HECK YEAHHH

Amy

David slaying with the choices yet again

Rebecca Karsner

I know Taylor Swift is like super popular right now, I guess I just don't get it! 🤷🏼‍♀️

adeepindigo

Taylor sings live; there's no lip-syncing or auto-tuning during her concerts. She sings all 44 songs for the Eras tour live, too. You can hear her breathing into the microphone during breaks in the songs.

Leanne W

Some of her band have been with her from her Fearless era I'm sure, her second album. That's why she has such good rapport with them, they've watched her grow up 😊

adeepindigo

I meant to say the reason is because she's said she never will use prerecorded vocals because she thinks you shouldn't pay for a live concert to not hear her real voice. During the tour there's videos of a couple times where she messes up/forgets specific lyrics and has to start a song over.

Annie Willow

She will also throw in note changes in one show and not others. She also is in incredible shape with impeccable breath control.

Annie Willow

Danny at the beginning “Let’s see if Taylor holds my attention.” Danny at the end “Oh that’s it?!?” Taylor lays out her concerts perfectly. Her Eras Tour is 3.5 hours and it goes by in a blink of an eye.

Heida

If you wanna look up the lyrics here is the set list: ...Ready for It? I Did Something Bad Gorgeous Style/Love Story/You Belong With Me Look What You Made Me Do End Game King of My Heart Delicate Shake It Off Dancing with Our Hands Tied All Too Well Blank Space Dress Bad Blood/Should’ve Said No Don’t Blame Me Long Live/New Year’s Day Getaway Car Call It What You Want We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together/This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things Taylor always sings live but sometimes with a backing track and/or help from her backup singers who, along with her dancers, have been with her for at least 10 years, and her band has been with her from the beginning. Camila Cabello (who was in the girl band Fifth Harmony and has become quite succesful as a solo artist) and Charli XCX were opening acts at the tour. The cobra is a reference to when Kim K called Taylor a snake in 2016 after she leaked a part of a phone call recording where Kanye said he asked Taylor if he could use a line in his song Famous calling her a b****, in which she appeared to have consented to. However, in 2020, an uncut version of the call surfaced, proving that Kanye did NOT tell Taylor about the specific line. And more proof that Taylor is an actual angel is that on the day before the first show in Glendale, Arizona she invited 2000 foster and adopted children to a private dress rehearsal.

Amanda M.

I'm so glad that by the end of the show, you were on board with the spectacle of it all! (Next time, you could put the captions on, too, so you catch more of the lyrics, if you wanted). I'm DEFINITELY a Swiftie, but not one of those that's all "if you don't like Taylor you're dead to me" - I think everyone has their own preferences when it comes to music and thats okay. But it's worth noting that after 10 studio albums and genre experimentation, I absolutely believe that there's at least one album that can make a non-fan go "hmmm, I can appreciate that!". David, great pick! Audrey did folklore's long pond studio session recently, I'd be interested in hearing your take since you liked the acoustic set so much ***folklore is the first of two pandemic albums that lean towards indie-alternative, focuses entirely on storytelling, and won her her 3rd AOTY grammy--and its the least biographical of ANY of her albums so it's an easier entry-point for most*** I truly enjoy watching people realize that Taylor should be appreciated for what she does, even if her music isn't their cup of tea. An open mind, and willingness to listen to understand, is more than enough for me. Thanks for checking this out!!!

Coming back to this to say, I would love to see Danny react to the folklore long pond studio sessions (while reading lyrics), because i feel like the songs are just wonderful and it’s nice to hear her explain a little bit about each song before performing them

Richard

I couldn't finish the video because I was getting tired of you always doubting Taylor singing live or not. TAYLOR ALWAYS SINGS LIVE. On her eras tour now. She sings live for 3 in a half hours live. We can see it on the live streams. She doesn't talk before or after the concert to save her voice. So please stop doubting her ability to sing live.

