Carnival centrifuges have been around since at least the 1930s. It would tilt up at top speed so the rider would go 'way up in the air looking down at the ground. There's an odd memory that says they've been around since the 19th Century.

I remember so many of these things, and yes that is definitely how some of us did math in the 90s/early 00s. As for that last picture, that may be the single most 90s picture I've ever seen.
