Two Americans chew some back bacon (the comedy and cultural relevance of 1983's Strange Brew and how it shaped their comedic sensibilities). For all its flaws, this retelling of Hamlet as the story of two hosers hunting for beer is arguably one of the best comedies ever made. So, grab some corn and um, uh- it's podcast time.

I haven't seen Strange Brew but now I'm curious about it. In the conversation about movies breaking the established rules of the movie and the originators of that style, the ending of Blazing Saddles should be considered. Leaving the western mid brawl to suddenly be in the back lot of a studio and eventually an actual showing of the movie is a nice Mel Brooks touch that hadn't really been done before that I can think of.