LK Tag

I have enjoyed your reactions. Usually I watch the series ones, but tuned in for this TS one bc I like seeing people discover her music. I will say it was a little frustrating with this one to have you talk through a lot of the songs, then comment about looking up the lyrics. Especially since the lyricism is such a large reason for Taylor's success and how people really connect with her music. It sometimes felt like you were removed from the "reaction" part of the video and more providing commentary on related topics on the music industry in general. For example, All Too Well is a HUGE song and you literally talked through the entire last verse. I know you mentioned your adhd and lack of usually doing music reactions, so just a bit of constructive feedback for future music-based videos. I like David's choices for you lately and hope you do more. I'd love to see you react to the video for All Too Well Taylor's version.

7deadlybananas

I wouldn’t say I was doubting. I know nothing about Taylor and how she performs. I look at things like auto tune or lip singing as tools to help performers continue a grueling tour schedule, or over come an ailment at the time. By the end of her performance, she gave away clues that told me she sang live for sure and I remarked on it. But there’s no way I could have known unless someone had told me before hand. But even if she did, I don’t take that to mean she is less than amazing at what she does. Again, these things are suppose to be used as tools to help performers prolong their voice for a long tour, allow them to perform while sick or under the weather, or random things no one can plan for. Taylor on the other hand, uses more old school choir style techniques to do this and I’m loving it. Sorry you couldn’t finish the vid.

Nikki Badgett

Just a fun fact for you… the song “This is why we can’t have nice things” you said she sounded like she was scolding a child… she essentially was. She is speaking pretty directly to/about Kim and Kanye and all the BS they pulled that was later exposed. They tricked her and then called her a snake and caused her to become a recluse for a long period of time and then it came out much later that they were the liars. That’s the context of that song. Sometimes context helps a song connect a little more. Lol. Also, this concert’s snake theme is a direct reference to that same situation. Kim tweeted about her being a snake on National snake day which is what started her being cancelled on twitter. “Taylor Swift is over party” was the #1 trend on Twitter worldwide.

Corey

I have to agree with this comment. I've liked some of your other youtube reactions and was excited to see you reacting to this, but I was hoping that it was a reaction where you were going to listen and dive into her songs. I think for music reactions that if you want to say something please pause the video and say it so that way you aren't missing anything. You did talk over a lot of the lyrics that you could've just listened to. Also talked about topics unrelated to what was happening. Also, repeating a lot of "I think she's singing this live" in almost every song. I unfortunately didn't finish the video but that is also on me for hoping this reaction was going to be something different than it was. But yeah my main two cents going forward would be to not talk over the videos (the sound control was also a little off for the video with Taylor being louder so sometimes I couldn't even hear what you were saying), and to maybe have David tell you beforehand what you are reacting to so that a little research can be done. I'm not a swiftie but even I find that knowing what the songs are about in her personal life has a greater effect on my reaction and understanding to the lyrics. I would also like to see you do a reaction video to All Too Well, but maybe the lyric video before the short film :)

❤️

No hate but 90% of this was live and the parts where you may have thought she was lip syncing is when she was singing along with a track! I’ve seen her live and my online swiftie friend went to her house for a secret session where she also sang all too well in her living room with them! It’s obvious that she sings live and my friend said she sounded way better one meter away that she got chills 🥰 love the video though!!! Also a little vocal coach thing you might want to know. Taylor’s old vocal coach said that she “Has WAY more range and ability than she shows on her albums that it can be SUPRISING” he also said that she sometimes “Stands up and executes Mariah Carey songs”

❤️

Also, every night on tour she sings two surprise songs and they are different every time! One on guitar and piano so that is really exciting for fans because they never know what surprise songs they will get!

7deadlybananas

By the end of the show she had me convinced that she sang live the whole time. Never seeing one of her shows or know anything about her performances, I only had the concert to go on. And it’s only the vocal coach side of me 😂 like a challenge to see whether or not. But the end of her performance solidified it for sure.

