Ugh. this finale hits hard, and it hits deep, man. The way that Thorfinn is now just full-blown in a panic over Askeladd's death and wanting to kill him first... but also it feels like he's losing a loved one almost the way that he is acting... It's hard to understand how he feels, but it almost feels like Stockholm syndrome, of growing attached to the only adult figure in your life as you grow up, but this person is just not good to you. I know I see some good things about Askeladd and all, but if you think about it, he really is just an abuser to Thorfinn, and I don't want to be lenient about that relationship or the things that he used Thorfinn for...

Thorfinn letting go of the dagger at the end felt like it symbolizes him letting go of this life, and now Askeladd completed the feat of killing off all the father figures in Canute and Thorfinn’s life
