Falling Up has always been one of the songs I've had the most trouble reading, alongside That's Enough Let's Get You Home. I can feel the theme of fame and popularity present throughout, likely stemming from Will's uncontrollable rise to prominence during the pandemic, hence, 'Falling Up'. I'm pretty sure it also covers fear of falling that many creators suffer from, especially the larger they become, as their crash will be much more disastrous and impactful when it arrives. But then the fear is reconciled by showing that even if you crash and burn like the Hindenburg, it's better to have ever witnessed the skies at all, as so few get the chance. I'm so happy we got another live version of this one, as it really translates well into a solo act, and captures the relaxing instrumental feeling as well as the almost homely sound of the lyrics. Its always fascinating to see how Will handles overlapping studio vocals live (in this case with the choir) and this song has always done that incredibly well and none of that build up is lost (in fact it might make it better). This song always remind me of sitting in a field or the woods, as that summer sun dips behind the skyline and the air gets a much needed cool streak in each blow of wind. Its that smell of tuffs of grass and freshly cut fruit, and I love that about it. I often play this one for friends at picnics on my uke, so I think thats where the imagery is captured for me, and I'm happy to have a song with those feelings stored in it, so much so that I wrote a mini essay about it. Also, WHO GAVE HIM A GUITAR??? IT IS TOO BIG FOR HIM!!!1!1!
