Content

YouTube has started to implement an "Advertiser Friendly" approach to content. Meaning if ones content is too risky (i.e. swearing, vulgarity, violence, sexuality, and so on) it will be flagged "Not advertiser friendly" and thus can not be monetized by the creator. This has already effected a number of my videos and will probably effect a lot more. So a large portion of an income I relied on will quickly be dwindling. Sad to say, but after 15 years of posting content to the internet, this is one of the worst things I've seen happen to a large creative community. The effects will be far reaching and I fear a number of people will skew their content merely so they can monetize their work. With that being said SUPPORT YOUR FAVORITE CONTENT CREATORS. (Even if it's not me) Seriously. There will be so many people financially hurt by this move. Creators have made YouTube a place worth going to and denying them compensating outlets in order to make a living is a rather cruel show of appreciation.

With that little depressing rant out of the way.... what will happen with Foamy?

I don't think YouTube is removing content, just not allowing the creators to monetize it. So Foamy, will hopefully remain there as it is. I'll continue to post to YouTube and I'm working on alternatives. Unfortunately, with the type of content I create, it'll be hard to say if an episode I create will actually make any money. So yeah, it's gonna be a rough couple of month coming up. With September 10th marking 15 years of Foamy, and the 3 part episode wrapping up Germaine's story, this is going to be an extremely frustrating couple of months ahead.

As for content, like I said, I'll never really know what is considered "acceptable" now. A YT guy had his ad rev pulled on a bunch of his videos because he talked about depression. No swearing, sexual content or anything. Apparently depression wasn't ad friendly enough.

Nothing like kicking someone who's perpetually depressed in the teeth financially. Sure that'll cheer him right up. -_-

Anyway, back to work. I got things to do and losing some ad revenue isn't gonna stop that.  :P
