Here is my full length unedited reaction for Steven Universe! This only includes my reaction and thoughts. There is no intro. I always start my recordings at 00:00:00 of the show to make timecode syncing much easier and the timecode is included. I watch through any recaps (if any) and intros. But it always starts at 00:00:00. Must have your own copy to watch along with, since I can't offer that due to copyright laws. Streamer: Max

Greg did say that they used to watch Li'l Butler when Steven was little, so I think the implication is that they actually used to hang out like this after Rose had already passed. We learn in this episode that Amethyst feels like Greg in a sense took Rose away from her and that Rose was someone she really valued having in her life. And while jealousy is probably a significant part of the animosity she feels towards Greg for that, I do also think it's worth considering the way Rose passed -- she gave up her form to bring Steven into the world, which wouldn't have happened without Greg. So I personally think there's also an element of Amethyst blaming Greg on a much more literal level for Rose not being around anymore at all. I love the Li'l Butler theme tune and I sing variations of it to my cats all the time. Li'l Butler, that's youuu~!

Oh boy... this episode.... so many implications and insinuations and so little answers. i always interpreted this past "friendship" that Greg and Amethyst had as a way of coping with the Loss of Rose, you know like... trying to fill the gap she left with each other. Although it's obvious that the way they were going on about it wasn't healthy, disappearing for days watching the Li'l Buttler show and ignoring everything else... there's a good allegory here for toxic relationships. But i also love the symbolism this episode brings with the Storage Unit being completely full with stuff (mostly useless stuff) and how it resonates with both Greg and Amethyst having their heads full with baggage from the past, Steven even saying it out loud. Also one last thing... the "I've seen your Junk" line from Amethyst to Greg is such a throw away line... but knowing how conscious this show is with it's characters and symbolisms... it really makes me think that perhaps there's a much more mature undertone to Amethyst and Greg's relationship than we thought.

Hooo boy that last musing... I really, really enjoy the theory that Amethyst and Greg had some sort of little "rebound" fling at some point in the years after Rose departed, and that things entirely blew up after that due to a similar shapeshifting related incident. It's perfect fodder for character study fic, ahah.
