ok this is the turning point of the season for me, the concept of "Love" as explained by the priest is giving self sacrifice, equally to everyone. Aka. love is for everyone otherwise, its discrimination. I can see the hatred that Canute feels regarding it, because its almost impossible for humans to be that self- sacrificing, so he's outraged at the fact that he can't even hope for humanity to progress into such a type of love. I think before this, Canute had a lot of hope held on to because he believed in love, and the hope of love from his father towards him, but now its just... crushed.

Its also interesting to me that Canute looks like the Valkyries, the ones that are meant to lead the soldiers to Valhalla, or heaven. It feels kind of like imagery, in the same way that the apple farm with Ragnar has a double meaning with the apple in Adam and Eve's tale. Wisdom was chosen above the experience of love from God and then BAM, humans were banished. I think this show has so much imagery UGH I LOVE IT.
