It's an exciting day for me today but before I tell you why, let's get this week's early access video out of the way. In this week's early access we have a little bit of a rant about why we feel it's okay to judge a place through our own perspectives, I think it's high time we put this to rest and I hope you give us your opinion on the matter, here'a link to the video:

So why am I excited?  My parents have come to visit for a few weeks and let me tell you I don't ever see my parents. I barely even talk to them (not on purpose) but the last time I spent any time with them was around 2 1/2 years ago when I took Sasha to meet them in Mauritius (the picture above is of Sasha messing around on the inflatable unicorn we bought for my niece). Why Mauritius? Well it's very close to South Africa and flights there are cheap as well as convenient for my folks to fly there, however flying to a place like China or the USA is firstly a hell of an experience usually involving multiple layovers and the actual flight time from JHB to LAX is around 22 hours in the air and also involves a 9 hour stop over in London. It's also the cost of tickets. Plane tickets out of South Africa are very expensive as SA is very much cut off and out of the way compared to most of the developed world and with the state of South Africa's economy and the way everyone is struggling at the moment, the thought of spending thousands of dollars to fly somewhere for a visit/holiday is out of the question. That's where you come in, remember I made a promise right at the beginning when I started my Patreon page that every cent I earn through Patreon would go back into making my videos? Well that's exactly what I've been doing. Equipment (cameras etc), editing hardware and of course most importantly travel to interesting places and everything that allows me to do so comes from the money I've received through your kind support, I will never spend the money on personal things but because of your support I have been able to not only weather the storms of attacks against me by ultra nationalists and youtube ad censorship, but I've also managed to save up some personal money that I would have spent on camera gear etc and I decided to pay for my parents plane tickets to visit me here in the states before C-milk and I head off on our next trip and I'm incredibly excited as this is their first ever visit to America. I can't wait to show them the USA and to get their impressions on the place. I'm sure it will make for some interesting insight and hopefully an entertaining video or two, I will absolutely be making some Patreon exclusive videos with them together for all of you and I promise they won't be boring family nonsense, I'll get my dad to tell you about some of his adventures involving lions and snakes and all that.

Hope you all have the most awesome of weekends and as always:

- Stay Awesome

Can I ask one question that you aren’t obliged to answer? What percentage of your income is Patreon? BTW, Even your detractors say that you’ve proven yourself as the most important and popular China information provider in any media. You guys are the ones on motorcycles with intercom mics, everyone else is in their apartments. China is maybe the most important international subject in American media. It will guide American and World foreign policy; trillions of dollars and probably some lives will depend on it. So....Compare whatever salary you have to the average US national journalist or media producer and I will assume your salary is less while providing superior content. Spend your money on whatever you like, and keep soliciting for more donors. Frankly no one else has adventured, then discovered, then reported China like you have. You’ve earned it by eliminating ads, produced professional documentaries and kept standards high. I’ve got to say however don’t continue unless you still want to and see it as feasible(and yes we’ve even gotten a second education as you’ve reported under stress the last couple years). Continued good luck and skill with you and Laowhy86...in whatever you do.
