The phrase "money is the root of all evil" is actually derived from the King James Bible. 1 Timothy 6:10: For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. I've heard the phrase my whole life, which (sad to say ) started long before the movie Wall Street. The phrase used in Wall Street was "the mother of all evil is speculation". Great movie, despite too many embracing Gordon Gecko's "greed is good" ethos.

I think the actor playing Harvey Dent is splitting the difference between the Tommy Lee Jones version and Aaron Eckhart portrayal.
