Yep, I got sick again | November 2023 Report (Patreon)

Hey remember in my public YouTube update last year when I said I wanted to get two side videos out before the year ends haha

...okay, so as of me writing this report, about a week and a half ago I finally finished the script for the next core video about Nintendo DSi/3DS Camera & Sound. I started writing it after the FlashBoy Plus video in July, and despite it taking a while, I really liked how it turned out and couldn't wait to start recording it!

...then I got a sore throat, then as I waited for it to heal I got hit with a day-long mild fever one week later, and after I recovered from THAT I got hit with the usual coughing symptoms just like after I caught COVID last year, coupled with frequent stomachaches that I am currently still dealing with. I have my large Jobski plush sitting on my lap half-pressed against my stomach as I write this, and I'm pretty sure my recent appetite will also probably lead to a tiny weight loss lol

So needless to say, despite having the script finished, I have not been able to do voice recording for the thing (including most footage recording because some of it requires me to record voice/video in the respective system apps), same for the Tokyo trip video with the completed notes, the unscripted portion of the new Famicom keyboard/SNES Mouse video, and of course any new Akfamilyhome Plus videos. I did release that video talking about my 3DS capture card experiences a while back though, in case you missed that! 

Now that it's December, being a popular month for YouTube uploads because of holiday exposure, in the best case scenario, I would currently want to put all my attention on finishing the DSi/3DS Camera & Sound video once my coughing heals, and aim to have it out within the month (especially since writing is usually the longest part of the process), but that of course is dependent on my luck with my physical condition. As for the end-of-year game review video, I'm pretty sure at this point that will have to be finished on January at the earliest.

But hey, at least not all of this report is gonna be me whining about being sick again!

Nintendo Live Hong Kong 2023

Nintendo Live 2023 was held in Hong Kong from November 25 to 26, and I was able to attend the first day of activities! (This was while I still had a sore throat but the mild fever hadn't hit yet, don't worry)

To temper expectations, this is definitely a smaller scale event compared to what folks saw in Tokyo and Seattle without any large scale shows or early demos, but it was still a neat experience just feeling the atmosphere, and something I didn't imagine Nintendo of Hong Kong would hold before the Switch era. (You've probably seen my video on their previous track record in Hong Kong lol)

I'll be making a video covering this in a similar fashion to the Kirby Pop-Up Store in Hong Kong a while back, but in addition to that, I'm also planning to cover the upcoming Nintendo Pop-Up Store in Hong Kong as well in the same video! That will open for a limited time from December 15 to January 28, and will be offering some Tokyo/Osaka exclusive items outside those stores, and despite me having gone to the Tokyo store once now, should still be interesting to check out!

So yes, so far the only good news I can offer for the month is that the script for the next core video is finally done. And I really hope I get to a better shape to be able to record it soon, since I would really hate to miss out on December! (Though I am planning to release a Shorts variant of an existing video on Christmas day though...just because it'd be kinda funny)

Oh yeah, I suppose that also means next month's report is gonna be the 2023 Year in Review too. So chances are you'll probably have to scoot over to my Tumblr page to view that when it drops. But hey, I'll link it here too! Here's hoping stuff gets better this month, I really wanted reasons to like winter over summer man :')
