As we recently announced, we're making a movie and a true crime podcast, and we're making them in full view of you, our Patrons. Today, we worked on the movie and it’s audio this time! This week we take the recent notes and start editing the screenplay yet again. We cover some adjustments to Sarah scenes as well as the Bear BBQ!

Here are 3 items related to recent episodes (as I’ve only joined recently, I’ve only heard the last 5 or so): 1) Thank you for doing this work. Whatever becomes of the movie, I think this record will be a valuable resource for learning how movies come to be. 2) With regard to the “anachronistic stuff” (Blockbuster, etc.) I think you should take it out and here’s why: I know they’re intentional because you told me so. The viewer, however, will almost certainly consider them mistakes. This makes the viewer less likely to invest careful attention to the story, as it creates a feeling that we’re not in good hands. 3) You mentioned script contests. I, for one, would be very interested in hearing about which one(s) (if any) you’re submitting to and why. The screenwriting contest landscape can be confusing and this could be a valuable datapoint. Thanks again for sharing your process with us. Best Wishes.

On the subject of Sarah getting a ride from Ahmed, maybe she asks to drive his car home. It’d reinforce Ahmed as a passive person and emphasize Sarah as someone who would rather be in control. Arturo could even come along for the ride. Ahmed would not be completely comfortable with this, but Sarah would be happy about it. Ahmed could be horny about it, but there’d be another passenger so he is more verbally intimate instead of physically. Arturo would be the straight man watching the teen drama unfold from the outside for as much comedy as you’d like. Ahmed and Arturo coming back to Trey’s house, having made no connection to each other, seems like a gold mine. An awkward car ride with a near stranger was definitely a part of my growing up.
