Content

We are pleased that other people are interested in using our content to create amazing adventures. If you want to use any of our content for your adventures, modules or any other published material, you must comply with this license.

Application of the license

  • This commercial license is available to all our active patrons on Patreon.

  • To use the content from a tier, you must maintain a subscription to that tier or a higher one for at least 30 days. This subscription period must include the day you publish material using our content. For example, you can subscribe for 15 days, publish your content, and then maintain your subscription for at least 15 days more.

  • If you end your patronage, the content already published can stay published and be sold, but no new content can be added to it until you subscribe again.

Content

  • Included in this license are:

    • Battlemaps and World Maps

    • Tokens and Animated Tokens

    • Animated Maps

    • Modular Maps

    • Characters Illustrations

    • Scene Illustrations

  • Excluded from this license are:

    • Music

    • Individual Assets (like boats, carts and others)

    • Adventures (like our one-page adventures)

    • Tools (like Scripts, Foundry Macros or the Modular Map Procedural Generator)

    • Lore or other writings

    • Foundry VTT Modules (please contact us)

How to use our content

  • Don’t edit, recolor or distort the content in any way.

  • Add a substantial amount of work and extra value to each piece. At least 1000 words per Battlemap.

  • Please, notify us by sending us a quick message telling us you are using our content on Discord or at our email thedungeonarchivist@gmail.com.

Attribution

To use any of our content, you must include both:

  • Our name in the credits with a clear title like: “Battlemaps by The Dungeon Archive”, “Animated Tokens by The Dungeon Archive”, etc. Followed by a link to our Patreon: "www.patreon.com/TheDungeonArchive”.

  • A) A disclaimer text or text box over, under, besides or close (in a clear visible spot) to the content being used stating that we are the original creators. Something like “This map was created using the Modular Maps Tiles by The Dungeon Archive. Check them out to build your own Modular Map on their Patreon www.patreon.com/TheDungeonArchive”.
    B) Alternatively, you can use a watermarked version. Watermarks should be clearly visible and placed in the bottom-right corner, at least 25% the width of the image being used or the minimum size for it to be clearly readable. Watermarks in both black and white can be downloaded at the bottom of this post.

Streaming

For streaming online content like on Twitch, YouTube or similar platforms:

  • You may use the non-watermarked version of the content.

  • You still must give us credits in the description, as in the rules under Attribution. A shoutout in the video is also appreciated.

  • You do not need to notify us of your stream, but we would love to see what you create.

  • You can use the Foundry VTT Modules.

Modular Maps

You can also use our “Modular Maps” or “Very Long Maps” to create your own scenarios, following the next rules, which may override the rules stated previously in this license:

  • A minimum of 4 tiles must be seamlessly stitched together to form each map. It can be in any shape.

  • A “Modular Map” tile should only be connected to another tile or map that matches. For example, you can not combine our “Modular Forest” with other of our forest maps that are not intended to transition to a “Modular Map”. But you can combine “Modular Maps” with maps that are intended for that purpose, like our “Modular Compatible Maps” and our “Modular Transitions” to transition between themes.

  • Do not combine our “Modular Maps” with content outside The Dungeon Archive.

  • If you are opting for the watermark option instead of the text box option for crediting us, place it in the bottom right corner of the result map. The width of the watermark should be at least 50% of the tile width it’s placed on.

Restrictions

  • You may not use our content for any merchandise or promotional products or as a logo or trademark.

  • You may not resell or sublicense our content to a third party.

  • You may not use our content in an offensive or illegal way, nor use it within material that contains any of that. Nor within content that encourages homophobia, racism, etc.

  • None of our content can be used for minting NFTs or to train AI Art, nor can it be used by anyone, or any company, that uses any form of AI Art in any of their products or that endorses the use of it.

If you need a different license for your product or a special agreement, or if you have any questions, feedback or suggestions, send us a message on Discord or at our email thedungeonarchivist@gmail.com, and we will be more than happy to discuss it.
