If what John was presented with wasn’t the nicest apartment of the Lake Alliance’s headquarters, then he seriously had to wonder what was.

Half of the building complex extended over the edge of the Niagara Falls, and that extension rested on one massive pillar that had a path spiralling down inside its hollow, transparent walls. Descending that path had been a fantastic view in and of itself, especially once they got underneath the water. The rushing liquid, the Abyssal fish that treated the pull like a game, then the layers of sediment, sand, gravel, rock, all finally giving way to a cavity that was the perfect mixture between naturalistic and designed. It was the lounge to an apartment, open at one side, letting the water continuously fall down. The sound the torrent created made it barely possible to hold a conversation. It also meant that whatever they discussed or did down there would not make it up the staircase. For all other noises, there was the solid rock.

Beyond the lounge, its moss beds, its ponds, and its campfire places was a tunnel that led to the actual rooms. Those were distinctively less naturalistic, even if the walls remained fashioned from the solid stone. A glass wall separated the inside from the waterfall outside, keeping the furniture and ample space clean. There was a kitchen, a bathroom, three bedrooms, and whatever else a visitor or long-term tenant might desire. The only issue John could think of for the logistics of this place, how to stock up the kitchen, was taken care of via supply chute.

Emrik explained they had to write whatever they wanted on a piece of paper and send it up. They would be sent back an estimated time of arrival and later be able to just take out of the chute what they had requested. Beyond that, the representative only told John that the meeting would be held the next day and that he was welcome to explore the surroundings until then, and left.

Not particularly interested in the appliances throughout the room, John almost immediately returned to the cave. His girlfriend accompanied him, as did Stirwin and Copernicus. The two animal-shaped elementals were having fun with the small fish and other animals that lived in the many ponds. To be more exact, Copernicus had fun with them, Stirwin was happy to just have a body of water to lurk in. Things would have been even more lively if they had managed to take Velka along.

No number of magical items could have worked that miracle, at least on the tight schedule they had operated under. Putting an illusionary collar on the Magryph could have made her appear to mundane eyes as a cat. The problem there was that a cat the size of a golden retriever raised more than a few eyebrows. Saying that she was a panther could work and would immediately cause a bunch of additional regulations to come their way. Making Velka appear like a dog would work slightly better, but training her to only bark while she was on a plane would be difficult. That aside, if there was a single inspection of her head, the tactile difference between a snout and a beak would give her away.

Getting Rave and the Artificial Spirits through controls was difficult enough.

John placed his hand in the stream. That wasn’t exactly advisable for the average person, but the Gamer withstood the water pressure just fine. “How do you think this works?!” he shouted over the torrenting noise.

“I think there’s this thing called gravity,” Rave shouted back.

“Yeah, alright, but where is the water coming from?” John elaborated on his question. “An Illusion Barrier is a more or less closed system. Eventually, all of the water upstream has to have gone downstream.”

“Uh, guess this is a less closed case then?” Rave answered with uncertainty. “Gaia does stuff she likes, after all.”

“Could also be that they have pumps that keep the waterflow going.”

“Gonna be honest, I don’t care that much… I care more about doing this…” Rave smirked and squatted down in front of him, freeing his dick with a couple of quick movements. While her perfect ass rested on her heels, her left hand reached into her yoga pants. The other worked her boyfriend’s member until he was fully erect. Her lips soon took over for her fingers.

“God yes,” John groaned, unable to even make a joke about the situation. They hadn’t fucked since getting out of bed and that had been, by harem standards, a quickie.

As much as the Gamer disliked the circumstances under which his girlfriend had permanently transformed into a cat girl, he loved both the cute ears on her head and the steady purr around his dick. Her glossy, pink lips slid up and down his shaft, repeatedly taking him into her vibrating throat with absolute ease.

While her eyes were completely focused on him, her body faced sideways, exposing all of it to the hovering Mandala Sphere. Rave’s nipples poked through her cropped top. Her widely spread legs showed the bulge of her working fingers quite clearly.

A wish to see her more depraved surfaced quickly, and John upped her sensitivity gradually to get what he wanted. Craving the pleasure, Rave’s fingers and head moved faster and faster, until she came with her soft lips pressed against his hairless crotch. Eyelids fluttering and cat ears twitching with each orgasmic shiver that went through her body, the Gamer’s girlfriend was a fantastic view to behold.

Her orgasm subsided and she slowly glided up to the tip of his dick. With that delicious ‘pop’ he loved so much, she let go of his glistening cock. “Aren’t ya enduring today?” she asked playfully, while leaning down to his balls, kissing and sucking on them. “Someone so backed up should give his kitty her cream already.”

“I must be having a good day,” John hummed, only to groan from the handjob she was giving him. He didn’t have to say out loud that he was close, she could hear it well enough in the tone of his voice. “Could you masturbate over your clothing?”

It was a specific request and Rave obliged without questioning it. With her hand out, pants and panties touched her wet pussy. Once her hand ran over her cunt, the consequential wet spot only grew. With her superhuman Libido, the overflowing pussy juice was enough to drench the spandex. The way she circled around her swollen labia deliberately made the outline visible through the cloth. His Extension’s vision was focused on that camel-toe and the gooey strands Rave drew between her soaked legwear and her fingers.