❤️

I’ve just watched this and miss Americana reaction back to back NEED MOREEE

Grace

This was so frustrating to watch. Just an entire video of a man incorrectly accusing a woman of lip synching. She has live back up singers also doing choreography. During choruses her voice is just lower down in the mix so she can catch her breath and not sing as loud. Such a waste of my time and money

Tyler Asberry

Hey Danny! I'm sorry people have to be so negative and on the offense when it comes to Taylor sometimes. As a Swiftie, from her debut album to present, I can assure you that Taylor sings the majority of her songs live, but I do understand what you're saying about how some of the choreography would make the vocals difficult. I definitely think there are times when Taylor's voice really shines through, but I do think she probably backs off a little bit during choruses and what not, and sings more in unison with the backing vocalists. I think that when it comes to concert films, some of the editing (with the slow-mo, etc.) can often make it appear that her lips don't always match up with the audio or what have you. I don't think you meant any harmful intent by speculating, because you just don't know. Swifties sometimes can get a little too passionate, and unfortunately its one of those things that makes the fandom look a little insane (from an outside perspective). So, please don't let negative comments like that get to you. I will say that Taylor's discography is incredibly versatile sonically and there are a TON of lyrical easter eggs that relate to different songs, albums, and actual events that have happened in Taylor's life. The average person, who is just starting to familiarize themselves with Taylor Swift, is not going to pick up on those things. Taylor is a decent enough vocalist, but that has never been where her true superpower lies. It's in her lyricism and storytelling, which takes time to fully digest and understand. For concert reactions, I don't mind the commentary so much. It was fun to see your genuine reaction to the tour. However, if you really want to get the most out of Taylor Swift, I would recommend reacting to each album 1x1, and really just listen and let the lyrics soak in--maybe pausing periodically to talk specifically about what you're getting from the song. But people boo-hoo-ing because you were providing commentary for an actual concert...? That's a bit much. Nobody goes to a concert and is just quiet and focused the whole time. It's a lot to take in. Which is why I think you should check out her albums and just listen. Folklore and Evermore are folk "sister" albums and really showcase her song-writing capabilities. They're very poetic. Midnights is also very poetic, but much more in the pop/R&B lane. Anyway. That's just my two cents, ya can take it or leave it. 😂 But I enjoyed your reaction and hope you will check out some more from Taylor's catalog.

Ryan Kelleher

Yeah I couldnt watch after the first two songs… Taylor is all about lyrics, and I don’t think you stopped talking to listen to more than a handful. Was super excited for this but just a big nope from me. sorry

7deadlybananas

Sorry you feel that way. Again, I know nothing about Taylor and I went into this pretty blind 😂 It wasn’t till after I watched this that I’m learning all of these things. But I would put anyone under the same lens, under the same conditions. And lyrically is hard for me. I can’t hear all the lyrics clearly with my hearing. I would need them displayed some where.

Dom Smith Mountain

This was an incredible reaction. Some of these comments are way too harsh. The only ‘feedback’ I’d give is that there were times where you maybe could have paused the video to talk, because there was some cool stuff you missed that I was hoping you’d notice. I love your insight and commentary, so I don’t think you should talk less. Maybe you can just pause when necessary. Otherwise fantastic video and don’t worry: we’ll make a ‘swiftie’ of you yet😭

7deadlybananas

I think I’ve learned a few lessons from the comments I got from this one. I really appreciate yours 🙏. I meant no offense to anyone and had never done anything like this before, or new anything about Taylor swift besides a few songs from her beginnings. The pausing I think is a good idea 👍 but I will be better prepared in general if David takes me down another Swifty adventure 😂 1) lyrically driven. Display them some where 2) she sings live. Confirmed from multiple sources 😂 but this performance was all I needed to know that. 3) don’t talk much during songs 😉 if at all. Pausing would be a good option for this.

Emmalyn Perez

Just chiming in to say that you MUST watch the Long Pond Studio Sessions!! I’m surprised more comments don’t mention them. They’re her two producers and Taylor in a studio, singing and playing really pulled back versions of all the songs on the album Folklore, and there’s talking bits about each song that give a lot of insight into her process. I think it’s everything you would want to see from Taylor that you don’t get with a massive production like Rep Tour. Every comment you made about not being into her music had me thinking JUST YOU WAIT haha

Camille Garcia

Grace...chill! Go read his responses to Richard's comment. He genuinely was not trying to accuse her of lip synching or say anything negative or malicious towards Taylor. Let's remember to be kind to others, it is what Taylor would want from her fandom.

