The redeemed Eye of Zaltec, used by the goblins of Chult jungle in their   relentless war against the undead. Long ago, this immense ruby was used by   the cult of Zaltec to perform countless gruesome sacrifices by stabbing it   into a victim’s heart, imbuing it with the power to resurrect the ancient dead. When the powerful Batiri tribe, the goblins of Chult jungle, discovered the Eye they were intrigued by its power and repulsed by its cost. Instead of  paying the price demanded, they worked to redeem the ruby by making it the   spell focus of their many resurrection spells, gradually transforming it into the Heart of Qotal. Now it sees constant use as the Batiri battle the undead infestation in theur jungle, but it also proves a tempting target for adventures rich in greed and poor in wisdom.

Used as the spell focus in any spell such as Raise Dead, Reincarnate, or True   Resurrection, the Heart of Qotal bypasses any material or experience cost   demanded by the spell.

Once per day, it can be used to cast Resurrection.

No creature returned to life by the Heart of Qotal can be resurrected after their next death, with no exceptions.

Destruction:   To destroy the Heart of Qotal, it must be used in a profane ritual where one sacrifices one hundred goblins by hand in the name of Zaltec, after which the ruby turns to dust.
