The Land of Ooo is vast and filled with many creatures.... all of them with their own lives and adventures. This episode is really special, not just for the fact that it was nominated for an Annie Award in 2012... but also because it showcases one of the many reasons why this show is so good. This is a type of "silent episode" even tho we do have dialogue from Finn, Jake and Ice King who are the background plot. But really.... the writters can just toss us in the middle of nowhere with completely new characters that don't even speak and still deliver a really compelling story. The music obviously had to be good in this particular episode, if it wasn't then the emotions and pace of the story told would've been off.
