For those who missed the Twitch stream (yeah, I'm still waiting for YouTube to approve the highlights), there was a segment where I went through a nifty eWriting tablet called the Boogie Board Sync. Since Dawn B. gave it to me as an early X-mas gift, I've doodled over 150 drawings (similar to the one above) and saved around $70 in paper. (No it's not a paid endorsement), but it's rare I find a device that doesn't piss me off. The few gripes I have with it is the companion software, which you don't need and the slight difference between what you see on the the eWriter and what's saved to the file. (Sometimes lines don't connect though it appears that way on the tablet surface) I kinda learned to compensate for it, so doodling artsy doodles like the one above has been quick and easy.

How does this affect Foamy? I did manage to scribble some Foamy & Germaine doodles to see if I can quickly gather drawings for the cartoons. So far it's fairly good if I need a doodle for an episode. Not as accurate as my hand drawings on paper, but for artsy doodles, that have a quick pen stroke, it's fairly stress-free.

I'll try to put some comic strips together on it when I get the time, and see how that works... in the meantime... if you're truly bored, color in this artsy doodle! (Make each shape a different color if you really want a challenge)

The downside of this is, there will probably be less artsy doodles in the Etsy shop. Since there's no physical paper involved there's nothing for me to really sell. I'll still draw on paper, but saving money on the archival quality sheets & skipping the scanning progress will save both time and money on all creative fronts.

So... back to work!

J.

(There's a high-res attachment of the above doodle for fellow artists to examine line quality...or just color it in. I'm fairly quick with my pen strokes, and generally most tablets/software just can't keep up without screwing with the lines or input lag.)
