For the archbishops, they all serve the Witch of Envy. The ancient Witches of the other sins aren't connected to the Witch's Cult. Yes, the archbishops are essentially modern day witches themselves as they each possess one of the Witch Factors of sin. When one holder of a Witch Factor dies, the Witch Factor selects a new host. In this case, the Sloth Witch Factor from Petelgeuse selected Subaru as it's next host. It's part of why Betty got angry with Subaru in the last episode. She thought Subaru only killed Petelgeuse to try and get his Witch Factor. Anyway, I look forward to your next reaction as episode 4 of season 2 is one of my favorite episodes this season.
