Serina was trying to be more careful. Even though her gut was telling her Breanna was the culprit, she still took every effort to make sure she minimized any real accidents. This essentially meant not drinking a lot a few hours before bedtime and going to the toilet a few times before she fell asleep.

So, needless to say, when she woke up in another wet diaper, she suspected foul play. It took her a moment to realize, but as she became more and more conscious, the cold, thick and wet padding became more and more apparent between her legs. Finally awake, and after feeling the wet diaper with her hand to make sure she wasn’t imagining it, she threw the blanket off and jumped out of bed. The diaper sagged between her legs, and before she stormed out of the room, she noticed her full water bottle on her bedside table. Since she’s been trying to be careful, she hasn’t been drinking it, but it gave her another idea. Serina grabbed the bottle, twisted off the lid, and stomped into Breanna’s room.

Breanna was already awake as she had to make sure she disconnected her iPad from Serina’s speaker, but she laid back when she heard Serina get up and closed her eyes, pretending to sleep.

Serina burst into Breanna’s room with a fury, slamming the door open loudly. Breanna jumped and opened her eyes wide to see Serina’s red-hot face.

“Rina, what are you-” Breanna started to ask, but before she could finish, Serina pulled Breanna’s blanket off of her and threw the full bottle of water onto her crotch. The water shocked Breanna, and she felt a puddle quickly form under her butt in her bed.

“What the fuck, Serina!” she screamed.

“See? Not very nice, huh? Maybe you need diapers, hm? Dad! Jess! Come quick! Breanna’s a little bedwetter!” Serina yelled into the hall.

“You’re going to ruin my fucking mattress, you dipshit!” Breanna started padding at the puddle in her lap with her blanket.

“Water isn’t going to do shit. Maybe I should fill this cup with pee; then we could do some real damage, hm?”

“Serina!” Robert’s voice boomed behind her. Serina turned around to see her dad, still in his PJ’s, fuming behind her.

“Oh good, look what we have here; Baby Brea wet her bed!” Serina pointed to Breanna, who was still trying to dry herself off. “Better give her a diaper too, huh?”

“That’s the final straw, Rina. You have the cup still in your hand; I’m not a moron.”

“But you believed it when she did it to me! The only difference is I’m open about it. You caught me red-handed. That’s the only difference!”

Jessica filled in behind Robert, looking past him to see Breanna and Serina.

“So Breanna did that to then?” Robert pointed to Serina’s diaper. She hadn’t bothered putting on a pair of pants in her rage, so the yellowed padding sagged in full view.

“Somehow! Yes!” Serina claimed.

“That’s a bunch of bullshit, and you know it,“ Breanna snapped back.

“Is it? I’m not so sure anymore!” Serina turned to the parents. “Like, this is fishy, right? She’s around for nearly all my accidents, even last night during the movie! She’s doing this. I know it. I’m not crazy, right?”

Robert and Jessica stood in the doorway to Breanna’s room, not responding.

“Right?” Serina repeated with less anger and more desperation. Eventually, Robert lowered his head, not knowing how to respond. Serina scowled and pushed past the parents to go back to her room. Jessica looked at Brenna with a face that said, ‘What did you do?’. Breanna shrugged and waved a hand to Serina’s door.

Robert followed Serina, who was frantically packing a bag.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Robert asked.

“I don’t know. Anywhere. I just need to be away from her.”

“You can’t run from your problems, Rina. You need to confront-”

“-I can’t confront the problem, Dad; she IS the problem. She’s doing this to me. I know it. I just need to prove it. Please. Let me go out for the night. I’ll call a friend; Ally will have me. I just...I need to be away from her. If I’m away from her and nothing happens, I know I’m not crazy, and you have to believe me that she’s part of this.” Serina paused for a second to allow her dad a chance to respond. “Please,” she added.

“Fine. Ally, I think I remember her. Wealthy family, right?” Robert asked.

“Yeah.”

“Well, just tonight. And I want you back tomorrow before noon. Deal?”

“Deal.”

Robert nodded, and before leaving the room, turned back for one more comment.

“I love you, Rina.”

Serina paused.

“I love you too, Dad.”

Robert wanted to say more, but he knew it wasn’t much use. He wanted to tell her to get off this destructive path, just to wait and see what the doctor has to say on Monday. He wanted to get mad at her and tell her how much this feud is testing his and Jessica’s love too. This was bigger than just “not getting along” now, and if they couldn’t sort it out soon, the consequences could be worse than a few loads of washing and some dirty diapers. Jessica saw it in Roberts’s face as he retreated to the kitchen. She walked up to him and hugged him.

“It will get better,” she said.

“You sound like me now,” Robert chuckled, embracing his partner. “Serina’s going to a friend’s house tonight.”

“Yeah? That might be good for her. Maybe I should see if Breanna could too. Then you and I could have a night just to ourselves!” Jessica said.

“That sounds amazing.”

“Yeah? Order in, share a bath, drink that bottle of wine we’ve been saving…”

“I think I’m gonna need more than just the one bottle,” Robert joked. “But that sounds great, babe.”

“Okay, I’ll go talk to Breanna,” Jessica finished with a kiss, then headed over to Breanna’s room. She knocked on the door.

“Brea? Got a minute?” She asked. Breanna was instantly annoyed.

“What?” She snapped, awaiting an accusation. Jessica stepped into the room.

“Robert and I were talking and-”

“-It isn’t me, I swear,” Breanna cut in.

“That’s not what I was going to say, so let’s cut the interruptions, please. I am your mother. Now, Rob and I thought it would be good for you to have a day out of the house. Is there a friend you might want to hang out with? I could give you some money for dinner?”

Breanna immediately thought of Tyler’s offer from yesterday.

“Yeah, I have someone. Can I have the car, though?”

“Yeah, she can,” Serina cut in as she walked out of her room before Jessica could answer. “Ally is coming to pick me up, so I don’t need it.”

“Well that answers that, thanks Rina!” Jessica said joyfully.

“Okay, well, let me at least clean my sheets then-” Breanna started.

“Not to worry, you just get ready. I’ll take care of it.”

Breanna became weary of her mom’s eagerness.

“Okay...sure, thanks.”

Jessica nodded and left the room. Breanna picked up the phone and called Tyler, who was still in bed.

“Hey, my mom’s kicking me out for the day; you still on for hanging out?” Breanna asked, following Tyler’s sleepish greeting.

“Yeah, for sure!” He said, waking up more.

“Okay, well, I’m starving, so I’ll pick you up for breakfast in like 45?”

“Sure! I know a place. I’ll text you my address.”

“Sounds good, see you soon!”

Meanwhile, Serina had already spoken to Ally, who was more than eager to spend the day with her. She was already ready for the day and immediately commissioned her driver to pick Serina up and take the pair to an upscale breakfast place downtown. As Serina waited by the door to leave, her dad asked the awkward question.

“So...are you…?” he said, looking to her midsection—Serina lifter her shirt, revealing the waistband of a fresh diaper.

“Yes, obviously.”

“How many did you pack?”

“Just one.”

“That’s not enough, is it?”

“It is if my theory is correct.”

“Well...maybe just pack one more, just in case?” Robert tread carefully. Serina scowled, then rolled her eyes.

“Fine. Just in case.”
