbh. He'd just woken up from a horrible nightmare, it was the 20th anniversary and he just wanted to solve it and was totally stressed and in a bad place. So it makes sense how he'd just show up. (I still hope he apologised later though... Haha)

Hotch reminded me so much of Elijah from TO this episode. It was how he pointed at the prisoner lol
