I was afraid to listen to this episode for about a week because I was afraid it would be way too sad. I have to say, Michael, your childhood neighbourhood was quite fucked up with regards to animals. That would have seriously messed me up. Also, my cat ended up getting that same liver condition, without the cancer though, and managed to pull through after about a month of force feeding through a tube. Same cat who was mauled by a dog as a kitten and had a punctured lung and a hernia and made it through no worse for wear (just don't rub her belly). Now she's as big and fat as ever and likely will never die!

Registered horse names, if I remember correctly, are three-part names. One part pulled from the mother's name, one part from the father's name (each chosen at the owner/namer's discretion), and a third part of the owner/namer's invention. The owner/namer even has discretion over the order of those name parts, if recollection serves.
