omg. Puck definitely removed the contract simply so Emilia can see her past and pass the trials of the sanctuary. Honestly, that pains me. I wonder who Puck really is to Emilia to be honest, and why he felt the need to shield her from her past the way he has. I get its to make sure she can forget painful things, but someone cant move forward with so many unknowns, which is why I think its good intentioned but also misguided.

Don't worry about Otto's story. It will come and you aren't really missing anything about him from the novels at this point. While there is stuff missing from the story in the anime, it does a good enough job in explaining most of what it's trying to in season 2. There were really only two spots season 2 skimped on information where I feel like it shouldn't have and that was the explaination of how Emilia went crazy in episode 11 and the thing about Satella having multiple personalities that should have been in episode 13. I mostly feel that way because of the number of people I have seen get confused at those two points in season 2 is very high (Emilia's insanity and why Satella is so different in episodes 9/10 vs episode 13 of season 2) and they shouldn't be confused there. Some stuff is shrouded in mystery. There is a lot you are supposed to be questioning as one of Re:Zero's genre's is mystery. Reading the novels (there is a manga, but it's behind the anime and is still working on the story covered in season 2 even now, years later), will help you with some stuff, it will not help you with many of your questions since much of that will not have been revealed yet. A lot of what was cut from season 1 was mainly stuff about the other Royal Candidates and their knights aside from Crusch and Felix/Ferris, world building lore, and Satella. However, Satella is one of the running series mysteries and will still leave you with questions even with the extra info. Novel Satella is less of a mystery than anime Satella, but she is still a mystery at this point in the story. Your theory of Emilia being Satella in the future is actually a theory a lot of people came up with after watching season 2 of the anime. There are problems with this theory even in the anime. Like how Emilia and Satella have different natural mana affinities. Emilia has a fire magic affinity (she makes her ice by rapidly removing the heat from the air, same as Puck). Satella has a shadow magic affinity like Subaru and Beako.
