Ever since I upgraded my hardware early this year, the number of images I've produced ever since has it increased by about 40%.

In the earlier stories the extra images were used to add transition so that the fight would flow more smoothly and not change too abruptly. But from the current three stories onwards, apart from transition I'm also using them to increase the number of hits/damage taken, so that the pace of the fight is sped up. I also increased the number of images in the very first parts of the stories so that the intros can be completed and we can move on to the fight faster.

I'm also experimenting with the usage of more 3-image pages. My philosophy till about 2 weeks ago is to always express 1 image as 1 full-sized page so that you get to see all the nice details, but I've found that Patreon's painfully slow server means that this leads to very long loading times between the pages and this ruins the pace of transition (by contrast, in a complete ebook this wouldn't be a problem). Multiple-image pages solve this problem because all the transitional phases are all within one page, and the transition somehow feels faster too.

Edit - all this of course results in a heavier workload and I'm monitoring how things are with regard to my eye health. For those who don't know, I have a history of eye strain and dry eyes and this is exacerbated by prolonged computer use. I hope I can still take this extra work but if I can't then I'll still find a way to speed up the story nonetheless.
