Opportunity is a risk! (Patreon)

The epic adventure that arguably cost me most of my work and almost my relationship (well not that bad.. but almost) is looking to be fantastic! This is one of those opportunities in life that only came around due to years of sticking to doing something even when I had no drive, energy or want. This is something that you, my subscribers/watchers and yes even trolls are to thank for... Let me explain!
When I started making videos about China, honestly I did it firstly as a way to show friends and family back home that China wasn't as bad as they imagined (I was tired of the concerned e-mails wondering if I was safe), and secondly as a hobby as I messed around with bikes and connected with the then very small motorbike vlogging community.... I continued making videos for years with little or no interest from the outside world, it was easy to just stop as making the videos were becoming less fun and more of a chore. What stopped me from giving up were the comments and questions I started getting on my videos, it was these questions that led to me making my "China, How it is" series and from there my channel really started to grow, after 5 years of making YouTube videos, I finally hit 1000 subscribers on Mar 6, 2012. That was truly the turning point as more and more people started to watch my videos and motivated me to put some serious effort into getting more videos done. What does this have to do with opportunity? Well to put it simply, this documentary would not exist if it were not for me sticking it out due to your support, my YouTube videos grew popular enough for people to notice, and I was interviewed by CRI English out of Beijing, it was one of the cameramen who came to film my short 10min documentary that was intrigued by the videos I make and he then later contacted me interested in doing an adventure documentary with me. So in short this documentary is the result of years of sticking to something, years of you all helping me stick to something and also taking risks as this was not sponsored, it was self funded by the four people involved (Rik, Mark, C-milk and I). This is without a doubt one of the most exciting things I have been involved in, and I have each and every one of you to thank for making this a possibility!

All the best to you and yours for the new year, and as always..... Stay Awesome!