Victor Ramirez

I want my $10 back this was a terrible reaction non stop talking and doubting

Comments like yours are not welcome here. This is a caring safe community. You being rude to Danny just means that you could be rude to others in this group. This IS NOT OK. I will make sure Danny removes you from Patreon and gives you the extra courtesy of refunding your money. I will also be removing you from my Patreon seeing that you are my Patron. I also do not want to risk your rude comments in my group as well.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I'm a little late the party here. Danny had mentioned the rude comments he was getting for his Taylor Swift content and I just assumed he was talking about YouTube. No way people would be rude to him in his Patreon group when they can clearly see that he is such a loving caring person who would never want to offend anyone. ...guess I was wrong. Truthfully I'm shocked! We can all have different opinions on singers. We wont always agree. But isn't that what makes it interesting? Please continue with the suggestions for ways he could improve on his reaction style. Please continue to give your opinions. However you must comment in a kind way. If you can't do that then we don't want you in this group. Take that somewhere else. This Patreon group is a SAFE PLACE for all people and opinions.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Plus I've been really pushing him to give Taylor Swift a chance and watch more of her performances and music. If people keep giving rude comments then he's never going to have the time to see how amazing she is. I didn't know when I first started watching her perform. Please don't burn the bridge before he's walked across.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Oh and one more thing, if you leave rude comments here on his Patreon, then you will be removed from his AND MY Patreon. These communities need to stay as SAFE PLACES for people to speak their minds without feeling ambushed. There are ALWAYS ways of saying what you think without being rude. We will protect this community! **Mamma Bear ACTIVATED!**

I understand where a lot of Swifties are coming from about talking over songs, but I and others just have to remind ourselves that you literally dont know the song or whats coming next, whereas we who are watching (presumably all swifities) know every single lyric and reference and gesture. So as much as I’m saying to my screen “look! look! You’re missing the best part of this song!!”, i remind myself that you don’t know any better. You (and Audrey) are doing a great job keeping open minds and fostering positivity. And as you both become more hard-core swifties (hopefully) you will start to see all these moments and special lyrics we love too! [[but yes i agree for both of your channels that occasional pausing would be very helpful even though the length of the video would be longer, I would rather watch a longer video than the alternative!]]

Becca

Thanks for sharing your reaction! I was lucky enough to see the reputation tour live. Although I'd always been into musicals and seen things like that live, rep tour was my first big concert. I took my little sister with me and we had an amazing time. Still fondly remember us singing our hearts out in the car on the way home as we had a long drive home from the concert. We were so thrilled to be able to go and see Taylor again this past summer at the eras tour concert in Chicago! It took hours on glitchy Ticketmaster, but we got the tickets and had so much fun. Excited to go visit your eras tour concert movie reaction next and relive the drama!

Marissa Boyd

I just wanted to leave a note because I really enjoyed your reaction here. Not only was this a completely blind reaction (you didn’t know it would be a concert at all) but it was also a very blind reaction to Taylor content in general. For someone who doesn’t know the lore and stories behind the songs, who hasn’t seen Taylor live, and who doesn’t know Taylor outside of her earlier years - I think you did extremely well. The comments about lip syncing or auto tune techniques are valid when you’re trying to break something down from a vocal perspective. I want to have these questions answered too! How the heck does she do all of that, maintain her vocal health, and continue to put on an amazing performance? It’s not lost on me how difficult that is and how much time, effort, and technique it would take to achieve this. Hopefully you continue with reactions like this and get more comfortable as you do! You mentioned that you’d love to see her in a smaller venue with just a few instruments: City of Lover, live from Paris is amazing and definitely worth the watch!

Wanda Smith

I read the comments before watching the video and almost skipped it because of the negativity. For anyone else feeling the same way, watch the video. He isn't dismissing Taylor or her talent. He isn't insinuating that she's faking the performance. He acknowledges how talented she is and says multiple times that he respects her. I don't really understand the comments saying otherwise. As far as him talking over the songs, if you want to watch the movie without comments then download the movie and watch it by yourself. If you don't like his style of reactions/commentary then have a respectful conversation about it. He said a few times that this type of reaction video is new for him. There's no need to insult him. Save the outrage for actual problems. There's plenty of terrible things happening in the world, just pick one.
