Wanda Did Nothing Wrong

One of my favourite episodes of any show. The Olivia reveal sequence is truly masterful. And the whole 3 seasons up to that are SO good on the rewatch once you know it’s her. I’ve been trying to word my comments very specifically, so that I didn’t ever call Athan “The Witness,” without it being obvious that I wasn’t lol. You were freaking out too much to realise I think, but the tomb that Athan landed in, it was Eliza’s. It’s her statue that he’s in front of. My rule if I was in this show; if Jennifer has a bad feeling, we listen to her. If Jennifer isn’t there and Deacon has a bad feeling, we listen to him. Deacons hyper vigilance coming back into play. He didn’t hear the electric fence getting turned back on, that’s how he knew something was wrong. You can see him standing, waiting, listening. It’s a great detail. I love that a little bit more of Athans carefree personality showed through at the end. Once he knew that he wasn’t the witness, it was like a huge weight had been lifted off him. That “sad lonely demon at the end of time” was never him. He had always been seeing Olivia. My absolute favourite line this ep: “is that Roger?” I don’t know if James Callis improved that line or not, it’s definitely his style of humour, but I love it for Athan. Katerina is absolutely willing to let any and everyone die to kill The Witness. Or who she thought was. Because once she does, time resets, and they won’t be dead. I love that both Cassies watch and Athans watch have been used to save them by causing a paradox. It’s kind of poetic. And I also love that the “you little shit” line is slowly working its way around the time travel “family,” from Katerina to Hannah and James then to Athan. Plus another character that I love saying “I’ll see you soon,” just before they die. 😢 I just really love this episode. Next season is a blast. Hope you’re ready for it. We honour time with patience 😁
