SWAIM BOOK?!! (great ep btw)

I LOVED this movie growing up. It was always on TNT. I feel like it has some of the qualities that make something a Dad Movie too. The short story is really bad though. Imo, one of the very few times the movie is actually far better than the original material. Darabont took a bunch of ramblings and really put it in an order that gave Reds stories purpose and direction. Also in the book, Red narrating makes Andy feel pretty distant, just by the nature of the mechanics of narration. Andy is just someone we’re often watching from afar or hearing about second hand. There are a lot of scenes of Andy and Red talking but we’re always with Red and never anyone else. The movie lets the camera leave Red and be with Andy and that connection to Andy is where like…all the magic of the movie seems to come from. Idunno the story just feels like garbage in comparison to the movie
