So I really like the fact this show displays both sides of a conflict. You see who created the conflict, who was involved, and why those decisions were made. Life isn't just an one-sided, black and white situation so seeing that, especially in a kpop competition show, is so refreshing and rare. That being said, Jueon's attitude was sorta annoying. I'mma go on a bit of a rant so I apologize beforehand for the length of this whole thing lol. It's understandable if Jueon wanted to showcase himself but it's a group assignment too and the other groupmate sided with Gunwook for a reason. His attitude when Gunwook went upfront and how he was visibly bothered and literally said "I'm so annoyed" was so immature of him. Regardless if he lost the spot he should've supported anyone who gains the position for the environment of the team and he almost cost them the whole assignment due to his attitude. Gunwook might've been 16 at the time but that doesn't mean he wasn't talented or worthy of being a leader, and I'm thankful once again that Kijoong was there to advocate for Gunwook and support him. Kijoong has been in the industry since really young so I think him seeing someone Gunwook's age face that much pressure while also being a leader and having to perform made him be protective. Also, the whole situation reminded me of the prank that Gunwook had during Boy's Planet where they jokingly gave his killing part during En Garde mission to Seunghwan and even though Gunwook was sad he accepted it and didn't throw a fit before the prank was revealed. It is that type of behavior that makes me respect him. Jueon eventually said on an instagram live that he actually apologized to Gunwook and congratulated him when he made it into ZB1, so everything was eventually resolved, but still, his behavior irked me. Also, the sandbag dancing thing was way more common years ago but isn't talked about much anymore. EXO's Lay actually used to do it a lot, and had sandbags tied to his waist (he admitted it during some interview or it might've been his autobiography) and that's how he injured his back and it still acts up every now and then for him. I understand why idols do it but it can be so incredibly dangerous. Chuu saying they'd eat half an apple and wear jackets while having sandbags attached to them while dancing is insane. All so they can be incredibly skinny and the first sign of any fat idols get bullied. I just want them to be healthy, especially since so many idols/trainees are kids and teenagers, like their bodies are still growing they need nutrition. I hate how starving yourself is so normalized. The other two unique survival shows outside of this one would be LOUD (Psy's and Jyp's survival show which was objectively more about talent, gave two interesting perspectives from two very different producers, and discovered some crazy talented individuals) and I-Land (which is way more psychologically, dare I say, abusive because they had boys voting out their friends, making alliances, and being on camera basically everywhere they went so they had almost no privacy). All the other ones (for boy groups) are pretty much the same in my opinion. Side note and completely off topic: apparently Jellyfish (Gunwook's company and the one managing Evnne) doesn't have a vocal teacher nor many dance teachers. One of the Evnne boys spoke about it and outted the company for that and I couldn't be more confused as to why an entertainment and idol company would be that extremely unprepared. There have been other issues with Jellyfish had had with their other groups, like barely giving them any promotions and not investing enough into the music, so it's extremely worrisome for the future Evnee and Gunwook has. Evnee will eventually disband (their contracts are temporary) and go back to their respective companies but Gunwook has to go back to Jellyfish and I couldn't be more worried. We've seen what they did with Sejong and Mina (two girls who made it into I.O.I (the first season of Produce, aka basically the first season of Girl's Planet) who, despite their insane popularity during that time period, ended up debuting in a group that disbanded quickly and then they lost a good amount of their fame until they got more into acting, and now rarely ever release music). There have been rumors half of the Jellyfish trainees have left already (including some of the trainees who went to Boy's Planet with Gunwook) and I am so stressed out. It also made me understand why Gunwook was the one leading the trainees despite being one of the youngest; they probably, literally, had no one else to do it and I don't know if that's funny in a messed up way or just crazy. I have no idea how Jellyfish got so lucky snatching up Gunwook, who has experience as a class president, vice president, church president, etc. It's like this insanely talented trainee who has years of leadership experience fell onto their laps when they slid into his Instagram DMs to cast him. Pray for Gunwook after ZB1 disbands, I am begging the gods HYBE snatches him up.

Nina, thank you for always sharing your opinion and knowledge with me!! I appreciate all your super long (or short) posts!! There are things I don’t have much knowledge about in terms of the nitty gritty details that add a whole new layer of context to these situations and idols/trainees in general. LOUD I will definitely react to once these shows are over (love TNX!!). And I-Land I saw a little of the beginning and end (watched with my mom; I'm a huuuge ENHYPEN fan so I'm gonna have to watch the series properly now!!). I also hope that idols are being safe when it comes to their image and diet. To essential starve yourself and have to be so physical at the same time with all that dancing...it's not a good combination at all. We always hear that X is taking a break because of health issues...but what issues are those? It's easy for people to say "It's none of our business why", but if it's because their company is putting them in unhealthy situations for long periods of time, then it should be our business because that's abuse and should not be tolerated. Or legal! Who's overseeing how these training programs go? Are there audits? Health inspectors? Etc....I think these are valid questions, no? Like, Gyuvin (ZB1) and Mark (NCT) were just at an awards show and ppl were questioning their health...were they forced to be there? Why couldn't they just skip the event this year? I don’t know...I don’t want to assume the worst. Can’t Gunwook leave Jellyfish once ZB1 are done? I wish they weren't temporary group. They've made such a huge splash and the members gel so well with each other...I'm going to find it extremely difficult getting used to any of the guys in other groups should the time come lol.

A couple quick notes: Yoon MI Rae is Tiger JK's wife and one of the best female rappers in Korea. She is another sweetie, like her husband. Also, I love that Gun Wook and Ji Sung are the same age, and, in my mind, the 2 main rapper candidates here. I loved watching this show when it came out, and am enjoying watching it again with Marco.
