This show is literally the embodiment of my worst nightmare of a capitalistic society 🥲 This shit scares the actual crap out of me. Like the fact the trauma team wouldn't even save his mother whilst SHE WAS JUST LAYING THERE DYING BECAUSE SHE WASN'T A CLIENT?! ARE YOU JOKING ME? OR THE DOCTOR?! SAYING NOT AVAILABLE IN THE DISCOUNT PACKAGE!?! And David not having an immediate reaction to that really shows how much pain he actually was in, he's also so used to this society being so inhumane to those without money that he doesn't even have an emotional reaction anymore...

Also, Katsuo should kick rocks. :)

Couple minor things to explain I guess since the show does sort of assume a level of familiarity with the world of Cyberpunk (overall world of the TTRPG, not necessarily the game or any specific stuff). The thing at the start was a braindance. Basically it records the memories of a person and allows other people to load and experience those memories. So David was reliving the last moments of the cyberpsycho at the start, and then the sex braindance afterwards as well. I think the braindance in particular seem to confuse people right off the bat the most, with people assuming its a video game and such. The overall world of cyberpunk is basically ruled by corporations, and there have been several wars between the various corporations. Apple taking over the world is not too far off. A capitalist nightmare is basically the entire concept of the world. Most cyberpunk is fundementally about the world continuing to advance technologically but failing to address societal ills, and in many ways just allowing them to get worse. You basically nailed that part.
