The support plates and suspension bracket for the BSC. No major changes from the test plate designs from last month, but I definitely felt a lot better about carving into these final components after having done the test cuts. Next up is final assembly and demo - (also a detour into an electroplating TGT on those 5 test plates.)

Another practice plate (short clip) - this is the smallest of the set of 5 practice plates that I'm using as the basis of the next TGT - Cheers :)

Chris, are you engraving with one hand and your other hand turning the vise ?Do not think I am Peter Jackson but when you release your TGT video on this a shot showing your hand placement might give a better understanding of what is going on . Ralph

reminds me a bit of wood carving :)

clickspring

Hi Ralph, yes its a two handed operation, more detail in the video - Cheers :)

I get the feeling that you are one of those people who is annoyingly great at whatever they do. You’re scrap piece is better than most peoples finished products.

Clifton Ballad

I cant wait to find out more about how that vice works, that thing seems super handy

rolf redford

Truly amazing hand work.

Andy Pugh

I think I have seen systems where the vice vibrates rather than the graver. And presumably this would have been done with a tiny hammer in ancient Greece?

So finally caught up. Great stuff and glad to have learnt so much over the last few weeks. Video production is top notch and your research and explanations are excellent. Glad to be on board for the rest of the journey.

Steven Naslund

Just wow! How much practice have you had with engraving to get to this point? So many rabbit holes to choose from. The breadth of your skills is pretty impressive.

Justus Dehegovit

Is no one gonna adress the fact that the engraved parts belong to the current patreon series ? (At 0:07 you can see five different parts including what looks like the suspension arm of a certain sundial...) Seems like one lucky patreon gets to enjoy not only a master-tier mechanism, but also a wonderful engraving by Chris

rolf redford

ARGH! PLEASE, do not use flash effect for transitions. It gives me headaches! Your latest video, "Cutting Curves with a Form Tool" have a few. :(

Hey Chris, since discovering your channel a few months ago, you have inspired me to take everything I do to the next level. When I'm in the shop I have to remind myself of your level of detail and care and it always yields better results. Cheers mate.

Adam Seymour

Hey Chris, when can we expect the next full blown clickspring vid? The clickspring clips are ok and everything (and I get that you are trying to reach a wider audience) but they just not the same. I need my clickspring fix!!!

Adam Seymour

Hi Chris, once the Antikythera series is complete are there any plans for you to sell your cad files or drawings for the mechanism?

clickspring

Yes Adam, that is my intention once I have completed both the research and the build - Cheers :)

Justus Dehegovit

Wow, just wow. As I pointed out the origins of those parts over a month ago, it's awesome to see how great they turned out. So sad to think 4 of the 5 pieces will spend most of their days hidden behind a sundial plate. It will give the device a hidden beauty. Unless of course you decide to give the dials an engraving makeover too, which at this point wouldn't surprise me.
