“It started off...somewhat tame,” Breanna started once she and Tyler were finally sitting at a table for their breakfast. “But then. Things escalated. Obviously we were struggling to get along before, but before school started, it was just bickering. Now it’s...well I’m getting ahead of myself.”

Tyler scowled in confusion. “Just take your time, explain. I’m not here to judge or interrupt, just to listen.”

“Okay, good, because what I’m about to confess gets a little...crazy. And chances are you’ll think I’m crazy, and...maybe I shouldn’t.”

“Look, you don’t have to if you don’t want to. I’m not going to pressure you. I think it might be therapeutic to get it off your chest though, and I’m happy to listen and maybe give you some advice.”

Breanna looked into Tyler’s eyes. They were caring, genuine, and sweet. She felt she could trust him with anything at that moment, and so she began.

“Okay, well like I said, it started off simple. It was just a lunch-time mistake. I ate Serina’s sandwich; she had mine, which made her tummy upset and, well, she shit her pants. Not completely my fault, but it’s important for how things continue. Then there was the water bottle down the pants outside the nurse’s office.”

“I was there, talking to her. It looked genuine enough to me,” Tyler added before remembering he wasn’t supposed to talk yet.

“Right, so the nurse gave her a pad, and I told Yana and Claire it was a diaper. Now that’s all I did here because she wet that pad all by herself. Hell, it even leaked into her pants a bit. I went home and told our parents, and she got all shitty. That was the night we went out. Well, I was a little bit tipsy coming home, and I...well...I put her hand in warm water and made her wet the bed.” Breanna finished that sentence and waited for Tyler’s reaction. He seemed a bit shocked but was waiting for her to continue. Breanna decided it was best to leave out the part where she dumped her own piss on Serina’s sheets.

“So Serina stayed home that day and was convinced I had something to do with it. I did, but I didn’t want her to think that. This is when shit really started to hit the fan. Serina bought some joints and then told my mom they were mine and that you gave them to me. My mom, who is super against weed by the way, like, she takes the name ‘Devil’s Lettuce’ seriously, she told me I couldn’t see you anymore. That’s when Serina told you that it was “too soon” for us and why I’ve been distant.”

Tyler seemed more in shock now. Breanna even caught him looking around to see if anyone else was possibly listening in to the conversation. Breanna continued.

“It gets worse though. So you know how you mention how you use hypnosis to like get rid of cravings and relax? Well, that got me thinking about what else it could do and well...I sort of, kind of,” Breanna winced. “I hypnotized Serina to wet her pants at my command.

Tyler had been attempting to sip some water but spat it back into the glass when she finished.

“You what?!’ Tyler finally cut in.

“Look, let me just rip the rest of the bandaid off, okay?” Breanna pleaded.

“So that’s not even all of it?”

“No. Just...hold on. So yeah, I tried the hypnosis, and it worked like a charm. So I kept doing it, and doing it, and doing it until I had a bunch of things worked into her brain. I have a command to pee, shit, pee and shit, I have a passive one going for bedwetting, and well, last night I did one I think I shouldn’t have done…”

“What did you do Breanna?”

Breanna’s heart was pounding, but she had already gone this far.

“I made her completely incontinent. Look, I didn’t want to. She was catching on to the fact that I had to be around for her accidents, and I didn’t want her to figure out it was me…”

Tyler nearly got out of his chair, but instead, he leaned against the table, his hands in a fist against his face. Breanna waited for him to respond.

“You have to tell her.” He said calmly.

“What? Are you crazy?” Breanna whispered a shout.

“You have to, Brea; it’s gone too far.”

“No way. I can’t; I’ll be dead by morning. If she doesn’t kill me, then my mom will.”

“Then why did you do all of this? You knew it wasn’t right; your guilt has built up enough that you felt the need to confess to me. You knew the consequences of something like this.”

“But I did it for you!” Breanna begged. “It only got this bad because Serina knew how to take you away from me. She was jealous and wanted payback for me going out with you and for me making her wet the bed.”

“I didn’t ask for this. Look, what Serina did was shitty, but what you’re doing... it’s almost immoral. You’re messing with her brain and then making her think it’s all her fault. She’s probably out there today, wetting her pants and thinking, ‘oh man, Breanna is nowhere around, this must actually be my body doing this’. Don’t you think that’s wrong?”

There was a long pause while Breanna tried to figure out a response.

“You aren’t going to tell anyone, are you?” She said softly, her head hung.

Tyler sighed. “No. I won’t tell anyone. It’s not my place. But you need to promise me that you’ll stop this. I get that you can’t tell her for fear of death. There are tracks that can clear hypnotic suggestions. Start playing those and clear her conditions. Once she’s back to normal, you will spend every day making it up to her. I want to see the nicest Breanna possible.”

Breanna just nodded, knowing he was right. Tyler stood up, and Breanna finally looked up again.

“Where are you going?” She said, defeated.

“I’m going home. Don’t worry about driving me; I see a cab outside. Look, Brea, I like you, but I don’t like what you’ve done here. And I don’t think I want to be with someone capable of this abuse. I’ll see you at school.” Tyler turned and left without looking back. Breanna sat, shoulders hunched, as a waitress came over to the table.

“Have you decided, hun?”
