It’s Lucid Chan. And it’s been a while since we have some updates! I will be the host and taking Lucid Realm’s updates from now on. Even though the holidays are coming, our bar will have a lot to do. I’ll be asking questions for everyone, including PDD & Kajun, and possibly anyone?

Current State of Shred & Tear

Q: So, spill the beans, what's the Shred & Tear squad cooking up this month?

PDD: We're putting the spotlight on Lucid Studio, our bite-sized standalone treat. Supporters can get the taste of extra game goodness while we're working on the main feast. Right now, it's like we're throwing a small chilling get-together with Kajun, no boss, and simple “cultured” fun, you know? As for the main game itself, we're cranking up the volume—more enemies, more complex skills & systems in the recipe. Thus we're giving the whole base system structure a makeover so it can handle the heat when we scale up. Stay tuned for the Kajun explosion * insert evil laugh *!

Q: So, spill the tea! Tokyo Game Show last September—how was it rubbing shoulders with the bigwigs? Any impressed faces?

PDD: Oh, you bet! Met up with the crew from DLsite, and they were all buzzing with excitement. We're even cooking up plans for some explicit content releases on DLsite—still in the brainstorming phase. I am still not sure what exactly and how spicy it would be when we are on DLSite, so platform variations are like secret ingredients; we're keeping them under wraps until we're closer to the grand unveiling. Stay tuned!

Q: Many have asked about Lucid Studio mode, where… Kajun does… fun stuff. Can you spoil anything? What can we watch? Like we wanna know!!

PDD: Oh, it's a feast for the eyes! We're diving deep into all the models of S&T, enemies, and bosses, giving you a sneak peek on a model shelf. And yes, brace yourself, Kajun's up to some saucy (16+) action—think about controlling her during a relaxing bath, you want Kajun to rub where you want her to ?. Any wild suggestions from your end?

Q: We knew Shark Girl already, but can you tell us more about her? Like was she close to other bosses?

PDD: Ah, the Shark Girl—she's Salumon's boss. Salumon gave her the lowdown: head to Earth, pick out and assimilate the best MERC around (that's Kajun-chan). As the deadline looms, Shark Girl swoops in to validate the final results. Personality-wise, there's not much intel, but picture a gladiator-style, brutal manager. Oh, and her direct underling is none other than the Mercy Shark (Squalomon - the mecha shark monster one). It's a deep-sea managerial hierarchy, you could say. Check out this month’s Omake Comic on our Patreon, it’s what happens when you fail the deadline with Shark Girl.

Q: We’ve also seen Overlord Boss with those gigantic mecha tentacle. Do you think it’s too big for her? (i mean in size). By the way how old might it be?

PDD: Ah, the Overlord Boss, a bit tight-lipped on its role for now, but brace yourself for a colossal encounter down the road in Kajun's journey. As for its age... well, let's keep that under wraps for now. The mystery adds to the thrill, right?

Q: Squalomon kill is really brutal, but will there be too many of them?

1st Gory Kill

PDD: Every enemy gets their final dance with Kajun, a gory kill moment. Now, Squalomon is a special case; it's got not one, but two gory kills. Picture this: Kajun, surrounded by a swarm of sharks. Variety is the spice of life, right? Gotta keep things interesting. I want Kajun to be able to kill them in as many brutal ways as possible but well, my budget for animators has its limit ( cry* )

Q: What is the main difference between the first and second prototype of Blood bomb? How does the attack work?

First Prototype

PDD: We've refined the Blood Bomb in version 2, adding more polish to the messy, gooey, and gory aftermath it leaves on the ground. It's not just ground-bound; the Blood Bomb explodes in the air or upon impact if it's airborne for too long—think of it like a grenade. The concept here is Tentamon being treated like spoiled food, exploding into a gooey temperature, and Kajun becoming a mobile microwave of destruction. Imagine Kajun heating up the poor guy using her hand‘s Heat Wave and throwing the hot-explosive-at-any-moment dumplings at you.

Second Prototype

Q: How big is the impact area of the projectile attack? Is it even bigger than blood bomb?

PDD: It would be boring if Kajun could only eliminate enemies up close with her claws. Hence, we've introduced various ranged attacks, including projectile and bullet-based assaults. These provide a longer range but come with potentially weaker damage and increased difficulty in aiming compared to the Blood Bomb.

Q: Who is the main inspiration you take while making the OST for Shred & Tear?

PDD: The inspiration for the soundtrack comes from artists like TeddyLoid, BossFight, and Demetori, particularly the arrangements of Touhou Final Bosses track. This music will be prominently featured in the tunnel raid section. While we already have a track in the demo, this new one is designed to be even faster and more brutal, though not as frustrating, so rest assured.

Q: So… last year Kajun dressed up as 2B. And this year, a 3-head mecha waifu, does she share anything with you?

PDD: Yeah! She mentioned she doesn't like tight clothes. I've been trying to keep Kajun trendy with different Halloween costumes every year. Can you guess where this year's idea came from? (Hint: it's from a TikTok video.)

Q: Personally, can you choose? Which one is your favourite among Shark girl, Millennial Witch or Overlord Boss? (I personally gotta choose Overlord cause it’s big)

PDD: I am all over for the girls. But honestly, we gotta focus more on the Witch later on since she doesn't have much story/reveal info about her (yet).

Q: Have you ever planned for Shark Girl to win? Cause you know, every villain has their story? (and a lot of fan requests)

PDD: Oh, the eternal struggle of villains and heroes, right? Well, every boss has its day, but let me tell you, Kajun's got some surprises up her sleeve and bosses are destined to be defeated.
