I think you are doing great. It's really hard to work out mental illness like Ian's and as someone with the same diagnosis, i have not been offended by any of your questions or speculation. Just keep doing your best, we all know you mean well <3

So, on what Monica said... She said things that sound good but aren't right at all. "Finding people who love you for who you are" I've been engaged since before my diagnosis and we both accept who I am but also understand what I have can go very bad. I've went down scary and dark paths before that could have ended my life. You can accept and be on medication or be getting help. Cameron's portrayal is amazing. He and the writers did so much research and put so much work in being accurate and respectful. He isn't villainized for being sick. He's just not getting help like he needs which is scary to admit. The scene with the family talking about him in front of him is horrible, but it's real. It's important that he knows what's going on with him but connecting with it is so hard especially when you aren't getting help. I love that Fiona stopped to say that he isn't a burden because that's so important. It's good for him to hear what he's doing to realize he has a problem but instead of getting help he leaves because Monica said that was the right thing. It's not. He needs stable support. I'm not the know it all of bipolar disorder, I can only speak from my experience and research but I appreciate that you are trying to be respectful. It's easy to look at Ian and say "Why doesn't he just get help or stay on meds" everyone is telling him to but his brain is telling him different. The side effects of medication are horrible and it's hard to stick on to the meds and try to get better when you feel nothing. I'm sorry I've rambled long enough, this episode is hard, I'm glad they paired it with the humor of Sammy's situation.
