Heyo! This month's report will be 20% about the previous video and 80% about fully briefing you guys on the upcoming plans in my personal life and of this channel.

The Virtual Boy Cart with a Built-in Screen | Things of Interest

And this is the video on the HyperFlash 32 flashcart! Being produced after my university work, you could say this was sort of testing the waters to see if I still got the chops of making a proper video (including the cutaway gags lol). The scope of this video is definitely a bit larger than I first anticipated since each half of it was dedicated to the actual cart and a showcase of Virtual Boy homebrew respectively, but I am definitely satisfied with how this ended up. And because any excuse to make a Virtual Boy video that doesn't dump all over the system is a good one! I'm glad I could shed some light on a more overlooked part of the system's history, being the fan creation community.

Moving forward...

So moving forward with my personal life since I just graduated, I am beginning to prepare for a job search. Yes, I know, I would absolutely love it if Patreon let me do videos as a full-time thing, but alas that is still a faraway dream at this point. Anyway, this also means I'll need to shift some focus (and motivation) towards preparations for that, such as sorting through my personal work, building a portfolio and whatnot. While I do have a decent outreach on YouTube and Twitter, in reality more than 95% of my main audience probably comes from outside of Hong Kong, and I am sometimes occupied with figuring about how to find decent work locally here. I don't want to throw out all the details of my personal life out there obviously, but this is something that has been troubling/pressuring me on occasion, which means I may need to focus more on it sometimes. Hope you can understand!

Granted, this does NOT mean another major YouTube break like the first half of this year, since I don't think I'd be way too busy with things! The Tetris-themed core video is basically next on the production agenda, though I can't give a rough estimate for how long it would take, as I am also workshopping the script with a friend of mine. There are a lot more gags being thrown around this time compared to the previous core videos, and I have been wondering how to get bits of it right. Similar to the HyperFlash 32 video though, this is still something I am dying to make a video about ever since I've heard about it, and I did kinda make a promise to the Tetris Twitter account, so I'll give you more updates on it when the opportunity presents itself!

In the meantime, I have been brainstorming some more video ideas. You may have heard me mention some pretty large video ideas previously, like the iQue Player, Mario no Photopi, and the Virtual Boy video sequel. While these are all ideas I'd love to tackle, they would also take quite some time to research and write for, which given my immediate personal predicament, may not be the best to tackle until I've actually settled down and found a consistent course of work or something. So, I am currently thinking of some smaller but nonetheless unique ideas to turn into videos, that may require less filming or research to create but should still be a fun time to make, similar to my Game & Watch Super Mario Bros. comparison video from a while back! Stuff like examining a smaller scale game/app or various...other aspects...of certain games...

...oh. You guys want an ACTUAL example. Well...one of them is ranking every level-exclusive gimmick in New Super Mario Bros...

But yes, while progress will be made on the next 'major' core video when possible (actually writing this one is definitely the hardest part of the entire affair if I'll be honest), I am also considering small but fun ideas like these. I definitely want to grow my video making experience as much as possible now that I'm basically relying on it to find serious work! And as always, thank you for sticking around.
