Even though Shaw and Sarah were romantic i do not think any of Shaws motivation were to eliminate Chuck from Sarah's contention, atleast not in a big picture thing with planning the red test and everything else, whomever wrote that on those boards was probably just annoyed at Shaw like most ppl were at first watch because of the will they wont they with Chuck. And agreed on most of your thoughts you laid out here, appreciate you rewatching the episode and sharing your thoughts, love it :)

I 100% agree about the exposition part in shows. Sadly, a lot of the times it's probably to cater to a less smart audience or older audience. It's probably my biggest gripe with Person of Interest, how they quite often have to explain to the viewers what they're doing or their thought process, when they shouldn't have to. However, the show was on CBS and a lot of viewers needed it, so... Yeah. I absolutely don't think Shaw was planning something against Chuck/Sarah from the start. His intentions changed the second that video was showed to him. The sheer shock in his face when he saw that Sarah/CIA killed his wife should be confirmation enough, I think. I certainly understand and respect your point of view. TV is about what we feel in the moment, and it's great that we all have different reactions or interpretations. Otherwise, it would all be very boring!