Meanwhile, his main vision was dedicated to the way Rave slowly licked her way back to the tip of his cock. It was one long, sensuous movement, her wide open mouth smiling as much as she could, her throat producing lustful giggles between purrs. Elegantly, she engulfed the head of his dick, worked the glans with the tip of her tongue and rapidly jerked his cock.

John started cumming after a couple of seconds. Thick spurts of cum filled Rave’s greedy mouth. The soaked state of her pants turned into a depraved dripping. Both of them spasming mildly, they rode out their orgasm relatively quietly, whatever noises they made overpowered by the rushing water.

“Phew,” Rave let out an audible sound of relief afterwards. “Needed that. Wanna bet the other girls do too?”

“Not much of a bet if we have the same opinion.” John grinned and made a simple gesture with his head. Together, they moved back into the actual apartment.

“You know what? I will build a copy of this apartment,” John decided, sitting on the couch. In one arm, he had Beatrice, with the other he held a large glass filled with some kind of fancy mango cocktail. It was pretty low in terms of alcohol content, as John wasn’t willing to get smashed on the territory of recent enemies. Unlikely as it was that someone would attack him, especially with Thana and Nathalia around, there were enough people around that might try. John wasn’t willing to take the risk of getting shanked by the Orange Dagger of Bullshit +4, just because he decided to get too drunk to fend off an attack.

He still liked to sip on the cocktail though.

Aside from the physical contingency that came in the shape of the two goddesses, he was also certain enough that they weren’t being spied on either. Neither Nia nor Scarlett had found anything out of the ordinary in the room which made things as safe as they reasonably could be.

“Statement: I don’t like this room,” Beatrice told him.

“Why’s that?” the Gamer wondered and looked around. They were facing the window at the moment. Through the steady stream, seeing anything outside was nearly impossible. The best they got was a steady structure of colour distributions, which were then turned into shifting blotches from the way the water broke the light. He found the view to be hypnotizing, a calm thing to stare at, concentrate, relax, and listen to the lustful cries of the other haremettes in the room. He was taking a break from the debauchery. Most of his women were still all over each other. There was a fair bit of licking his cum off or out of each other involved.

John doubted any of that was the reason why Beatrice disliked the room. “The cave aesthetic is too raw,” she told him.

“Hm,” he hummed and paid some extra attention to the walls. The room was overall too rectangular to really count as cave walls, but they did have the unsteadiness of natural rock. “I guess that would clash with your obsessive perfectionism.” He sipped on his drink and enjoyed the rich mango flavour. “If I smooth out the walls, would that work for you?”

“It would certainly be appreciated,” Beatrice said and cuddled up to him. The view through the window progressively took a reddish tint.

John thought back on the day. After they had gotten through their highly necessary catch-up orgy, they had headed out as a group to do as Emrik had allowed them to and explored. Even before they had met up with the representative, John had sensed several dozen barriers about the place. He had entered none of them, not wanting to be violating the agreed-upon schedule with the Lake Alliance. That fear had fallen to the wayside and so he had obliged his curiosity.

What he found were numerous facilities, private, public and governmental. Many were homes with integrated shops or production places, such as fish farms or wheat fields, others were offices or military areas. The latter of which John was reluctantly denied access to. It was clear the soldiers had gotten orders to not stop him if he really wanted to get in. He decided to respect the boundaries and withdraw.

It was unnerving to talk to soldiers wearing the same uniforms as the combatants he had killed in the past. Whenever John was in a battlefield situation, he deliberately de-individualized his enemies. It allowed him to act with the decisiveness active combat required. He tried to be merciful when the enemy surrendered and he could afford to believe them. Still, he only saw them as parts of the enemy army, not humans in the day-to-day sense. It was the easiest way he had found to cope with taking lives in the moment. The passage of time had made him more callous in that regard, but it never fully stopped bothering him. John didn’t want it to stop bothering him.

That particular mixture of stances, being decisive and trying to retain as much of his empathy as he could, caused emotional whiplash when he saw people moving in these uniforms. It wasn’t a battlefield, so he saw them as individuals, who laughed with their buddies and were afraid of the man who could kill them with one attack. The savage in him wanted to continue the extermination of the enemy tribe. The modern man continued to insist on their shared humanity. Shared empathetic sapience was, perhaps, a better way to put it given the numerous races in the Abyss.

Ultimately, John had managed to digest this complicated knot of emotions by accepting that he did what he did out of necessity. They had attacked him, so his actions were justified. Killing someone with a just reason shouldn’t mean it was easy, though. It would take a particularly kind of creature, like Sigmund, for John to be remorseless (or even happy) about killing it.

As it appeared, the capital of the Lake Alliance was a category 2 Abyssal city. That was to say, it had a large density of medium and large barriers, with clusters of small ones all around them. Many of the barriers predated the modern infrastructure in the area and it was always interesting to see whether what John found would have the building style of a past era or an entirely fantastical one. Aside from the flowing design so perfectly represented by the headquarters, there were also buildings of interwoven greenery around.

The Lake Alliance had a sizable elf population, particularly close to the waterfalls. Sizable, of course, only meant about one in twenty people around. Enough to be noticeable, certainly, but still a minority.

“It’ll be very interesting to see what they want from us,” John hummed and finished his drink.
